Giving up smoking

Morning all,
Well done fellow quitters we are getting there. It's great to be able to say 'I don't smoke'.
So far I'm on day 12 and have saved £40. I can't imagine what I would have saved if I had smoked regular cigarettes instead of rollies. I'm putting the money into a separate account and in a years time I should have well over a grand. I'm not sure what I will spend the money on but it will be something special.
Keep going guys x:T Looking forward to the future :T0 -

:T:T:T:T:T Well done rockqueen :T:T:T:T:T
I smoked regular ones and according to my app I have saved £115 :eek:
I have set up a direct debit today for £70 a week to head to my savings otherwise I will not see the benefit. In time this will head to overpay my mortgage. Its really eye watering when you think about it, I use supermarket delivery for my food/drinks and this week I really stuggled to meet the minimum shop without my usual packs of fags going in0 -
I've just done a bit of sums and I think I've saved between £9,000 and £12,000 over the past 8 years (with rolling tobacco it's hard to be accurate) That's absolutely jaw-dropping. Blimey.0

Well done fellow non-smokers (it's quite weird thinking of myself as a non-smoker rather than a smoker who hasn't had a cigarette for a couple of weeks) and I hope you all had a good weekend.
I got another small test out of the way and went to the pub yesterday for football and lunch and it was nowhere near as hard as I thought it'd be. Hopefully when I go for a proper night out it'll be the same.0 -
You can quit smoking immediately if you are mentally very stable about your decision. You can use pills like Zyban which conatian Bupiropen 150 mg. This pill will reduce your urge to smoke any nicotine content product.0

Well done Izadora2 weeks down for me too now its all good
Agree about the night out fears but I do know this time I can never have just that one cigarette. Luckily very few people actually seem to smoke now so its probably easier than it would have been when I everyone I knew smoked. You can quit smoking immediately if you are mentally very stable about your decision. I used both Zyban and Champix in the past and neither worked for me. This time its working so I wont be using any drugs bar the e cigarette occasionally0 -
2 weeks for me too! Well done us!
One thing I noticed today was that I smelt a faint wiff of tobacco coming from me. (I think) Does the e cig make you smell the same as the flavour of vapour that comes out? Perhaps I'm just being paranoid. I've also noticed that my sense of taste is more intense (I can actually taste food properly now) and is improving day on day. However there are certain foods and drinks that I used to love (particularly a certain Rioja) that just don't taste the same anymore and I'm not that keen on the new taste.:T Looking forward to the future :T0 -

No they don't smell rockqueen but heres a thing - you didn't have a handbag or coat on that you used pre giving up did you? The reason I ask is I opened my laptop bag today and it stunk like someone had just sat inside it and had a fagI am going through my clothes and bags now to see how many of them are washable. Old fag smell is revolting
have to admit though I still enjoy the odd whiff of someone smoking when I walk past.
You need to test lots of new Riojas now to find the non smoking version now0 -

When I decided to quit I spent several weeks before I quit, getting rid of or cleaning everything I owned which might smell of fags. I did it with military precision. I spring cleaned a room at a time and then that became a no smoking zone. I also cleaned the car interior, all handbags, coats, everything I could think of. I wanted to make sure that once I did quit, there would be no traces to tempt me again.
I used to volunteer in a charity shop and we knew immediately whether donated goods came from a smoking household. Clothes, shoes, bags, books, ornaments .... Everything retains the stink! A lot of stuff we had to bin because customers complained of the shop smelt but we would wash China. It used to amaze me that mirrors and pictures would be covered in a film of yellow grunge which wasn't visible until you started cleaning it.0 -
I was talking to my two, now very grown up, kids a while back, we were having a laugh over how I'd ask them when they were teenagers if they'd been smoking and they say definitely not. They genuinely believed I couldn't tell they'd been smoking from the smell on their clothes and hair.
Now both ex smokers they can't believe how daft that was.
I can still nail a Marlborough light on the clothes and hear a Rizla rolling at 50 meters !0
