PollyWollyDoodle wrote: »A question - I changed phone and broadband supplier recently. Is the 'old' BT modem likely to be of use to anyone else or should I just bin it? I don't really understand these things, if I thought it could be used then I'd Freecycle it. or should I hang on to it in case I move back to BT?
Don't keep it just for switching back, as they'll put you on a new plan and resupply the router anyway. It may be useful for someone that needs to replace theirs and isn't interested in getting recontracted, but I'd say chances are slim. I'd recycle it.BT upgraded my router last year and I wondered what to do with the old one as the engineer didn't take it with him. I checked with BT and, apparently, you are supposed to return it - they sent me a postage paid return bag to send it back in
We recently upgraded our router and we had the option to either send it back OR take it to electrical recycling. They didn't seem to mind which one, as long as it was correctly disposed of. I went for the latter since I had other bits to take anyway.0 -
Feeling a bit blah about everything lately, haven't really done much organising
Hoping to do the airing cupboard at the weekend. It's an absolute state as it's the only cupboard/storage space we have in the hallway so all sorts tends to get shoved in it. Feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything I want to get done!

Electrical recycling for routers I would think.
Forgot to account for the second day malaise after visiting friends on wed - good for not very much today. Have managed to condense some of my wool supplies and got rid of a cardboard boxwell, emptied it and not managed to break it down yet. Bk to bed for a rest in the warmth of an electric blanket.
Getting rid of the box means the living room bin can hide under a side table when not needed. I am ridiculously happy about that. Simple minds and all that:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Am I right in thinking the charge won't apply to paper bags? Primark already use paper and I suspect a lot of other clothes shops will as well. If you think you might buy something that doesn't fit in a foldable bag, like a coat, (or a saucepan, or whatever) it would be a real pain to lug a big empty bag around in your handbag just in case.
Aylesford paper mills must be rubbing their hands at the prospect
I can only comment about scotland but it applies to all bags. Primark, McDonald's, the chinese takeaway etc. Paper and plastic are all treated the same. My local library can give them away apparently because they are providing a service, not selling a product.
you will all be surprised how quicly you get used to it. I keep a fold up nylon bag in most handbags. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Jo, I've been thinking about you today.
Hope your appointment went as well as it possibly could.
Take care.

Echoing the above ((((jo4)))) hope all is well with you.
Today, I followed a linkie off ZWH blog to this site
http://myplasticfreelife.com/
There's a lot there and some of it might be of interest to others on this thread. I'm applying some thoughts about containing small things inside bigger re-usable bags and am going to run up some small cloth drawstring bags from the fabric stash, to corrall random things like veggies etc, and other things, for which I am presently using plastic bags.
I'll be making them from things I already have, scrap materials and salvaged ribbons and am quite looking forward to having a play around with the cloth etc.
Never mind thinking outside the box, let's be bold and think beyond the placcy bag!Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thanks everyone for your help re the Pratchett books. They stay. If they ever become less than joyous they can find a new home.
It probably wouldn't be so bad if I could persuade OH to get rid of his car magazines. They are currently living in the wardrobe over cupboard. Not sure he even knows but God forbid if I put them in the recycling. Maybe if I put a few each week in the recycling he won't notice.De cluttering Konvert.Getting there

Yep thats my experience too. Here all bags 5p regardless of size/type of retail outlet. There is some joy I have to say in turning down a bag and producing your own:D Not sure how N*xt getaway with not charging for bags at their huge end of season sales. ..........maybe they meet the bill themselves?????Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
