Shocking lack of competence from the SNP government.
Lack of competence or fraud? The implication is that it's the latter.0 -
Let's put this email spoofing/harvesting in context.
I might be able to guess/know the email address of someone in the public eye, like this SNP lady.
It's unlikely I will get her other details correct.
The fact is some people in the public eye have been careless with their details :
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/08/20/the_ashley_madison_files_are_people_really_this_stupid/
The details check out in a number of cases.
100 .gov.uk email addresses, so not one or two.
When you sign in to a government computer, there is a warning page presented about inappropriate use.
If you choose to ignore these warnings, it's your decision alone.
Guido Fawkes :- August 21, 2015 at 3:08 pmFollowing the revelation that an email address belonging to SNP MP Michelle Thomson was used by somebody to sign up to adultery website Ashley Madison, Guido asked a highly trained data monkey – Jeremy Bullock from Centrix Software – to take a forensic look at all the available information related to the account. Here’s what he found…1. The email address is flagged as invalidFrom the data it seems evident that someone other than Michelle Thomson signed up for the account. Definitely a prank…
2. The account was last updated on 30/04/2015 19:06:57
3. The postcode given was EH12 7AF
4. Date of Birth 01/01/1978
5. Her nickname was stated as ‘michsnp’ rather than the usual prosaic variety
6. The sign up ip address was 81.98.177.38
7. There is no data in the am_am.member table. This records preferences, looking for, etc etc and is the definitive record for signup
8. There are no credit card transactions recorded for her
Your posts on this are examples of pure wishful thinking and conclusion jumping. Waiting for facts to emerge is always preferable. Please note points 1) and 7) and 8 ) in particular. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

@Shakey - Michelle who?
But seriously, I don't approve of intrusion into people's private lives, politicians included. It would have to be a very serious thing for me to get outraged by it. That said politicians are a special case where they get insults thrown at them and, more relevantly, throw insults at others which go way beyond the level of justified comment.
Whether the account was genuinely that of Michelle What's-her-name is not proven one way or the other. Anyone with any slight sense would have an eye on deniability in such sensitive things, and it's entirely feasible that the details of the subscription were altered by the person that opened it. I "thought better" of the details I had put on Facebook due to the "Spam" I was getting and modified my entry accordingly.
Yes I do note the last modified date, but nothing is proven either way. Mud will stick whether earned or not.
Anyway, as I said, my contribution is forgetting about Michelle What's-her-name.Union, not Disunion

An oil rig worker in the North Sea
North Sea oil revenues in the first three months of 2015 were down 75% on the previous quarter, the Scottish Conservatives have said.
The Scottish government's quarterly national accounts show that the amount received in tax receipts between January and March was £168m.
This was down from £742m oil revenues in the final three months of 2014.
Finance Minister John Swinney said oil was a bonus - not the basis of the economy.

Against an annual spending total that is around £1700 per person higher than the rUK, and onshore tax revenues that are around £300 per person lower.
Just highlights the truly catastrophic financial situation we'd be facing had Scotland been silly enough to vote for indy.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

We're getting ever closer to the 18 month mark when an independent Scotland would have been expected to live or die on her own two feet.
I think those were the weasel words before: We wouldn't have been independent yet so fiscal figures don't matter. The oil price is down again over the last month or so BTW. WTI is closing in on $40/bbl and Brent remained well below $50, last time I looked a few days ago.
Best keep watering the money tree if Scotland wants any sort of financial independence from Westminster.
Interesting that Nationalists on here have been pretty quiet about the fraud/incompetence that has led to the EU not paying out substantial sums to Scotland. Has it been the same round your way HAMISH?0 -
