I wont lie I did buy something.......
but it was only small I swear! I don't know why I did but I did and it was only £3!
Thanks alant1000 for all your advice, I will take it on board!!! Also, about the OCD, I think it is quite possible. As I child I used to wash my hands about 100 times a day and they were red raw. My sister also has OCD, she's constantly switching things off, and she checks and rechecks and rechecks everything!
Today was pretty good. I managed to get some more boxes packed for leaving and some other stuff sorted. Also planned to go away with my sister for the weekend, will be good to have some time out. Nothing expensive (!) just staying with some friends, so I'm looking forward to that.
Maybe you are being a little hard on yourself though, you point out that you have no debts.... when it becomes a real problem is if you genuinly cant afford what you are buying and you get in trouble... but its best to nip it in the bud early though. I buy stuff on ebay all the time, i went through a phase of buying loads of rare records at about £50 each but as i could afford it, i dont see the issue. I think part of the problem is that you are worried about the fact that you worry!
I used to do the handwashing thing, i still tap things like me steering wheel, use biros as drumsticks at my desk, do about 10 cups of tea a day, am obsessed with keeping my car clean etc, but its just part of my personality
. Dont be so hard on yourself and you might chill a bit - look at the realistic things both money and otherwise you can do. But i would recommend a chat with your GP if it gets you down though
I never missed a payment :T , I paid off all my credit cards :T , I paid of all my loans :T , i have a work mobile :T - but am now "medium" credit risk

Oh milly, I just typed you up a message but the bloomin' website crashed and lost it. So I'll just say goodnight to you all, and will 'see' you online tomorrow at some point. Take care. £3 is not bad for a slip-up xxxxx:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

alant1000....you are absolutely right, I am a complete worrier! I don't really have the money, but I guess at least it's my money I'm spending. 6 months ago I wasn't worried about my spending as I had a good income but now the money I have just now is all I have got! Whilst I've been sorting through all my stuff for moving, I've realised just how much crap I have. Now I'm aspiring to be a minimalist!
Aww Whitewing, that is the most annoying thing ever! thanks again :)xxxx0 -
Morning milly and everyone. The sun is shining, OH and I are off to Devon for a meeting (and lunch with some very good people), just the kind of day to get lots done!
Hope all goes well for you today, milly. Let us know how you get on. It would be interesting if you set yourself an ebay challenge for Aug (how much to make or how many no-spend days or something) and put it online so we could cheer you on.
Back this evening. Take care.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Good stuff prettymiller. Keep it going!! You don't need any more tat. It's just future clutter/junk.
Clear desk/house = clear mind.
I think you need something healthy/productive to get into. Millions of people are obsesed with things when you start talking about hobbies and stuff.
What about your dog? Surely taking him/her out if more fun, especially in weather like this. Do you actively train him/her? That's very rewarding for you and the dog.0 -
Before you buy anything, always ask "Do I need it? Will I use it? Is there better use of my money? Will I still want it next week?". I try to. In this cheap tat world it is hard to keep your bargain gene under control.
You should get more satisfaction from not buying something.
Out of interest, what sort of suff do you buy?
I have to admit to having a bit of an ebay habit too. I usually get stuff cheap, but eneoughs enough now. Unless I genuinely need something (I'm doing my house/garden up and ebay is great), I try and stay away.
Maybe you could start a "No Ebay tat challenge", similar to the pay off your mortgage in 3 years and the others. Could be popular...0 -
I've started turning the PC/router off when i've finsihed online. I used to leave it on pretty much 24/7 on the coffee table. It's weird to start with. Especially if I do the same with the telly. But a bit of peace is nice once you get used to it.0

Whitewing, to "save" a long post, I just press Ctl A, Ctl C to quickly highlight and copy it 1st. Especially if MSE is being slow.0

Yeah it's a beautiful day! Took the dog out this morning it was nice, we're lucky to live in such beautiful surroundings. I absolutely adore my dog but he's not very well trained and I don't think he ever will be! But I still enjoy taking him out, even if it is a struggle to get out of bed in the morning.
Hope you enjoyed your day whitewing, and I hope the meal was good! I bet its gorgeous in Devon today! I'm going out for dinner later too with a good friend.
thanks to everyone xxx0 -
Oh, and in answer to your question ixwood, I almost always buy clothes, shoes and makeup. I'll often buy something like a nice dress but convince myself that I am too fat to wear it and that's that.
Been feeling really low today. Went out with a friend which was good but generally been feeling rubbish about myself. I have put on a bit of weight recently and it really upsets me. When I'm unhappy I binge eat and although it's good that I don't make my sick as often as I used to, I am piling on weight because of it. I know this is a whole other issue but just something that makes me feel very unhappy.
On a good note, today I have mostly stayed away from my laptop and not made any unnecessary purchases
