Giving up smoking

Well done all, only we know how hard it all is.
Just over the nine month mark for me but still have the urge a few times a day. I have a feeling in the mouth that only goes away with a bit of chewing gum, strange. I just don't want to get addicted to chewing gum ha ha.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Well done everyone!
Day 9 and still going strong. I'm still using the e cig and will continue to use with it for a little while yet before I start to cut it out. Struggling with food though, having really bad sugar cravings and can't stop stuffing my face. I think it's mostly emotional eating as at times I'm feeling lost and a bit down. Need to put a stop to the rubbish food before it gets out of hand and I put on 2 stone (like last time I stopped) and struggle to get any of it off.
Keep going guys! X:T Looking forward to the future :T0 -
When you look at the people out there (like me) who can witter on and say I gave up 5, 10, 20 years ago just remember we all did "Day 9 feel like a zombie, day 12 I can't carry on" or whatever.
You are a non-smoker who's given up. Everybody has to have the first day, then week and it moves into months and years so don't lose hope !
It's a little bit like when you see an old couple that's been married for 50 years, they didn't do 50 years all at once, just one day at a time.
Come on my lovelies you ARE doing it X0 -

Checking in to see how my 2 co stoppers are doing
I am doing Ok - 10 days 11 hours and 27 minutes so far :j :j
Oh and £105 quid saved :eek:
Don't think I am eating much more although I have noticed where I used to leave food quite a bit then I could get to my fag quicker I am actually finishing it all now so keeping a close eye on this as the last thing I want to deal with next is a weight problem.
Using the e cig quite a bit but this is really helping me so I figure I can give it up far easier than giving up the cancer sticks.
Hope everyone is doing OK and have a lovely smoke free weekend0 -

That is a big saving!!!!!
I'm up to 11 days and 13 hours now and £66 saved. If I have any cravings I just remind myself how far I've already made it and keep telling myself that I got through the worst of it so it can't be too hard to keep going (even if it feels like the hardest thing on earth sometimes).
Have a good weekend everyone.0 -

I know its shameful to think I spent that much without any real thought.
I like you're thinking and you are absolutely right if we go back now we will have to do this nasty bit all over again.
The way I see it is that I will never regret not smoking but I certainly would regret having that one that starts the whole thing off again0 -
Afternoon everyone. I quit on the 11th January 2006 and I've not smoked a cigarette since. I took Zyban (Wellbutrin in the US) and it totally worked for me. Quitting was traumatic but as the days passed I got over it. Each day that goes by without a cigarette gets easier, although it can mean that cravings are more of a surprise.
The only really solid advice I can give is that no craving lasts longer than 10 minutes. You only need 10 minutes of willpower at a time (though that will be often at first).
Once you've gone past a few weeks you'll start to relax and unwind and start to wonder what all the fuss was about. After a couple of months your skin will improve, your taste will get better.
I discovered that wine actually tastes nice after I gave up smoking!
Good luck everyone!0
