Congratulations GQ ... at this rate you'll have room to swing the cats by Christmas!
:) Haven't got any, but the parental mogs, Wild Thing and the Queen of Sheba, are used to living among clutter. Mind you WT does spend three seasons of the year out-of-doors, bar feeding sessions, so maybe she's trying to tell them something?:rotfl:

Occasionally one of the cats gets a fright as they accidentally trigger a tsunami of clutter. But one of the funniest things I ever saw a cat do was many moons ago when they had a tile-topped coffee table. A long-gone mog came into the room at a dead run and leaped onto the table. She landed square on a glossy magazine which started to slide and the expression on her face as she surfed the length of the tabletop for a couple of seconds was priceless.:p

    Morning Konverts! :coffee:

It's lovely reading all the mins lists, and useful too, - often they trigger something I need to get rid of. So, thanks to all the intrepid seekers! :D

I should say, that those Mins Seekers, who are struggling some days, don't worry about missing a day/. We came here to Kondo, and MK is not judgmental. So keep going, if you can, but don't fret if you can't. As long as unneeded Stuff leaves, we are winning! And all Konverts are welcome here! ;)

With the state of my house, I shall probably be the last to finish this marathon, anyway! :rotfl:

At present, I'm test-wearing clothes from the 'maybe' heap, and chucking everything that 'doesn't feel right'. So, all good. ;)

GrannyKate: Leave your next mins game until February - fewer days! :rotfl:

iTwin: Just getting Stuff OUT, is definitely the answer! I love the way you are 'scraping the barrel', by hoping for junk mail! :D

I have lots of firmly embedded (normal housekeeping) habits now, which are helping to maintain tidiness and cleaning. I have had them in the past, but the change of daily structure (or lack of, that came with retirement,) allowed them to slip. This can happen with any major life-change but, more often perhaps, it is a slow, unnoticed deterioration, in the face of competing demands on our time. :o

So, clearing the decks is my priority now. Normal day-to-day discarding has always been a habit, and this is helping me. Kondoing made me more mindful, and now I can unconsciously bin/recycle lots of things that, previously, would have required 'DECISIONS'. The apparent 'importance' of Stuff, has now vanished. :j

So, this weekend will see a lot of Stuff earmarked for discarding. Most/all should be OUT on Tuesday, with a local hospital appointment. Then I can enjoy the trip to a distant hospital on Wednesday, (transport supplied). I'm looking forward to that as a 'day out', with 5 hours of traveling!:rotfl:

    Have a joyful weekend!

:D I wonder if some publican was having a clear out of items 1-4. What a random collection. Hope if the bike was stolen, it can be re-united with its owner.

I agree that the lists can be triggers, but also spooky in that I have found that when I have just ear marked somerhing for disposal I see that someone else has just posted the same thing, e.g. coffee cup, I broke one yesterday, old TV, I sent one that never worked to HWRC yesterday.

    So mins game day 9

    1. Coffee cup broken when I was a bit stressed making dinner and knocked it off the worktop. Ceramic tiles are not forgiving. On the plus side, I picked up the half that still had the handle attached, smashed it on the floor and felt much better afterwards!

    2. TV/computer monitor bought from shopping chanel about 10 years ago. I couldn't get it to work at first so put it in the loft to get someone else to try, guess what, it still didn't work yesterday.

    3. Large filter coffee maker, about 6 months old. Too big for small kitchen, so had been stored in a cupboard. Went to reuse centre at HWRC.

    4. Red and green rope light, unused, bought by DH, I don't like them, so also to reuse centre.

    5. CD rack, aluminium, 4ft tall with concrte base, to reuse centre

    6. Rusty splatter guard

    7. Rusty simmer plate for gas hob

    8. Metal pie plate

    9. One more baking tray that I couldn't get clean.

One problem with hiding things fron DH is that I can 'lose' them again.
Remembered when DS and I got back from HWRC that the fire engine that was listed earlier has missed two trips to the tip. Must keep the list up to date in future.

:) I was just reading that. Trust the DM to be about 10 months behind the rest of us..........:rotfl:

ETA; It's on the DM website, didn't see it there this morning, so think it's just arrived.

Righty, after much scouring around in me drawers (oo-err missus) here is today's report:

10th October - counterpart driving license (exp) shredded, 2 bank cards, cut up, dreg of ointment tube binned, pritt stik thingy (unused) into chazzer bag, 2 photo CDs binned, scratch remover pen, clingfilm finished and packaging recycled.

My kitchen drawer under the draining board, the one where the clingfilm, greaseproof paper, tin foil and various other misc items has been thoroughly kondo'd. Not much in there which was superfluous, but it was such a muddle as I keep diving in and out for random stuff, which gets disordered and, as the drawer is pretty shallow, causes it to get jammed.

Umm, have had a LBM moment, will be back in 10.........

Strange thing QG none of those items were found anywhere near each other :rotfl:The deep fat fyer (thingy) was found about 1.5 miles away from the fan,the pickled egg jar The optics were quite near the bike:rotfl:The fishpond was quite near the pickled egg jar :D But thats about all that was quite close to each other.

No news on the bike. I think it is stolen as its been painted Green over the Red it was and it has a brand new seat on it and brand new tyres.Very odd the police are not even interested TBH. Think they were happy when I said I will get it and bring it home.

Been in the Hot tub at the gym for about 2hours as I did feel really dirty from the litter pick :rotfl:Thats my excuse anyway ;)Did shower first ;)

:o OK, haven't taken leave of my senses, just had a thought to swop the contents of my cutlery drawer with the everything-else drawer.

I've lived here over 10 years and have always used the wider of the two accessible kitchen drawers for my cutlery, which is the one under the worktop. Just ran a tape measure over it and the other one, depth and height inside the drawer are identical, but the one under the draining board is 4 inches narrower.

But! There is empty space inside the cutlery drawer (my utensils live in a pot by the stove, so it literally holds a couple of small cutlery trays with some eating irons, can opener, tablespoon and bottle opener), whereas the other drawer is always rammed. And the empty space in the cutlery drawer is.........wait for it........... almost exactly 4 inches.

So I pulled a switcheroonie just now. Why the heck have I never thought of this before?! It's going to make putting cutlery away when wiping up a cinch, and the other drawer will be sooo much easier to use with an extra 4 inches of width to play with. Happy-happy....:D

Heh, normal people are thinking about hitting the town and I'm as happy as larry re-arranging me drawers.:rotfl:
