Well Im away to bed not having had a drink today. And believe me that really is an acheivement

AA was good for me tonight. Both the reading and the table could have been picked for me turning up, I got a lot of identification from both.

Aand the best part is Ive come away realising how mad my head has been, not just recently but for a while. So although Im still in a pretty rough place Im more at ease and know I have the skills and stratagies to get me through and forwards. I think my biggest "sins" have been projecting and not keeping it in the day. Ive allowed everything to become too big and therefore unmanageable, so thats left me feeling totally out of control, angry. stressed and fearful = DRINK.

Another meeting tomorrow lunchtime and then Thursday night.

Welcome back Lewt. Just got back from the docs. She said that my heart (which was failing due to alcoholic cardiomyopathy) has totally recovered somehow. "Miracles sometimes happen" is what she said. Not the kidneys though. Oh well.
University going well. I got pretty good marks in the first semester, and am trying to decide what course to do next year.
It certainly beats lying drunk on the kitchen floor.
    Keep well everyone.

A very belated but nonetheless sincere thank you  Brodev. Some 4th birthday that was  ! I was rushed into hosp in the morning of the 24th with pneumonia and there I stayed until today - just back and still sore but at least I can breathe today. I've discovered I quite like breathing, find it help me focus on living

After 4 years I wouldn't give tuppence for a drink, after 2 years there are times I'd still like a cig. Or so I thought til this past few days, **years of smoking have left their legacy and albeit a little late I've suddenly gone right off the idea!

Hoping all is well with everybody, sorry I haven't had time to read the posts - I will tomorrow - but just needed my MSE fix after 7 days withdrawal symptoms and to catch up with a quick note.

    Take care n God bless

    Sparrer

Hi folks, I have been running about madly for the last 3-4 weeks. I have had visitors to Portugal and I have been back to Scotland. I arrived back here on Sunday and had another visitor arrive Monday. Being popular makes a pleasant change from being a pariah. I do hope that all is well with everybody. I am well but tired.

Good heavens! I nearly searched for this thread the other day ('twas my 18 months anniversary :) ) but I thought I'd never find it!

Everything is tickety-boo here, waiting impatiently for summer proper to arrive. Can't believe we've used up a third of the year already. There will be Christmas cards in the shops soon!

Hope all is well with everyone else. Do pop in if you're passing :rotfl:.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

I'm coming up to 2.5 years. I survived the delivery of my baby, pain relief worked itself out in the end. I had to be induced, so had an epidural. Didn't give full coverage though (ouch!) so at the end I asked for Gas & Air. Was concerned about using it, especially as it did make me feel drunk. It wasn't nice, but didn't trigger any cravings afterwards, and I don't feel it threatened my sobriety at all. I waited as long as I could before having pain relief, but I genuinely needed it and I think I made the right choice.

Hope all is well with everyone. Congrats on 18 months Bogof :)
