Mav - I painted the floors upstairs (they were plain floorboards, so diluted paint as a wash, using mini-foam rollers), and then put a couple of coats of floor varnish over them. It made the rooms lovely and light, without the feeling of being in a box, and I still had the benefit of the wood grain and wooden floors.

I'm looking forward to doing the same again when I eventually get to the point of doing floors here!

GQ - I'm also rethinking bathroom bins. Why on earth did I think that chrome pedal bins were a good idea? They just show the dust (of which I have a LOT at the moment thanks to the huge progress my lovely builders are making)!

I'm really feeling a combination of MK and NBI (not buying it). I ended up at some charity shops, tried on a shirt that was perfectly in my colours, would go with clothes in my wardrobe and be great for work. Yet when I stood there I could see it was a bit tight on the bust and baggy in the back. Not joyful so I left it, along with the other things I tried on.

I was actually feeling restless browsing the random komono stock, thinking "but do I need anything new? I have a stash of wool to craft with and other crafts to do. I have an e reader so should download books rather than buying hard copies. I still want to clear the house, reducing my stuff, and I am saving to decorate, so why keep browsing, do I really want to bring anything home?".

I went home without even looking in the last charity shop!

That is a real change for me; feeling like I don't need to keep bringing things in,and that I can resist purchasing. I'm not perfect as I did order some new beauty products online, having read the latest Sali Hughes tips, but I only ordered a trial quantity, and actually plan to use it when it comes, as it sounded like my skin would benefit.

I felt similar last week when browsing the CS'. There were plenty of things I liked, but nothing that I felt I really "needed". I've decided to be much more picky about my buying, especially from CS' as I often buy things that are "ok" because they're cheap. I'm not going to buy anything unless I love it. After leaving the CS' I couldn't even remember the things I was looking at that I liked, so that showed me that I really didn't like that them much!

I feel so tired today, gym session and late night have taken it out of me I think!

Not sure much organising will get done today, haven't even done the daily cleaning/tidying yet!

Hi,furry beast have you tried ringing a charity shop to pick up items? I don't drive and my friend used to volunteer at Scope she said if you ring they will come for them.
I haven't done it for a while as I now get a constant stream of charity bags through the door! I used to wait till I had a couple of bags then ring and they always came.
Yesterday was sunny, nipped in aldi as they had advertised flannelette duvet covers and sheets, which I needed for dgs new bed. Dh spotted hedge trimmer which is going to be a godsend, put him to work immediately on the pyracantha! The green bin is now full :j
A few showers today but nothing too heavy,no doubt it will wait till I am off to school to watch dgson do rugby training!
Done usual Monday house clean and changed beds, will try to wash them tomorrow, as I have washed clothes this morn as need my uniform for work weds.
Will go now to iron new bedding that got washed yesterday. ;)

Sorted through our boxes of games. Accepted we don't have games evenings as often as we used to so a pile of boxed games, chess sets etc all ready to go to CS later. DH suspects there is another box of games in the loft but I think I can make clear decisions on the ones we've found today and deal with the other mythical box if and when we find it. Some really immaculate games and nice chess pieces so I can imagine they will bring lots of joy to their new owners. Far more joy than they bring to our loft!

I have sorted through a box of old cards - some i have had for 40 years, carting them around from house to house. i have kept about 6 that do spark joy (though a little sadness tinged), they have gone in my memory box.

One jettisoned one was from "Andrew" wishing me a happy 21st birthday - I have no idea who that was.....

I am amazed at how easy it was to put the rather large pile of cards into the recycling.

I also sorted OH's shoes that he stores in the office, putting them on a shoe rack i assembled this morning. i discovered he has two random left shoes. just messaged him asking him why and was it cos he had two left feet :rotfl: he messaged back "Spares, just in case"

I enquired whether it was just in case his right leg drops off :rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Sorting out ornaments is quite hard actually, psychologically/emotionally. I remember the holidays where purchased some, so that was nice but I also felt sad that I and other people wasted so much money on expensive items that I thought I had to collect :(

I fear if I told some relatives what I'm donating they'd say they'd take some of the ornaments so I feel I should help them and me by releasing them quietly.

Having a more productive day than I thought :) house hoovered, clean washing put away, another load hanging out to dry and another load gone in the washing machine, washing up done. And I organised our bedside drawers so they make more sense and got rid of some old bikinis and pyjamas :)

I love the floors like that greenbee. But mine were almost a stained Black colour :eek:Think of what the inside of a cave would look like it was that dark :rotfl:So I just had to cover it right up 3 coats of a good floor paint and it looked lovely and still does ;)

Good luck with yours when you get there :D

My stainless steel bathroom bin was also kondoed as I was sick of the dust on it :) Now dont have a bin in the bathroom its no problem.

It has now stopped raining and is Sunny so going to try and get the dog out before it starts again
