Kondoed via fr**gle today a small under desk cabinet/cupboard thing, a bedside drawer unit, a brand new never been out of the box lava lamp, a bean bag and a load of unused cushions:j

Yep, jinny, I think it was I, who commented on your daily short-list of 3 to-dos. I also keep a second list of tasks to do, 'when I get round tuit'. Then, if I find extra energy and motivation, I can tackle one of them without any pressure. :D

yes I have a longer round tuit list too :)

I think I need to take a second pass over the photos - you lot have inspired me.

i think there will be many photo passes before they are done - especially as OH will insist on vetting each one.

Two things came out of the charity bag and back in the drawer yesterday :( Talked myself out of getting rid - even though i don't want them. I will have to be firmer and just get them out.... The White stuff top that was mugging me off when overseas is still loitering around the drawer also. What is happening to me????

Come on Marie, work your magic

I've just read something really good
On stuff we paid 'good' money' for

"Holding on to stuff we paid good money for
Does NOT unwaste the good money we paid for it."
    Brilliant LBM!

I just put a lovely soft purple velvet dress I paid good money for years ago.
    Into the chazzer bag.
I loved to wear it, fitted me perfectly. A plain classic style, it came out at Xmas/new year parties.
Got my money's worth out of it.
However It doesn't fit me anymore
    I realised I wasn't getting rid because....I loved to
    Feel the fabric???!!!! Crazy

  • VJs mum - when I feel I'm dithering, and it happens frequently to me, I remind myself to focus on feeling rather than thoughts/words/arguments.

Does it spark joy? If so, keep it - if not, forget about all the rationalising (it might be useful/it cost a lot/it reminds me of that holiday) and thank it before setting it free.

Photos are going to take me more than one attempt, I'm sure.

Jinny - been there, done that. I'm seriously thinking of making a cushion from one favourite item so I can go on stroking it!

  • Hello all, I'm a very ratty dragon today and getting out to feed my friend's cat was powered by irritation. (TMI - never knew myE/CFS would extend to my monthly, uterus currently feels twice it's normal size and is incredibly uncomfortable)

I'm considering buying a display case for my dragons so I can keep the surfaces clearer. Have realised there will be very few places in my bedroom where I can see the skirting boards if I do. So I'm going to pack the dragons away for a few days to test if the clear space is worth it.

Karmacat, MMF007 glad you enjoy the sig! John Donne was definitely a Good Egg; and since he was originally talking about his sins I'm sure he wouldn't object to my applying his words to my sins of collection.

I was feeling a bit down about the loads of carp this morning, but have cheered up a bit after reading everyone's posts.

    Today's Min's game:

    Day 5:
    - 4 catalogues
    - booklet of interesting (but not do-able) courses
    - old newspaper
    - multiple advertising inserts from today's post (why do they do it?)
    - old magazine

I've made a new rule not to leave a room without taking out with me one thing which either doesn't belong there or needs to be got rid of. It may help!

dragonette - hope you soon feel better, light up that dragon fire!

yes I considered making a cushion. The colour wouldn't really go in the house though. There's a tutorial on you tube for Canadian smocking cushion covers. I must do that one day I am quite crafty and can sew
However it's such a lovely dress I think it would be a shame to cut it up.
I thank it for all the great parties we've both attended
We had ourselves a ball at times. No, I send it off with the hope that someone who will buy it have a great time wearing it too.
Eee listen to me it's only a dress for goodness sakellllll lol
Garments do evoke such memories don't they but they are only pieces of clothing not memories of the time we wore them
The wedding dress however if anyone can recall when I posted how I nearly come a cropper flinging it off a cliff!!

Jinny - thanks for posting the Minimalists website. Just had a quick look & pleased to repost that I do make my bed every day (as I can't stand the sight of an unmade one!) No TV in the bedroom ('cos when I did I just fell asleep during a programme!) but I do like the idea of a donation basket - I have just the thing ;) which chimes well with having an exit strategy for kondo'd items.

I sneaked one banana box full of stuff out of the house and into the secondhand shop.

Parents are here for the week, babysitting my dds 7 and 4 yrs old during Belgian halfterm, so no kondoing.

Mum is kondoing, though. They don't want to leave me with a mess clearing out their house 'when the time comes'. I'm executioner of their will, seeing my sister fell out with them 2 years ago, and is a forceful character at the best of times. She has been known to go through inheritances and take out items for colleague's daughters (and other people in that range), before all the deceased's relatives and friends had made their choice. My parents wanted to give me some more power to say 'no' :-) .

There are plenty of reasons for sis' behaviour, most of them related to early-childhood trauma. When she is moving in any direction, she usually gets where she wants to be; it just needs to be curbed occasionally. If I'm a bit unclear, never mind. I don't want to kondo her from my life completely, but there are plenty of times when she does not spark joy.
