I needed some humility. The last time I got on my knees was the week I stopped drinking, and I think my ego has got rather large in the 19 months since. Shall be hitting my knees more often!

Day Three has gone well :) Off to bed happy and with real peace of mind.

Hope you are all good :)

Hi everyone. Having not posted on this thread for ages I just thought I would drop by and see how you are all doing.

Feelinggood.....19 month is amazing hunny! Good on you girl!!! :grouphug: (thats meant to be a big hug by the way....even though it looks a bit pervy!)

Brodev..... regarding post No. 968. I love and admire your honesty, and down-to-earth view of what sobriety can be like. That post really helped me today, so thank you ;)

Hi to anyone I dont know, and I hope you all have a sober, peaceful day.

p.s.... I hope no one minds if I blow my own trumpet here...but I reached 7 years sober last week. And it was people just like you lovely bunch that helped me get there.

I'm so glad you told us. Many congratulations. I think that we all need to know that what we are talking about isn't just a theory. Sobriety is achievable and on a daily basis it can last for years.

I'm only on a week short of nine months, but I'm proud enough of that!

Rarely give booze a thought nowadays, even when my OH is having his nightly can. Got very stressed last week about something fairly trivial but annoying, and even then I didn't want to drown myself in blotto juice. I believe I am cured, but it is dangerous to say "never" isn't it?

Keep the faith Feely and others who are still struggling. There's no feeling like knowing it doesn't have power over you any more.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Bogof-Babe.... it made me smile when you described yourself as ONLY a week short of nine months. Never mind 'only'........A week short of nine months is a flipping long time hun!! You have every right to be proud of yourself!! ;)

Well done on 9 months Bogof :)

I'm feeling good at the moment. Makes a nice change :D

Does it get easier to trust that things will work out? I find that when I'm good, I have a nice relationship with HP, but when things are tough, I feel abandoned and can't see that its going to be alright.

The simple answer is YES. http://www.llerrah.com/footprints.htm. That sums it up better than I can explain.
Bogoff, you are a credit to yourself and we are all proud of you.

Thanks for that link Brodev.......brought a tear to my eye, I'll be forwarding that link on to a few people I know need to hear/see it.

I've only recently decided that I'm going to kick the drinking into touch again. I've decided this many times before, but it was always from the view of 'I should' and beating myself up when I 'failed again'.....

It feels different this time.....I seem to be a bit more centred, and mindful of the effects it is having on me (mind and body)....it seems that the physical effects of binge drinking has finally dawned on me (it has dawned many times, generally the morning after, but I chose to ignore this the next time I felt like 'a drink or two' that generally lead to the most of a bottle:rolleyes: ).

Still better late than never eh!

    Take care...and well done all:T
