The KonMarie method

Morning, everyone!
I've got another visit to the solicitor tomorrow (in town), so I'm sorting out more Stuff for the tip and CS. Still got some bedding, a couple of clothes, and random Stuff for the tip.
iTwin: I agree that the change of mindset does mean that we are more aware, and leads to constant watchfulness. So, kondoing should become (and remain!) a part of our lives. At least, chucking out/re-homing odd items isn't as hard as full-kondoing!
I'm so glad that your relationship with DF has improved - it's really joyful when that happens with family. :j
Sadly, some people are not on the same page, but it is now quite easy for me to kondo any feelings, when a snarky comment is made!
Clear blue skies here! Have a happy, happy day, Konverts! The only way is UP!Needs, NOT wants!

It was back to 'normal' life yesterday ... Already had to do two pieces of dd1 homework, ask dd1 if she was sure we had all the ingredients in for her food tech, realised forgot to buy dd2 new pe shorts! Alongside this normal clubs resumed so we all slept well! My job has not really kicked off yet as zero hours, if it hasn't by next week I am not sure what to do.
Thank you to all who sent hugs about the dog. It was quite hard explaining what 'put to sleep' meant to dd2 as it does literally mean you are killing the animal even though in essence, it is for all the right reasons.
I think knit witch has received lots of hugs for people on this thread. Hope you have space for another one from me. Keep the good memories close to heart to keep you safe when you need a hug.
Not sure who posted it but I did see someone mention they were doing 18 items. I think I will adopt this as now school routine back in place we don't always have the time to do a big kondoe so these baby steps all count.
As I am off today I am going to blitz the house, pay a few bills, pick up dd1 skort for school, get some washing done, do some daily clicks, my stint on vibro plate and go through two boxes of random kondoe. Think that will take me to school pick up time! Want to also sort wheel on dd1 bike, trim hedge and put up mirror but realistically that will prob be done tomorrow!
Please do take a hug....
it was me, probably, with the 18 things thing - i am following "Min's game" from The Minimalists. On day 1 of a month you get rid of 1 item, on day 2 two items etc. i was away for the weekend (days 5 and 6) so on day 7 (yesterday) i had to shed 18 things. Today it was only 8...
i am still doing it by category though - but generally it is falling into "random Komono". I am quite enjoying the pressure of making the snap decision and the "does it spark joy" is very useful.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Morning all, yesterday I cleaned all the spider poo from the conservatory, and washed the windows in there.
Snap!! That's exactly what I've been doing but as ours is a very large conservatory and very grubby I'm doing it in stages. One end ( the worse one) is complete. I can't kondo all the carp as DH has started storing tools in there as shed is leaky (job for another day for him) but now I know it's clean and sparkling and so much better. It even smells good.:D
The spare bed is still covered in crafting bits. I ironed all the vintage lace yesterday. I don't think any more will get done today as I can't spend all my time on MK. Can I?;)0 -
Hubby bought me the Mare Kondo book for our wedding anniversary last Friday after I mentioned that everyone was talking about it on here so I am relatively new to all this.
What is everyone using to separate their tights, undies and socks while storing them in drawers?
Welcome Jo4! :coffee:
Most of us are using whatever is around to segregate stuff. (Buying/making nicer storage can come later, when we are certain of where things are to be permanently kept.)
In the meantime, shoe-boxes, plastic fruit/mushroom punnets, suitable plastic food containers, box lids, cotton-bud containers, joyful chipped mugs, cut-down cereal boxes - you name it - can be used keep items together in drawers or on shelves. Whatever, serves the purpose!
I have Pr!ngle tubes for my different lengths of straight knitting needles, and parmesan tubes for crochet hooks and DPNs. Plastic fruit punnets are useful for make-up and other small items, while family-size mushroom boxes can work well for underwear and socks.
Many people have found that the perfect container, sometimes, just appears, at the right time, for the right job! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!

Kondoing paperwork at the moment. Not easy, because dh thinks the best place to store his weights, spare laptops and printers is in front of the filing cabinet. The laptops and printers are due to be sold, hopefully before year-end!
I just take out a bit of the pile I can reach, throw away as much as possible, sort the rest, and return to a box next to the unsorted pile. It will make it easier once I can reach the files again.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

I was late to the party too but everyone is helpful and nobody seems to mind my daft questions (which they've probably heard so many times before).
Have you read the book?0 -

Mine too, have all my threads, ribbon, buttons, motifs, diamontes etc etc are all out and covering the spare bed, can so much come out of a couple of boxes? Just pulled them all out and are in front of me now, so time to start konding.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Morning all, yesterday I cleaned all the spider poo from the conservatory, and washed the windows in there.
The two triffids  I have kondoed to around half their size! It now looks much brighter. My folding screen has had the material taken back off to clean and scrubbed the frame ,I need to find a way to re attach the material as I had stapled it to the frame originally, but made it difficult to take off to clean.:(
Kondoed some silver twigs with lights wrapped around them, and a very large glass vase which was in the garage.
I must agree that when out shopping I also find myself thinking twice about buying, and usually now don't!
Could you attach velcro to the frame and the fabric and attach it that way?Must use my stash up!0
