uk-american, may I ask how you use the blue lamp. Is it in a table lamp or overhead or? DH and I both seem to suffer from SAD to an extent so it might help.
There are various ones on the market but most are small boxes that emit light in one direction. I bought a compact Philips one based on the reviews and I needed something that would travel well for work. But there are others that are better price but less portable. I bought mine from amazon, if you search for 'sad blue light' it will bring you some options.
You basically have it on a desk or table at arm's length distance, such as when you're on the computer or reading a book next to it. You don't want to be looking directly at it, but it should be facing you.
It depends on the box (so how intense the light is) so the manufacturers will recommend an amount of time to use each day. As well it depends on your own schedule and whether you are a morning person/night owl. So if you need to be up at 6 AM you don't want to be using it at 4 PM, for example.
During the darkest days of winter I use mine twice per day, 15 min per time, at 10 AM and 1 PM. On 'light' November days, I'll use it just once, at mid-day. I have an aunt who is in bed by 9 PM, she uses hers first thing in the morning as she has her coffee as she works early shifts.
I know they might not work for everyone and may be new-age nonsense, but I definitely notice a difference with mine. The reviews are helpful on amazon if you're considering it.0 -
Morning all
Hope everyone is well
Re Matalan, it has been mentioned on the Christmas thread that the stock will be arriving over the weekend and put out in the shops sometime next week. Someone asked in their local store. HTH
Tomorrow I will be busy all day so going to try and do what I can today, better make a start I suppose.
Have a joyful day allSPC~12 ot 124

VJsmum, that seems an awful lot of effort for what looks like a plate of jelly babies.
What are the plans for them now you've released them to their full potential?
Thank you for sharing by the way, I don't think I'd have believed it if you hadn't posted photographic proofSPC~12 ot 124

Innit tho? They will be discarded (obvs) the joy was in the anticipation and the doing, rather than the finished thing - which we would have discovered if we'd done it at the time rather than wait 5 or more years. They were supposed to take 45 seconds - it was over an hour to get them to that stage. That is a tea plate, btw, so it's really tiny.
So let's see what nonsense today brings - I have two things already, but they are rather boring.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I also upcycled a sideboard in the last few days - wanna see?

They do dinosaurs as well as trains, I saw it on t'interwebs so it must be true. Thanks for the first belly-laugh of the day.
Convo with the parents yestereve revealed that they'd taken the copper coin stash (£5, bagged, normally to be paid into their bank) to the cancer charity shop. I was pleased (Mum is a cancer survivor) but what really go me was the sentence your Dad saw they were collecting coppers when he took some Stuff in.
Process that; my parents have decluttered and donated some Stuff (I don't even know which Stuff) to their chazzer, where I set Dad up as a gift-aider in August, without my pestering/ organising it!
:j Ye gods and little fishes, I can't believe it, kondo-mania had gone viral. I must remind them this is hazardous waste amnesty week in their county (I wrote it on their kitchen calendar, but you can't be too bossy, these amnesties don't come around that often).:rotfl:
Tomorrow will be a bit strange as I am committed to spending the whole day at home having my CH system pulled about. Will take all day, the water will be off for much of it. As I am tied to the homestead, I am determined not to fritter the time and have a mental list of to-do's which I hope to work through, which may even involve some kondo-ing.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

VJsmum can I just say now I am way more impressed with the upcyclng of the cupboard than the capsules. The finished result is beautiful and most definately a joyful keeper in my opinionSPC~12 ot 124

Ooh GQ, it's true about this Kondo virus then? That's great news, you must be jumping for joy.
VJsmum, the train makes (slightly) more sense when you see it all together. I expect if I were five years old that would have had me entranced although at that age my attention span probably wouldn't have withstood the time taken. The sideboard on the other hand, I could gaze at that for hours! Inevitable question - what paint did you use? (I'm really hoping you don't say A---- S---- - I tried it and couldn't get on with it at all.)Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0
