Send them back
Tell her you haven't needed them, you don't intend to have any more children, so she can have them back
I should love to do that - but I don't think OH would let me. She also sent a box of Royal Copenhagen miniature plates. i think the chazzer can have them, though they are very pretty.
Min's Game Day 15
1. Another phrasebook (Portugese)
2. Lamp shade
3 Lamp (not associated with #2 above)
4. White plastic jug that came with a thing my auntie gave me 30 years ago and which i haven't had for at least 28 and the jug of which has never been used in all that time
5 Diet book
6. DVD - film
7. Bench cover for a bench we no longer have
8. DVD - more course notes
9. Purple vase that held the plastic daffs DD gave me for mothers day years ago - the daffs are still planted in the garden :rotfl:
10. a cheap camping lamp that has broken
11. A chipped miniature candle holder pot thing
12. Some more foreign coins
13. A cat keyring
14. A large cuddly dog
15. [STRIKE]A fondue set[/STRIKE] :rotfl: A small cuddly dog
Oh, the Rose bowl isn't there - that can join tomorrow's list. What is the point of a rose bowl??? Why can't roses just go in a vase?
Halfway through the month = 120 things minimum have gone. In reality it is far, far more.
I can't get over what absolute carp we have in this house.....
Oh, and OH has said that he will sort through a bag of cameras and lenses he has. Expensive things but which have sat in said bag for nearly 20 years and, in this digital age, he would never use again... Can you even buy film?? It is a major breakthrough that he is even considering letting them go.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all
Brilliant kondoing everyone
Hope all are well
Kondoed a body warmer this morning it was too small for Ds2 and one of DHs work friends commented his lad needed something to walk to school in now mornings are cooler so two happy people. Stack of DVDs also went to work to be taken by colleagues there.
Great convo with mil over the last few days her birthdays coming up I'd already got her spring bulbs to plant garden up and will get winter pansies and heathers for a barrow she wants planting. DH asked if she 'wanted' anything.
Mil - I need some nice perfume.
Me - but you have four bottles we've got you for Christmas birthdays and mothers days on the last four occasions that you've asked and look three are unopened and ones only had a couple of squirts out of it.
Mil - ok I want new duvets I hate my bedroom it looks dreary.
Me - but we bought you two really pretty duvet covers last year the reason your bedroom looks dated is you always put dark coloured nylon bedspreads over the top of the duvets. You really don't need to use those people don't anymore that's why duvet covers have patterns on.
Mil - nighties I need nighties.
Me - last Christmas I got you 3 sets of nice brushed cotton PJs and when you stayed in hospital last summer you wanted new nighties so I bought you 3 nice new cotton nighties. Look they are all here in this drawer
Mil - How about getting me a nice cardi I could choose the wool and you could knit me one over the weekend, you aren't really that busy at the moment.
Me- but mum you have 12 brand new still in their packets cardis that you've brought off da art over the last few years and never used as you are saving them for best. Start using those if you want a new cardi.
Mil - I'll have to have a think, there must be something I want.
Me - can I just get you a surprise? Something I think you'll like
Mil - I'd sooner tell you want I want, if you just go out and buy something for the sake of it I might not want it so it won't be any use.
This convo has gone on over the last week, DH usually comes home with a new suggestion mil has for what she needs. The most outlandish is thT once I've finished clearing all the weeds and junk from the top of her garden I can get the slabs relaid so they are nice and clean and not wobbly then we could build her a seat or summer house behind the garage as its a lovely little sun trap. She can barely walk to the garage to get her garden chair out so sits just outside the back Door if she does venture into the garden. I could build the Midlands version of the hanging gardens of Babylon at the bottom of her garage and she wouldn't use it or even see it.
Bangs head against wall, adjusts herself smiles and gets on with the day.SPC~12 ot 124

Love your lists VJsmum :rotfl:
Seriously though, the Royal Copenhagen and the cameras have value. Why not send them to auction? You could send the christening gowns too! Might make your OH a bit more willing to let things go?0 -

iTwin Glad you are feeling better
Sorry for those of you that are feeling a bit low (not sure if its the process of MK ing) Or illness. But I had a lot of low days when I was kondoing so hopefully it will get better soon.
Some days I spent the day in tears. Some days I was as high as a kite so goodness knows what goes on in this process.
VJsmum I also love your lists keep posting them as they make me laugh :rotfl:at the totally random items.

Oh mavvy your dad is definately the opposite of my mil I'm sure she just wants something to unwrap, (and put in the cupboard) it sounds like your dad NEEDS a new duvet. I hope you can persuade him to get one its supposed to be a really cold winter this year!!SPC~12 ot 124

Yes he is Mrs mp as he never even wants me to get him anything.
So silly of your MIL I wonder how you can get her to use the things she has already got. Cant you get some of the new cardis out of her wardrobe and re-wrap them ? Would she know ? As that would mean you and DH save some money, she has something to unwrap and there is no more unused things going in her house :rotfl:
I am going to get a new Duvet for Dad on Saturday. He is going away so will put it on his bed and get the old ones round to the RSPCA chazzer shopWill also get some new pillows as well as his are a bit flat and again old

Pillows, there a thing, I bought mil new pillows last year for her birthday as she said hers were lumpy and she wasn't sleeping well. She put them in the wardrobe and said they'd come in handy when the ones she had wore out. I after a couple of months I just put them on when I changed her bed and threw the old ones out. Couple of weeks later she asked where the pillows had gone out of her wardrobe, so I told her she was sleeping on them. next time I changed her bed I realised she had old ones again so checked the spare bed and the new ones were on that. Now I notice there is an old and new one on each bed. takes all sorts to make a world.SPC~12 ot 124

Morning Konverts! :coffee:
Clutterfree, Jo4, and uk_american: I hope you all start to perk up soon.
I think the cooler weather and darker nights have some effect, as well as unexpected RL events. Try not to worry. I have found that, at these times, I have to make a definite effort to hang on to my new happiness... and it does work!
VJsmum: Like my iTwin, mav, I love your Mins lists! Some items are really funny, and others make me blush, when I remember that I have some... yet to be un-earthed!
Thanks for the diet book reminder! I have a collection, which are like the already donated de-clutter books. The WW have gone, but there are others. I shall get them in the CS bag - low-carb is now a joyful habit (except when out with new friends!) :j
I bet the plastic daffs are loving their sojourn in the garden - maybe they will be joyful enough to root? :rotfl:
The fondue set has to stay - great for chocolate/butterscotch dip on a girlie night in!
I think rose bowls were intended for short stemmed open blooms, but they drop very quickly, which is sad (and more mess!)
My DD2 is a photography buff and used to buy films for one of her cameras... very expensive these days! I think only a handful of professionals use it these days.
Well done with the Mins! Halfway tthrough the month!
mrs-moneypenny: What about a box of chocs, for MIL to unwrap, or a bouquet, and a day out somewhere that she likes/liked, or would enjoy?
iTwin: I'm fine now, thanks, just felt physically 'off' for a few days.
A new duvet for your Dad will be lovely. Would he like a feather and down? I asked for one for my birthday last year (15 tog, with no central heating!) Love it! prior to that I used 2 old man-mades which weren't anything like so snuggly! :rotfl:
Today, with a bit of cleared space, I am shifting upstairs' Stuff into the rooms where it belongs, to make categories easier. No doubt, there will be some instant carp to go in the CS bags/bin, too. :j
I am now going to fuel-up on a bacon sandwich - kitchen sink 'shined' last night - bl00dy amazing, for me! :dance:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

My beds are like that! Could be an age/arthritis thing? I find 2 plump pillows give me a 'pain in the neck' :rotfl: but 2 old ones are too flat!
I've spent most of my life compromising and 'fitting in' with others - I reckon that I have earned the right to be an awkward cuss now! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Just caught up with the thread after a week in glorious Wales, it was lovely, but all this gallivanting means that housework and Kondoing is not happening too much.
Sorry that some have been feeling less than chipper, I find the change of seasons tricky at the best of times, and this year, once again in my part of the world we have not had enough sunlight:(
Loving all the lists of achievements everyone, on reading your post VJsmum, it made me giggle and think of a generation game scenario with all the items revolving on the moving belt thingy:D:D
I have gone off track this morning, but had a burst of energy and grabbed a huge pile of papers and receipts from 2011/12/13:o, great result as all but about half a dozen items went straight into the shredder:D I have been struggling with lack of energy and ill health all year, but perhaps I am emerging from the doldrums as I feel that I need all this clutter to be gone before the Winter really sets in.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
