Hi again, milly. Just popping in for a quick visit. Keep determined not to buy anymore. What else are you going to do today? I think poppyjay is right - it would be worth making an appointment to see your doctor. (Worth asking about cognitive based therapy(?) as I've heard that can be very helpful.)
I will check on you later. Take care and keep talking to us.

    Morning,

I think you have been brave in posting and will now get lots of help. I too have a bad body image although people always comment that i am really attractive. I just don't see what they see!!! I find that when i am depressed about my appearance i pamper myself. Put a facepack on read a mag in a nice bubble bath etc. Paint your nails and you'll feel 'brighter'. I know these aren't a cure all but certainly help me when i'm feeling that way. It would also occupy some of your time so you stay off ebay.

Good luck with today's no spend challenge.

thanks so much to everyone for your support, you're all so kind :)

I've been depressed before, I don't really want to take any medication but I tried cbt and I didn't like it, but that was about 2 years ago.

I'm not feeling very well today :( so I'm not really doing anything. I've managed to get some sleep though so feel a bit better. The most I'll probably do today is walk the dog and do some cooking.

I might also pamper myself a bit as this always helps a bit. especially painting my nails I can't go and use my laptop with wet nails!

Pinkfluff posted a game called anagrammatic last night and quite a few MSE'rs have been challenging each other on there. It is addictive. Why don't you give it a go?? Let harmful than ebay!!

Sorry can't do links but if you type anagrammatic in the search bar i would think you will get link to it.

Lots to do at the mo but may see you on there later if you fancy a game.

    Hi
I thought for a while I was getting too hooked on ebay but have tried to use other sites, this one, but also travel, news anything interesting but 'free'
Agree with others you might find it helpful to speak to your doc, if cbt and medicine not work for u what about counselling? GP may be able to arrange some support for you

A more active/busy life will maybe help. What interests do you have? Do you like sports? Exercise releases hormones that make you feel good and invigorated. Join clubs, or online forums and get busy.

You'll never be truely happy until you accept (and like) you and get on with your life. Adverts and glossy mags are designed to make you feel inferior, so you spend money trying to get some self worth. Cruel, but that's advertising. Don't buy into it!

There's millions of people of this planet that would LOVE to be as lucky as you. You're healthy, safe and don't go hungry.

Repeat after me.. I'm a good person. We're all different. Noone is any better or worse than me. I'm a good person. We're all different. Noone is any better or worse than me. I'm a good person. We're all different. Noone is any better or worse than me. I'm a good person. We're all different. Noone is any better or worse than me. I'm a good person. We're all different. Hi milly! I was thinking about you this afternoon. Hope you are good & the dog had a good walk.

Take things step by step for the next few days. Little improvements at a time. Have you managed not to ebay today? Whether you did or didn't, let us know and we can help you get on the straight and narrow eventually.

I am a saver by nature too, but spent so long as a single parent without much money that when I sold my house last year, I used some of the money for all the things I'd gone without for so long. There are quite a few thousand pounds that I spent that I don't exactly know how and have nothing to show for it, so I needed to wake up a bit myself! Doesn't come easily and I regret some things I did but I am now in a much stronger position attitude-wise than I have ever been with regard to money. So there will be slip ups along the way but we've all had them.
Money-wise, it can get better. Depression-wise, that can get better too. I know - in my late teens I spent two weeks in hospital after various attempts to not be here. I couldn't imagine a day where I wouldn't be exceptionally hurt by something that someone said or that I would ever feel that I was worthy. I'm very happy to say that over the past year I have days when it wouldn't even occur to me to be anything other than genuinely happy. And this change didn't come from buying anything amazing, or earning loads of money, or having a great partner. It came from me being kind and understanding to myself for the first times ever. And sometimes even when you're feeling motivated and great the whole world seems to be against you even trying. But come and talk to us about it and we'll help you put it in perspective. Take care. I have to go now, but will be back later.

Do you have a garden? Getting back to nature can be very satisfying (and cheap).

Any volunteer work you can take on? If that doesn't give you satisfaction and self worth, nothing will!!
