No kondoing today, I went out with a friend for lunch at the marina, then we browsed the expensive boutique shops there. Lots of lovely things to attract me, but I left them all there until I know what I want in my house. And then we went to the large and relatively cheap CS, and both came out empty handed. Her husband will not believe it! Do other people find that they aren't buying things they would have bought before MK? I found it quite strange picking stuff up and thinking if I bought it where would I put it? and what's the point in bringing in new bits when I'm still sorting stuff that I don't need? Very peculiar, and yet quite easy to put whatever it was back on the shelf.
My friend seems to have been partially infected by all my talk of MK because she admitted that she had done her T-shirts and also her towels, and she was finding it much easier. She has so far refused to do anything about her undies and socks, but perhaps she will take the idea slowly.0 -
Hubby bought me the Mare Kondo book for our wedding anniversary last Friday after I mentioned that everyone was talking about it on here so I am relatively new to all this.
What is everyone using to separate their tights, undies and socks while storing them in drawers?0 -

I'm flagging a bit - too many RL things in the way - so I'm going to celebrate a significant moment. The plumber called in unexpectedly last week to look at my leaking kitchen tap. I only had 10 minutes warning but I didn't have to do anything to prepare - the kitchen's still quite untidy but the cupboard under the sink is immaculate! It's possibly the first time I've ever had a workman call and not had to scurry around clearing the way to the pipes or meter or whatever and apologising. It felt good :cool:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Today's Mins game was easy
Set of old play dough cutters (I always hated playing with play dough, you'd get it all out, they'd do a couple of bits, tread some into the carpet then say "you can finish it mummy, I am going to watch Thomas". :rotfl: once I even did sit and finish a lovely display hoping it would inspire them - were they interested? Were they heck) - anyway I digress. Play dough cutter repurposed as biscuit cutters (they were rather more interested in the edible form
). They've sat in the cupboard for years JIC, so I dutifully counted out 8 of them for today - then just chucked the whole container. So then I had space on the shelf to move some other things into. There is now some hope that you won't have to duck upon opening the cupboard.
Yesterday I did one of the food cupboards. The inspiration was that DS had new shoes - therefore shoebox :T now I am no slave to a BB date but some stuff was ridiculous. We don't really need one pack of out of date breadsticks, let alone 4
The cupboards are still full but the Avalanche is lessening,...I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
OK - list of stuff out the door while DH was away
He cut back our Bay tree before he went so I've cut quite a bit more so the shape will be better when it regrows. I've now got a builders bag to take to the tip! Stuff included a red glass dish that my Aunt gave us for our Ruby anniversary. A dish with a ball candle and frilly ribbon trimmings, a round vase with some artificial roses and a tall vase with some artificial magnolias - I don't care for artificial flowers so why was I keeping them? DH hasn't noticed
I also managed to Kondo a whole lot of old motor & caravan insurance paperwork and MiL's old savings books. Not a great deal but all very joyful!
Only problem DH came home with 2 beautiful coats for me from my Aunt. A lovely navy trench coat and a mohair and alpaca wrap coat in a dark grey. I don't posses a coat so these are very joyful and they're my colours : :TT
Forgot to add 3 books passed on to friends!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Morning Konverts.
Nipped in to town yesterday to collect my Sunglasses which I had repaired rather than buying a new pair.I felt pretty good about it as wellNormally I would have chucked them and got new ones but going to try not to do this anymore.
While I was nosing about in the Chazzers picked up a pair of 'Not your daughters jeans' for £2.50  I remember someone on here saying how expensive they are to buy new. They spark joy as they fit perfectly and are the right length for meNow hanging up drying cant wait to wear them :rotfl:
To make up for the extra item 3 jumpers kondoed which do not bring me great joy and will keep someone else warm in winter.
Also the leggings that I wore yesterday for running kept rolling up over the knee so they are getting washed and leaving the house.
I have decided with the kondoing I dont think you are ever finished as it becomes a way of life really. A few things creep in and a few things creep out again :rotfl:
But the house is still tidy and cleanish :rotfl:But it looks great on the surface. No more worrying about anyone turning up.As was just said about a stray plumber arriving
My head is still clear of carp thoughts which is the biggest bonus for me ! And I am much more joyful and make better use of my time.Relationships with people I want a relationship with are much much better.Dad and I get on better than we ever have and I am begining to enjoy his company which is something I never thought I would say
I dont suffer anyone I dont want to and if I have too its short sharp and to the point :rotfl:Arms length all the way for me on these situations and I have kept to that 100% and it bl**dy well works.
So this is just a few points from a fellow convert who thought they had finished

It was back to 'normal' life yesterday ... Already had to do two pieces of dd1 homework, ask dd1 if she was sure we had all the ingredients in for her food tech, realised forgot to buy dd2 new pe shorts! Alongside this normal clubs resumed so we all slept well! My job has not really kicked off yet as zero hours, if it hasn't by next week I am not sure what to do.
Thank you to all who sent hugs about the dog. It was quite hard explaining what 'put to sleep' meant to dd2 as it does literally mean you are killing the animal even though in essence, it is for all the right reasons.
I think knit witch has received lots of hugs for people on this thread. Hope you have space for another one from me. Keep the good memories close to heart to keep you safe when you need a hug.
Not sure who posted it but I did see someone mention they were doing 18 items. I think I will adopt this as now school routine back in place we don't always have the time to do a big kondoe so these baby steps all count.
As I am off today I am going to blitz the house, pay a few bills, pick up dd1 skort for school, get some washing done, do some daily clicks, my stint on vibro plate and go through two boxes of random kondoe. Think that will take me to school pick up time! Want to also sort wheel on dd1 bike, trim hedge and put up mirror but realistically that will prob be done tomorrow!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Morning all, yesterday I cleaned all the spider poo from the conservatory, and washed the windows in there.
The two triffids  I have kondoed to around half their size! It now looks much brighter. My folding screen has had the material taken back off to clean and scrubbed the frame ,I need to find a way to re attach the material as I had stapled it to the frame originally, but made it difficult to take off to clean.:(
Kondoed some silver twigs with lights wrapped around them, and a very large glass vase which was in the garage.
I must agree that when out shopping I also find myself thinking twice about buying, and usually now don't!Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

I know what you mean! I have the carpet cleaner man here doing the whole house today and all I had to do was move some of the smaller furniture, dining room and desk chairs, lamps out of the way (thank goodness for large kitchen and bathrooms!) No more baskets of carp and toys and vases etc etc etc etc laying around. Great feeling.. Plus I suspect that a few bits won't make it back too!0
