I'm glad it's not actually me that smells, it could well have been the scarf I was wearing. Will make sure everything gets a good wash again. No idea how you might go about washing your handbags though Baileysonice, mine are mostly leather so will use some leather wipes and possibly some fabreeze on the inside. Failing that I may have to buy some new ones with my newly acquired wealth lol.:T Looking forward to the future :T0

Day 16 for me! Was propelled into stopping due to being admitted to hospital with Boerhaave's Syndrome (ruptured Esophagus) on 4th Jan. I returned home on 17th and still not touched a cig. Having the odd NiQuitin Lozenge but can honestly say its not bothering me in slightest. I smoked 20-30 a day since I was 16 now 33. After everything I went through in hospital I realise my health has to come 1st.0

At the moment everything that can be washed is being washed and I will take it from there but on the other hand I like your idea of new handbagsjust checking in to see how everyone is doing -- well done us --

Way to go Jen and I know what you mean about the bank account. I reckon I am saving a lot more actually as most of the time when I nipped in to get some coffin nails I would spend another £20 or so too. Now if I dont need it I dont go to the shopsDay 16 for me! Thats one good reason to stop dollydebs and well done for your success. Sadly most people don't realise the importance of health until something gives them a wake up call. Hopefully we have all stopped before it stopped us0 -

Hi there
Has anyone experience of ' Vaping ' ?
Do these things have the same ' hit ' as a cigarette ?
Thankyou0 -
Nigelh66. It's not the same hit as a cigarette but I actually prefer the taste of it now.:T Looking forward to the future :T0

Hi quitters
Checking in to see how everyone is doing.
18 days for me now and going strong :j My sense of smell has come back big style which is a good and bad thing. I can smell old cigarette smoke, BO, bad breath, farts () and all the other unpleasant things in life (not just on me btw :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
On the other hand my perfume lasts all day, the fabric conditioner I use now actually lingers around, food generally smells lush and my home is starting to smell fresher although this I fear is going to take some paint to sort completely.
nigelh66 - I am using an e cigarette to stop too and as rockqueen says its not the same but can certainly help if you are thinking of stopping.
Onwards to week 3 now with the next mission in mind as well which is to curb the food/wine intake as I really really don't need to be dealing with a weight issue as well:o
Good luck all and keep at it0 -
I have smoked for 30+ years. I never smoked when pregnant or breast feeding. I really want to quit. I have tried the patches so many times but a) I'm allergic to the glue and b) the nightmares were horrendous.
I would like to try the ecigs but I have no idea what to buy, where to buy etc... Could anyone help me out please?
Thank you.
Just like you, I didn't know what e-cig to buy, there's so many different makes.
I noticed that our local Home Bargains sold them, but they were in a glass cabinet behind a till, so because of customers queueing, I couldn't really see them.
Visited another Home Bargains and noticed the e-cigs and liquid on the shelf of an end aisle, near the tills. The cig cost £5.99 and the liquid 99p! I bought 2 e-cigs then when the battery needed charging, I could smoke the other.
I've now not smoked a real cigarette for 6 weeks. I'd been smoking for over 40 years. In that time I once gave up for 18 months, but had been unable to since.
Only slight problem I had was a few weeks ago, the e-cig liquid seemed to loose it's taste. I looked on google and realised that I probably had something called Vapor's Tongue. This is not a sore tongue, but I think it's something to do with the senses at the back of your nose or your tongue.
There are different cures such as change the flavour of the liquid you are vaping, or suck a lemon, or sniff freshly ground coffee beans and other cures I can't remember. Didn't have any of these cures in our house, so I sniffed our jar of strong instant coffee. And it worked. My e-cig taste was back the next morning.(apologies to other posters if they've already typed about Vaper's Tongue. I've not had time to read all the thread.)
(Editing this to tell babyemily that you can buy different strengths of e liquid. As a heavy smoker, I prob. should have gone to a different shop and bought 24mg strength. However I don't think Home Bargains sell that strength so I bought 18mg. (I think they also sell a lower strength bottle.) However I've been fine with no urge to light a real cig.
You can elsewhere buy eliquid with no nicotine in it for people who just enjoy vaping.)0
