You need independence ideally, but whenever they`ve been asked not enough of your fellows Scots have wanted it.
Shame really, it must be so galling for you!:rotfl:

Not really. It's only been asked the once. It took two attempts for devolution.. the second time was a resounding Yes. Perhaps history will teach us all..something about repeating ? ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

You clearly didn't read the full thing ... the British flag repulses me ... not the English Welsh Irish or Scottish flags ... I like each country and it's people ... but as a collection no I don't like it ... but hey make it all about England again cause we all know only England is Britain ... or at least you think so when you connect England and only England to my hatred of the British flag

Your just not getting it at all ... shame really but hey your loss

What a muddled statement. You can't squirm out of your own words like that.

    If I were to say:

    "I despise the Scottish Flag"

How would that go down with Scots?

Would anyone believe me when I said that I liked the Scots?

If someone despised the EU flag would you assume they hate Europeans, including Brits?

Well ask him for his reasons in not naming the MP, and see where it goes if that is your main or only problem with the article?

For me his article makes the same point with or without this conversation with an SNP member. Which is possibly why IMO I see no advantage for him to attract even more abuse than he already gets , by fabricating this conversation. Maybe he should just have left it out altogether, would have still agreed with him.

Neither can I work out how that new soundbite from Sturgeon you kindly quoted makes what the MP is alleged to have replied to Hague's question , makes any difference to the content of his article. Or the impression readers might have of the individual MP

You'll have to explain it to me?

I'm really not sure what you want me to explain. Perhaps we just see the article through our own 'biased' eyes.

All I read was independence at any cost whether it was the (allegedly) :) MP or the FM. Nothing new there, articles like this are 10 a penny by unionists. Shock! Horror! The SNP want independence :rotfl:

You are so entwined with your ideology of what Britain is you can't see any other option .... and that Ideology seems a to be you think Britain is England ... that's messed up that is

where have I ever stated I hate English or England ?

I have I said I despise the British flag ... that flag under which millions have died and suffered ... I hate the symbol of the entity and all it stands for ... I do not hate it's parts as to do so would mean I hate myself

It all seems so pointless trying to explain on here that although I support independence and like the SNP I am not anti English. Some are so entrenched it feels like an impossible task to prove SNP aren't anti English. It feels like some have taken it as a slight against them personally that we wanted independence.

Although I'm an infrequent poster on here I do know the others who are pro Indy could not be described as anti English. Surely you all can see that? Geez, Shakes & I are married to Englishmen ( who both support Indy) , elantan is English & Zag lives in England. We are representative of most people who support SNP & or Indy. Not bad, not anti, just people.

Do you look on those who want out of the EU as haters of 'other' Europeans?

no-one ever died for the Scottish flag?

didn't Glascow's money and wealth come from the slave trade?
half the people of the west indies have scottish names ... how's that then?

how can any rational human being hate an inanimate object like a flag without hating the people (scottish, irish, english, welsh) behind it.

maybe its a girly thing : you just don't like the coulours

@Elanten - for someone who professes not to hate, you really seem to be full of it. Keep digging the hole you're in if you like but don't expect others to fall in it with you, excepting those in whose interest it is to further discord in the Union and pretend that all is lovey-dovey so that they can still get favours from the UK.

Oh - and stop stamping your feet.

@zagubov - the EU is not a country so the analogy is not correct. But for a flag of a country, the answer is, essentially, yes; hate might indeed be the word because despise is a very strong word itself. Despising a flag is not a simple statement of disliking the colour scheme it is despising the country that it represents, a country that consists of people who, by their system of government have the ultimate responsibility for how their government behave.

It's roughly the same as all the vitriol about Westminster and the non-SNP National Parties, it all distills into vitriol against the people in them, not the bricks & mortar.
