ds1 (17) got some Terry Pratchett discworld books for his birthday last week. They came in brown cardboard with a stamp in the corner and 'special' stamps. Now will ds1 want to keep the packaging or not...I will ask him later:) pre kondo I would probably have kept it...not any more but the dilemma is still there:rotfl:

Well I bought two more tops. Decided to do the 1 in, 1 out rule as my drawer is full. Ended up pulling out 10 non-joyful tops!

Going to have to do the same to my work clothes shortly if I get this new job, as its environment is a lot more corporate than where I've been working in recent years. So I think everything that's currently there will go.

I saw a gorgeous grey cashmere cardigan in the CS this morning but it was bigger than I would usually get so I left it. Now I am thinking big and baggy would look OK and I should have bought it...

You could go back and see if its still there:p If not, tell yourself it was too big anyway:D,

  • Hello all. Breakthrough Kondoing weekend.

I don't drive, so my bags/boxes/electrical items, have been sitting ready to go since MAY. (DH never around when CS open)

Out-laws came to visit. 1 trip to charity shop. It's ALL gone. :j:j:j

Also, as I had extra hands, we moved a sofa (3 seater) from my study, to the living room. It was to replace the 2 seater that is in there, and I was expecting to have that cluttering my study for the forseeable future. However, MIL had lightbulb idea of rearranging the lay out of the living room. I now have seats for everybody in the living room, and loads of room in the study.

DH is wincing however. I wasn't going to recover the 2 seater. It now of course needs recovering. (And the chair that I have ordered the new cover for is now in my study. Very nice, but very expensive) I'm blaming my mother in law :rotfl::rotfl:

All in all, a wonderful weekend.

Off to re-organise all the space in my study, and kondo a load more stuff that I can now get to.

I queen, I just wish tony Benn was alive to see it.

Absolutely! That crossed my mind too! :o

Shame there are so few of the 'old guard' left to advise on how the original principles can be practically combined with today's world.

It's rare for any politician to stick to his values, resolutely, when he/she is part of the Westminster machine. Perhaps Dennis Skinner can do a bit of mentoring? :)

  • Oooh. Also will be kondoing a couple of dresses. We went out for our anniversary dinner last night, and I ended up wearing the third outfit I tried on. I'd kept the dresses (3 of the same in different colors) although I haven't worn them in years, because I was losing weight, and they brought me joy last time I was able to wear them.

Tried them on, and although they fit OK now I've lost the weight, they show lumps and bumps where my body shape has actually changed. Thankfully I can get them to the CS in my rucksack tomorrow.

Hi everyone - just popping in to say how much I am enjoying the chat and ideas on here, as always, while doing little myself.

However, I have come up with a random target to declutter 100 items from the house in September. So I think I will re-read The Book and get started :).

Welcome peaceandfreedom :D Glad you are enjoying the chat and randomness of the KM thread :rotfl:

That is a good start ;)

  • Well, I have actually achieved something today. Not much, but something :)
I popped to my mums, and while I was out DH went shopping. That meant I had time to sort some stuff in my bedroom.
I have sorted things into categories, and I now have a box of photos and a box of kids stuff (toys, craft bits, etc.). I also have a bag of recycling, a small bag of rubbish, 3 bags for the CS and some empty boxes that can be repurposed at some point. Some China has also been re homed to the kitchen. I now have an empty chair & some more floor space. Yay me! Still more work to be done though.
