GQ - I'm also rethinking bathroom bins. Why on earth did I think that chrome pedal bins were a good idea? They just show the dust (of which I have a LOT at the moment thanks to the huge progress my lovely builders are making)!
I've been thinking the same about my white and chrome bin for ages. I found some hygienic looking plastic ones on line but sadly they cost a fortune. I'm just going to have to keep dusting for nowOSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

Morning all
Started the mammoth task of swapping the contents of five 30+ year old cracked and dated plastic photo boxes to my nice wooden ones. Took ages as me and DH kept commenting on how cute the kids were when they were little (sometimes followed by a which ones this? As I've not written dates on most of them) some are being taken out for the shredder as they are blurry or backs of heads. Will box as best I can so I can Kondo the plastic boxes but need to visit them so I can put them in a more chronological order. That is one of the draw backs of going to the same place every year for holidays, living in the same house and the children wearing hand me downs LOL.
Hoping to get this done before work as I'm at hospital later with mil, to try and get to the bottom of her ankle/walk I problem.
Have a joyful day all.SPC~12 ot 124

Hey, iQueen, I'm with the P'net too! Excellent cheaper & nicer satelitte of BT and I love those Yorkshire accents whenever I have to ring them (once a year, if that). I was ex-directory with BT, never gave any thought to being in the actual book now, as I haven't consulted a phone book for about 20 years. Likewise Yillow Piges - what's in there that I need to know?
I do very little shopping and am a council tenant, so repair needs are reported to them and they get them fixed, so I'm not going to be looking at the YP for tradesmen. If I want furnishings, I shop the chazzers. If I want appliances, I go see Mr J Lewis. My life is very simple and doesn't require I give up any of my severely-limited indoor space to whopping great directories - that's what the t'internet is for.
VJsMum, zlotys are Polish and they're still using them. You actually find Polish small change on the streets here, there's one coin I've picked up before thinking it was a 5p piece. I chuck the Polish small change at a B de C here who does coins as well as currency, just so it can go back home one day and not be trash on our streets. Can't abide waste.
Today's cunning plan will involve decluttering a couple of library books back where they came from after work. I love the Central Library, they have thousands of the beggars and plenty of shelving, none of which I'm responsible for maintaining.:T
Oooh, wish I could stay home and kondo, I'm sure if I look hard enough there will be some thing, somewhere, which isn't earning its keep. Onwards and upwards, my lovelies.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

TBH I don't find the chrome pedal bin a problem even with builders making more dust than you would think possible. (the horror!:eek::eek:) I do the Flylady swish and swipe every morning and just do the bin as I do the basin. (I don't actually use it myself so could happily do without it but DH prefers it to walking two steps into the bedroom)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I have definitely been slacking - too much other stuff - but the Kondoed areas are making the unfinished areas (which I've happily lived with for years) really irritating now. I'm going to take action today- that chrome bathroom bin which I never use can go! And I realised reading above that I haven't 'done' the shelf holding phone books. I never use them - why on earth do I dutifully file them away every year? As GQ says, that's what the Internet is for.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Work doesn't seem to be giving me the time to keep on top of normal dust at the moment, let alone the builders' dust :cool:PollyWollyDoodle wrote: »I have definitely been slacking - too much other stuff - but the Kondoed areas are making the unfinished areas (which I've happily lived with for years) really irritating now. They're for when the internet is down0 -
It's so funny when the internet is down. Working surrounded by youngin's (not that I'm that old myself, but I feel it here) they literally can't function without the internet for even a minute. It very quickly turns into the last day of term, with them playing games and throwing balls around the office. :wall:0

I always kondo phone books and try to kondo the Screwfix catalogue but DH just picks up another one - and then looks it up online when he actually wants anything LOL
Mind you, I have occasionally been known to pick up the Lakeland catalogue though I have found for the last few years that there is nothing I actually want or need. I have finally got to the stage of having a fully equipped kitchen that allows me to do whatever cooking I want. And in fact, the amount of stuff I really need (as opposed to gimmicky gadgets) is surprisingly small. I could get rid of a bit more - like 2 large cake tins which are used once in a blue moon and which I could hire from the local cake shop but I do have the room to keep them (We have cellars! We can never move). And on the rare occasions I do use them they do give me joy because they are so solid and cakes turn out well.
One of the main things that gives me joy is my Braun food processor. Unlike most of them, this has a sealed base which means you can use it as a liquidiser as well as for mixing and slicing. I had my old one for 25 years and the bowl broke recently when I dropped it. I could possibly have found a spare for about £50  but I had my suspicions about the motor because there always seemed to be a lot of black dust on the base.
So it gave me enormous joy when I found a replacement on Amazon imported from Germany(you can't get them here anymore). And because the pound is quite strong atm I got it for MUCH less than I thought I would have to pay. Most joyous indeed!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Morning konverts
Corner cleaning todayHavent done much cleaning (here) lately as I can always find something much much more joyful to do
Cant seem to get myself moving today so need to get started soon :rotfl:
Just kondoed a top in the wardrobe it just suddenly came into my head and I was compelled to drag it off the hanger and drop it in to the chazzer bagDoes anyone else get that feeling or is it just me. The good thing is that when you know something needs to go.You can lay your hands on it in a second :rotfl:Not like before KM where you would give up searching for something and just leave it.
After the major clean yesterday at Dads I did his bedroom dragged everything out scubbed everything and put it back. All the nic nacs (carp) I asked him to take it in the kitchen and when he got time to wash everything and decide what he wanted back in the bedroom. So the bedroom was clear of any junk and looked lovely.
He has just rung me and he has just woken up :rotfl:12 hours sleep which he never getsand feels brilliant this morning. So I think he will let a lot of this stuff go now.He has felt the benefit of the first bit of MK

Ooh, MaryB that has got me quite excited! My Braun food processor is 29 years old, the motor is still going strong but the plastic lid has cracked (it was dropped on my tiled floor, otherwise I think it would still be as good as new) and you can't get spares for it. Every time I haul it out of the cupboard I think it must be the last time I'll use it ... I wonder if I can get a replacement? I'm off to Amazon.
The Lakeland catalogue is reading for pleasure. I love their products but rarely buy stuff these days because I don't need anything, but it's a happy day when it comes through the letter-box as I enjoy reading it over a cuppa - and then discarding. And I love to marvel over the latest gadgets, and reflect that I neither need nor want them!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone.
