Thanks; a refreshingly impartial and balanced consideration of all the issues.

They can't without record oil prices.
Thanks for bringing up the oil;
Two scenarios-
1. Scotland as part of the UK (8.4% population, 10% spending) gets $10 per barrel - at $100 per barrel
2. Scotland (not part of the UK, with oil price at $50) gets 90% of the revenue (geographical share), then $10 a barrel becomes $45
So $45 is more than $10 (unless you went to school somewhere that didn't do good arithmetic)
Scotland fishing (and oil) map - from BBC
The problem is that people don't look at the complete picture-
Lets explore the £10bn alleged black hole
Whisky trade exchange (London) accounts for £10bn of trade- NOT counted as Scottish income
Businesses with head offices outside Scotland (such as most supermarkets etc.) count as non-Scottish income. Another £4bn-£6bn of economic activity from Scotland counted elsewhere
Then go to defence (even including Trident; which isn't wanted here). There is a difference of £1.2bn -£1.5bn between what is raised in Scotland and what is spent in Scotland (not in Scotland's favour)
So the above indicates about £15 bn increase on day 1 of any independent Scotland - enough to obliterate the £10bn alleged 'black hole'baldly going on...0 -

Hey Generali maybe missed your reply to this one as well... string answered but I am curious to know how you feel regarding the dichotomy
Are you like string and believe it's only one way ? Unable to accept that it goes both ways ...
Or do you accept that yes there are a portion of people in England that hate Scots?
I noticed once again you referred to our perceived hatred of the English in your post to Shakey ... I do feel sorry for you being so blinded you can not see tbh ... and it's a blinding of your own making and choosing to remain ... such a shame
It's very difficult to debate with butterfly minds who don't read / understand posts, so I'll keep this brief.
Previously I have my own outlook and all I got was blathering about entirely different issues; I emphasised that on the matter of "cross border dislike" there were those on both sides that disliked the other but made it clear that I thought the cult of dislike has a traditional basis in Scotland but not in England.
I also made it clear that I was British more than English. In previous posts I've also said that I dislike the prospect of being shunted into an allegiance that excludes Scotland.
How can I take seriously fluffy protestations of non-hatred when yet again I see a comment like this:... the British flag repulses me ...
"Repulses" - the message is clear.
So does such a statement go hand in hand with repulsion of the Scots, English, Welsh and Irish, or does the mindset exclude the Scots with the venom reserved for the other countries, or just England?Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.

You'll have to explain that in more detail - why does scotland get more of each unit of oil if it independent?
Please also provide the breakdown of all other tax revenues (in addition to that one commodity) for Scotland as part of the union vs independent
Could you also detail the long term future of the fields to the east of Scotland vs those to the east of England and explain why the owner of the grangemouth refinery just bought the rights to gas and oil fields in the English waters?Left is never right but I always am.0 -
Kezia Dugdale(Scottish Labour Leader) talking about her dad in today’s Scotsman:“We are not one nation now. As much as we are all trying to come back together, the referendum kind of burns on. I see it as emotional, not rational. My dad will see something on Wings Over Scotland and post it. For him, it is as relevant a source as the Financial Times because it reinforces what he already believes.1. People don’t trust Wings because it “reinforces what they already believe”. They trust it because we back up what we say with live links to original and independent sources so they can check our interpretation for themselves. (Something, incidentally, the Financial Times doesn’t do, like most newspapers don’t.)
And because I can see somebody in my family doing that, I understand that’s there’s 100,000 other people who feel exactly the same way.”£48515 interest £181 (2009)debt/mortgage-MFIT/T2/T3

They haven't just as the BNP these days is too savvy to say that they hate black and brown people.
I've made my views clear: Nationalist Parties appeal to racists for their mass support. Not every nationalist is a racist but most are.
That doesn't mean that I think you are an anti-English racist but it does mean that I think most of your fellow travelers are.
I've answered all questions in good faith so let's turn it around. Do you, Zag and STD think:
1. No SNP supporters hate the English?
2. Some SNP supporters hate the English (what proportion please: 1%, 10%, 100%)?
3. Why is there an anti-union party in Scotland but not one in England if anti-Scottish racism in England is a problem?
Answers are demanded of me so answer those three questions please.
1. Yes there are SNP members that hate the English ... Nicola is trying g to weed them out but can only do so when they show their true colours
2. I am not positive but I imagine it will be a similar % as the English that hate the Scottish ... so I reckon 1-1.5% or so
3. I have not got a clue as to why England chooses not to have a party that wants the union break up but I can guess if you like ?
There that wasn't hard at all ... don't know why you got yer knockers in a twist answering mine but hey ho0 -
But I would like to point out ... ONCE again your getting England mixed up with WM
It's not all about England you know ... Scotland is allowed to think about things other than England0
