  • I've really really enjoyed catching up on this wonderful thread today 😀

We spent the morning catching up on admin type things then made a start on the shed. Some of the carp arrived with us, but we have collected most of it over the last 5 years. I hesitated throwing out the small BBQ that I had used once about 4 years ago! But when we popped into the DIY store later we saw the very same BBQs for sale for £2.99!!!! Like MK says, all these things are easily replaceable. I almost hesitated on throwing 2 buckets, but then saw they cost 99p to replace if we ever want to! And now, after 2 trips to the dump, the shed is almost done and all major carp has left the whole premises. Tarah-Tarah !!🎉🎉🎉🎉!!

It feels like we have stepped up to the next level. Kondoing is far from finished, but it's now no longer about major heaving of carp about, I feel I'm at the refining stage. Time to tackle the clutter drawers, cabinets, sewing stuff etc. etc. I feel ready to ditch a lot of the frou-frou of life and comfortable that I will survive without it and not feel sad about it 😄😄😄😄

I bought a wooden wall cabinet a few weeks ago with a plan to chalkpaint it. However when I went to pick it up it wasn't what I thought and I wasn't brave enough to say so, silly me. So it's sat in the shed ever since. I could chalkpaint it, but don't feel it would bring me joy so think it will be going back on fleabay, and I hope I can make some of the £25 back (yes £25! what am I doing?!).

I think Greenbee mentioned a wooden floor. I have wanted to try painting a wooden floor for ages. I gathered loads of photos once of lovely painted wooden floors - may cover up any damage ? Just a thought 😄. Perhaps a way to kondoing some paint?

Right I'm off to dream about kondoing. Sweet dreams all :A

I'm really feeling a combination of MK and NBI (not buying it). I ended up at some charity shops, tried on a shirt that was perfectly in my colours, would go with clothes in my wardrobe and be great for work. Yet when I stood there I could see it was a bit tight on the bust and baggy in the back. Not joyful so I left it, along with the other things I tried on.

I was actually feeling restless browsing the random komono stock, thinking "but do I need anything new? I have a stash of wool to craft with and other crafts to do. I have an e reader so should download books rather than buying hard copies. I still want to clear the house, reducing my stuff, and I am saving to decorate, so why keep browsing, do I really want to bring anything home?".

I went home without even looking in the last charity shop!

That is a real change for me; feeling like I don't need to keep bringing things in,and that I can resist purchasing. I'm not perfect as I did order some new beauty products online, having read the latest Sali Hughes tips, but I only ordered a trial quantity, and actually plan to use it when it comes, as it sounded like my skin would benefit.

I know what you mean Katsu and I love the phrase NBI. :):). I'm so excited about my NBI skills. In fact it's almost natural now, and I get the same buzz NBI that I used to get when buying something.

Apologies to all for posting three times :D. I just get so excited reading this thread, it's like we're all on the same exciting MK journey. Im off to work shortly so don't worry posting will cease for a while. Hope the rain stops soon

you're right ... It does use up paint! But you need to make sure it works with the paint on the floor! I've painted floors in previous houses, and have found it works best for me when they are a colour wash of the wall colour so you can see the grain of the wood and it's not solid colour. You also need to fill any gaps and repair broken boards before you start.

:) Morning all, lovely to hear about your progress.

Yesterday, I wally-trollied a couple of heavy donation bags down to the chazzer. One was the second-to-last of the 13 ragbags left here in July as a result of the great textile cull at the parental home. One more to go. The other bag included the natty little bathroom bin which I wasn't using. I am so enjoying looking at the empty space where it used to sit.:rotfl:

I also had a browserama around that chazzer and the other three which open on a Sunday nearby. Came back with a 50p book, of which I have read half already. Did look at some witty slogan-bearing mugs but remembered that the wittiest and most cute things are the things which I tire of most easily, so decided as didn't need them, to leave them for someone else. Didn't feel the urge to buy any of the clothes and came away happily.

Once I've finished the book, it can be re-donated. Apart from food, I've spent £1 this month (50p preserving jar and the paperback) and only one of them will be staying on the premises.

Going to be taking the rubbish out on the way to work; two weeks = half a carrierbagful. Pretty pleased with that.

  • Morning all.
Huge well done to everyone for their kondoing achievements some great stuff done.
Dd2 took 3 big bags of baby clothes away with her and the high hair we got DGS as an early Christmas pressie (better to get something early thats needed than just house filler on the day)
I did buy some rather joyful wooden boxes at the carboot on Sunday so I can transfer the photos over to them and bin the horrible plastic cracked boxes they are currently in.
Also while sorting out the Christmas stash I decided that the 3 photo display cubes that have been in the hit stash for over 3 years are not going to be given to anyone so can go in the next Cs donations bag.
Finished a paperback so that's already in the bag, and finally finished knitting and sewed up the cards I've been knitting myself for over a year! Which means that can go in my wardrobe and off the wool pile and the rather unjoyful brown waterfall cardi I wasn't keen on can be washed and put in the Cs bag as well. I did buy two really joyful dresses at the boot which I love so a. Going to revisit my wardrobe and see if there is anything less joyful that can go to the Cs so they can take their hangers in the wardrobe.

Need to shoo ds2 off to school as he's lagging.

Morning konverts :D Pouring with rain here and forcast all day (sigh)

All my floors are painted White( apart from the bedrooms) :o Yes you are right it does use every bit of paint you have and more :rotfl: But mine are a solid White (as the floor was too dark ) to give it a washed look like greenbee said.

I love the floor but it does look better after a few years as it has natural wear on it from the dog skidding about on it. :D and where the main walkways are.

So I would say go for it making sure you use a good paint for the top coat and leave it a few days to cure. I just lived with cardboard on the floor for a few days and it was fine.Even with a Dog and Cat on it and about 30 chooks if they could get in when my back is turned :o It has stood up to the wear really well.

Dads today to do some cleaning for him and then some cleaning for me I think :rotfl:when I get back.

Have a lovely day and I hope you havent got this rain and its Sunny where ever you are :)

Sunny here Mav, but I got caught in it on the way to work. Drizzling near my house and absolutely tipping down where I was changing trains. Thankfully it was just a mad dash from one train to the other and not hanging around waiting for a connection. Showers forecast most of the day though.

Took a trolley load of clothes (mostly DHs - I didn't ask him to Kondo but he decided to anyway!) down to the clothes bank yesterday. Realised that's the only time I use my trolley now since I changed how I shop after leaving London a couple of years ago. So I think that may end up Kondoed soon. It's a Rolser and given me years of service without any complaints, well worth the cost.

Bric a brac bag left outside this morning, saw quite a few on my way to the station. There were also a load of bags stacked up outside the donation bank yesterday. Kondoing must be catching on in my town. :D

in this process, for Mins game day 13 - so far i have discarded

1 spiderman jigsaw (I hope, it's DDs but i think she will let it go)
    2. 1 set of 3 (!) plastic casters for a drawer unit we no longer have
    3. a set of CDs of conference papers i can find online
    4. a pot of batteries i was going to recycle but which are now leaking
    5. a pack of fluorescent guy ropes (hmm, should i be getting shot of these?)
    6. a pile of those little net laundry bags you put your washing tabs in - i gave up those years ago and won't go back.
    7. A pair of "too big for me, too small for everyone else" walking boots to the chazzer

In the words of the Golden Arches advert - I'm lovin it.

    Sorry to quote myself!

    later was added

    8. The remainder of DS GCSE notes, liberating a couple of files for him to use for A level work which saves buying more :T
    9. An ornament that i love, but which got broken a couple of years ago. I finally accepted that, even if i fish the legs out from behind the piano (where they have been for about 4 years) and glue them back on :o:rotfl:, it's never gonna be the same. I have its replacement on my list of things to look out for
    10. Some box files that i've emptied and recycled the contents
    11. a random strap from...... something, not sure what
    12. A pair of shinpads of DS's that he won't wear
    13. Some GCSE textbooks that can go to the chazzer

There actually was more stuff than that (random bits of stationery (ary?) for example. Far more than 13 actual items have left (are about to leave) this house.

Additionally, DD has been through DS Xbox 360 games and earmarked them for selling (he now has an Xbox one which won't play the other games - not daft these electronics people, are they?). They were going to split the proceeds (£30 ) as she did the work, but he has said that she can have it :faints: This will clear a mini drawer unit, that could have some DVDs in it, or might just go...

Taking a trolley load and a half to the chazzer today as DDs friend is coming to stay tomorrow and i need to clear the spare room.

Hope no-one minds me listing my Min's game outcasts - it helps me to realise just how ridiculous i am being hanging on to this stuff. if it helps someone else too, then all to the good.

Someone asked me the other day if I've got rid of anything I regret? Nope - as detailed here, i can't even remember some of it on the same day it's left :rotfl:

Feeling much more human today than i have for the past few after Kondoing a good few hours sleep.:p
I wanna be in the room where it happens
