Congrats to vjsmum - that is such a big change. Will definitely be easier to study in an uncluttered space.
Love the quote about stealing from yourself and one uk-American posted.
Oh is getting more books down from the loft and has also chosen a few of his own to go.
I told him about mins game and he raised an eye brow but said nothing. He is actually the tidy one of the household so doesn't have my zeal of the recently converted.
Was talking to my dad on the phone earlier. He hasn't had a sort out for a while and his flat is very full of all sorts. He said that if he did have a clear out it would only encourage him to buy more stuff. It's funny because I don't feel like that at all. Even though things are (very slowly) becoming clearer I have on desire to buy anything but the bare essentials.0 -
The Kondoing of the job has moved a step closer...
I have been offered a PhD studentship... :j:j
Just need to make sure the details are right
Before, in the words of, Elphaba, "it's time to close my eyes and leap"
Congratulations VJsmum
What you might find (I did) is that it is initially a bit of a culture shock going from a management type job back to being a student
I am sure it was very good for my soul though! :rotfl:0 -

Congratulations! :T :jA good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

Fab news, VJsmum! :T
I can't get used to the way solutions just offer themselves to you.
Kitchen utensils have found a home in a drawer - been driving me bonkers as some of them were quite tall and I kept bashing the underside of the cupboard above.
Kids' lunchboxes - these are the bane of my life. They kept falling out of the cupboard whenever the door was opened and would end up being kicked across the floor. Now they are hung on hooks inside the cupboard door! Genius! So simple.0 -
Great news, VJsmum - sounds like the perfect opportunity.
UK American, I love that quote - so very true.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Thanks all - just got to make sure the money side works out..
A bit scary though
:jI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
:T Yeah, but if it wasn't scary, would it be enough of a challenge?
Have been busily listing some stuff on freegle and packaging some other stuff for chazzer donation in the next few days. I came back from the parental home laden with things which are to be gifted away, one way or the other. I personally travel very light, you'd never know that from seeing me on and off the buses as I beaver about the decluttering.
Hope to get the chazzer bag off in the next couple of days, going to wait until it stops raining (if it ever does, dammit, knew I shouldn't've given that ark away).Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
