The Torygraph piece has a headline and article that are at odds with each other. As the piece states, nobody had the time to read the amendment in question let alone decide how to vote.

September 2, 2015David Cameron has offered compromises over the rules governing a referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU to quell a nascent rebellion by eurosceptic Conservative MPs.
Fresh concessions on Wednesday appeared to represent the second victory in two days for those campaigning for Britain to leave the EU after the government agreed the previous day to change the wording of the referendum question...
...The attempt to suspend purdah angered eurosceptic Tory MPs, who planned to join forces with the Labour opposition to defeat the government — potentially the most serious threat to the prime minister’s authority since his victory in May’s general election. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

It was more in order to prove that Generali was completely wrong ( again ) to be honest. Tory rebels would in fact vote with Labour in order to get what they want. He stated that I was certifiable for saying so. However, Cameron is having to appease rebels, as reported in various media outlets, such as the Telegraph, the FT and the Independent... in order to pass votes through already. Is hardly inspiring for the next five years is it ?
Yes, the SNP run a tight ship.. for the very reasons detailed above. Too much in-fighting is not a good look for any party. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

It won them 56 seats out of 59 in Scotland a few months ago. Two Holyrood general elections, where they look very likely to win a third term. Whatever they're doing seems to be working quite well for them... Why deviate from a winning formula ?It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Not to mention all the recent by elections recently as well ... And increasing their margins ... And we shouldn't of course discuss the results from yesterday's poll, whilst not exactly SNP related completely ( apart from Nicola satisfaction) they do indicate a stronger support for SNP0

Wait until things start going wrong.
And they will.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -
TBH kabayiri, I don't think that they can. There's no way that Cameron is going to put up a second referendum and it would be impossible to defend the expense and disruption to the people paying for it: the English.
Who's asking Cameron ? There is no dispute that there is the scope there for another referendum if the Scottish Government decides to hold one. In fact, its been just about the first question asked of Nicola Sturgeon in every press interview/leaders debate since she became the First Minister...
And those doing the 'when are you holding another referendum' are generally those against one. But there seems to be no real narrative coming through that they'll never be able to hold another one... and certainly not because 'David Cameron won't allow one'.
The SNP at the moment are wrestling with what they'll say about mandating for one in their conference in October. Everyone else is simply speculating on the timing and what the catalyst will be to bring the next one about. There seem to be no real 'believers' in the fact that a second one won't be allowed to take place. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Yes they will. You're right. But it took about 50 years for things to start going wrong for Labour in Scotland. So the SNP even having a small portion of the same, still gives them a bit of leeway and 'wait and see' time over the next few years. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Not really, it's the SNP that have been talking about a referendum since before the GE and since e.g. Sturgeon stating that a leave vote in the EU Referendum would be grounds for one in Scotland. It's merely a continuation of transparent attempts to fabricate a good enough winge.Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.
It's the only way to fly straight.0
