I have been trying to get more minimalist with my 'beauty' routine, such as it is, as I'm already quite low maintenance.:DAdmittedly, if I was any more minimalist with my 'beauty routine', I'd probably be arrested, but I just use a regular cotton flannel and ordinary soap, followed by a quick splash of water.
Most people IRL are a touch irritated when they discover I'm 51 and not about 40..... less is definately more.;)
Have been busy all day but have a started a wee listy which I may post later this evening, it's still well below 12 items, tho.
Re bedlinen, I have two kingsize burgundy quilts, in a nice cotton, with 5 (was 6, one wore out) matching pillowcases. I also have a non-kingsize grey checked brushed cotton quilt cover which comes out when the nights get cold, and for which I have an entirely unreasonable fondness, it's just soooo snuggly. So fond, that I don't care about ruckling the king-size quilt into the double-size case a little. Family cast-off, not me buying the wrong size btw.
Apart from that, I have pure cotton flat sheets (about 10) and a similar quantity of random pillowcases. Which I am keeping and I will be good for bedlinen for about 20+ years, I reckon. They'll exit when they're worn out.
Hokay, if we're sharing the airing cupboard contents, let's get serious; how many towels have you got a) in total and b) with names?
GARY and TROPICAL towel are in the cupboard and SPORT was donated because I didn't like its texture. I also have a hand towel called MANISTA which is a motor product promo I was given (am a deeply-glamourous woman).
One of the Towels with No Name is out at the moment; candystripe one.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Ahem.
I own a hand towel with Le Gavroche printed on it.
No idea how I came by that *whistles with hands in pockets*Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
I don't have any towels with names on (although I may have a napkin called (the) Ivy.......)
In our bathroom we have 2 bath sheets, 6 bath towels, 3 hand towels and maybe 3 or 4 flannels. All colour co-ordinated to our room and only for our use. DD has 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, a dinky little teeny towel about the size of two flannels and 2 flannels. Again, all colour co-ordinated to her bathroom. The 3 boys have 6 bath towels, about 4 hand towels and 3 or 4 flannels. DC towels are kept in airing cupboard. Our towels are in a chest of drawers in our bathroom. Oh - downstairs loo has a total of 3 available handtowels, colour co-ordinated to that room.... (kept in airing cupboard)
Guests can use one of the many very thick bath sheets I had when I used to do massage. Not colour coordinated to any bathroom!
We also have a large beach towel each (so 6) and a couple of old spare ones which are used for sickness and any flooding (eg: when washing machine decided to empty itself!)
I love good quality towels - and have frequently been known to hang around towel departments burying my face in piles of them to check softness and thickness! They were a weakness of mine - I have weaned myself off now - honest!!!
:p
ETA: Forgot that each child has a swimming towel (with badges on) and DS1 has a spare plain dark coloured towel for army cadet weekends.
I did say they were a weakness.......I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
On the towels topic I have
-2 bath sheets
-2 bath towels
-2 hand towels
-2 flannels
2 beach/pool towels
So 1 set in 2 different colours to swap back and forth to match my bathroom. I end up using the both the larger towels in one go as I have long hair so like to wrap it up else I could probably lose the bath towels.
Growing up in the States, I lived a 15 min walk from a summer camp where well off families from New York would send their offspring for 7 weeks in the fresh air of Pennsylvania 2 hours away. A neighbor would do their post-camp clearance as these kids would leave a big mess.
As it was 2 weeks post camp, the neighbor could keep anything he found, and they preferred if he would, rather than costing them a skip fee. So he supplied everyone in the surrounding area with towels and t-shirts and we spent another year in some unknown child's nyc school gym shirt that was obviously a worn out discard.
It wasn't until I went to uni and left my neighborhood friends that I realised that...people had matching towels! People didn't have leftover Holiday Inn towels or ones with name labels. For many years, I used the likes of 'Jeffrey Epstein' and I had a flowery 'Gloria Barr' for a long time.
Side note, just looked up this camp cost. 7900-8700 USD for 7 weeks. 5143-5665 GBP, crikey! No wonder they weren't bothered with leaving their towels...0 -

We have lots of uni student accomodation near here and you'd be amazed what they chuck out at the end of term. Esp the foriegn ones; I guess it isn't worth airfreight to take stuff back home. Someone I know got a superb set of speakers; they were better than his own so he kept the wombled ones and sold his own. Win-win.:rotfl:
I only own candystripe because someone dumped it at Mum's workplace, back in the day. Superb towel, they just binned it. One boil-wash later (almost nothing can live past 72 F in a wash) and it came to live with me, is in my bathroom now.
I love really good quality textiles, I love them unreservedly; terrytowelling, linen, pure cottons, cotton velvet etc etc - love 'em.
ETA: got my 12 for the 12th, major emphasis on recycling here, but the fancy jamjars were hoarded in the cupboard and hard to part with.
12th October – 4 glass vinegar bottles into recycling, 2 fancy-schmancy glass jam-jars into recycling, a plastic bank card cut up, pizza flyer, arrived today straight out into recycling, 2 cans and 2 tetrapaks.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Ah, GQ, those fancy jam jars with the gingham tops... well, I could have brought them here to the new place. Instead, 8 went to a colleague with bees and 8 to an artist friend for her jam. And she does make fantastic jam‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
