Ha! I knew the plastic bag discussion would come round again. For you lot in England who are, if I might say, a little late to the party. ........do not fear, you will soon change over to large shoppers that will neatly fold if you can be bothered and have nothing better to do, or will slot inside each other easily which is the method I prefer.
When at supermarket I use the "self zap" hand held barcode reader as I hate shopping and can be in and out in double quick time with ģmy items packed how I like and I dont need to enter into small talk with the checkout person. ........I know that is very anti social:o I try to avoid using extra bags for fruit and veg, except multiples of things like apples, and I too often have a lable stuck to a mango or bunch of bananas. ..........seriously why do bananas need a bag????? I once instructed checkout operator NOT to put things in bags to which the response was " oh you are one of these people who likes to save plastic bags "I tried to explain that I just didn't want to use them not save them...........not sure they got it:o

I am a bit the same over nappy sacks.........2 children, and can honestly say never used one..........dont get me started on those nappy sausage making machines:rotfl::eek:

On the kondo front OH has given me permission to take 2 computer items to recycle centre - bit if a tecchie and built our PC himself.......but when something needs replacing or updating he tends to keep the old bit JIC as its still useful IHO! Anyway its astart and he has said once home from his "trip of a lifetime" he will sort it all out..........hurrah

My girls like the zap things. I often forget to scan them due to years of just putting in trolley! We have now a routine. Trolley has a basket in. They have the zapper and shop and scan one too. I put things in basket they zap and put in bags. And the beauty of this? They are so busy zapping etc they don't have time to discover extra bits not on the shopping list that they want so my shpopping is cheaper!! What joy!

Really not done much KD have lost my mojo. I think it boils down to I have a zero hours contract and have very few hours at the mo and really struggling. I am so worried about paying bills so a bit stressed. Trying to think positive.

:o I have sinned, I hope Marie will forgive me; I took some stuff (weeds) to the tip and came back with an ali baba laundry basket.

I did ask if I could take it and it is willow and I will use it. Can I be excused?

  • Of course you can, if it's for storing things. :rotfl:

:) Thank you for your absolution!

The basket will hold the yarn stash that I am knitting my way through. It is presently taking up all my (one and only) laundry basket plus a clear bag, volume same as a rubbish sack, which is parked on top.

This means I can't use my laundry basket for emptying the washing machine and it also looks naff-naff-naff.

Gawd, but I looove willow baskets sooo much...........:rotfl:

    Ouch! :rotfl:

Sigline quotes can always be changed but big freebie wicker baskets don't come around very often. 'Sides, if I get tired of it, it'll be down the chazzer and that's a lot better than landfilling it. See, I can justify anything.......:p

I love the zapper. My local doesn't have them but every time I have access to a car, I will always go to the zappymart in the next town. :rotfl:

The only time I get carriers (apart from DH's hoard) is if I unexpectedly need to pop in to the supermarket on the way home from somewhere. Have put one of my folding bags in the handbag now though. The regular shop at the weekend is always with reusable bags, I was using them long before they were the thing. I also started using a trolley in my 20s, so I've never been quite normal. :o

:D Bless you! Didja see my special sig edit? Some women have a weakness for shoes, mine is for red willow basketry and stainless steel cookware. Strange, but true, and I also have a bit of a thing about unbleached calico and pillow ticking. And sunflowers.

Couple of days ago I bought a book for 20p from the cheap box at the chazzer, where slightly tatty paperbacks are turned out for pence. Very productive place to ferret in and I have been muchly pleased with the books from there. This latest one was going to be a one-read deal as the pages were detaching.

I finished it, marvelled over it's age (65!) and released it into the recycling bin, along with the packaging from the YS chicken jalfrezi I had for me supper, with hg veg. I'm not keeping a recycling receptacle indoors now, the communal bins are only a few meters away outside, and I just take stuff out as I go about my business.

  • I need you lovely lot to help.

I have a bit of a dilemma. Like everyone I am trying to reduce the amount of stuff in the house. I have done books and was very pleased with the reduction as they all fit on the shelves beautifully.

I also have a Kindle- well should say had as dog killed the screen- but I can read my books on iPad until it gets replaced for my birthday (hopefully).

My dilemma is whether to release my collection of Terry Pratchett books and get them via kindle instead. I read his last book last night and was thinking about trying to make space but these books are not just books to me. They feel somewhat sentimental as they have brought so much joy. I can't decide if it is just the stories or the whole book thing. I love the feel and smell of new books and that wonderful feeling of anticipation when I get a new book to digest. I do re read books all the time if the story is a good one. I know I can get them from the library or on the kindle but...

    Please help!
