  • A Frayed Knot: Replacing things is OK, when necessary, but after careful thought. :)

Definately - cant remember when I bought my handbag, at the time was such a good quality one and just the style I liked. Past its best now, and if I could find another the exact same, then that would be it, but needle in a haystack springs to mind. And my once upon a time lovely white bras really need to go, managed to replace one at the weekend but have another couple to go, once replaced. How do they get so grey, so quickly.

As for cs - I never seem to find anything of good quality, my size, colour or style but then I can only manage to get there on a Sat morn when i'm not working.

On saying that though, me best"est" ever bargain was when for months I had been hankering after a new quilt, and was told the hungarian goose was the "best". I priced it in Debenhams only to find they are around/over £200.00 - yes you see correctly !!! Anyhow, this day was in cs and someone was holding up this quilt - I thought - oh wouldn't that be nice - they put it back - I picked it up - looked at the label - and my eyes popped out my head - Yes, my Hungarian quilt from Debenhams - seems they off load their returns - no boxes, packaging etc to the cs. My bargain cost £20.00. I took and still do, take great delight in my best "est" bargain - ever.

    Afternoon, Konverts! :coffee:

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, Knit Witch. (hug) I hope it will help you to know that so many of us are thinking of you.

I've run out of cardboard boxes, for my pre-kondo categories! But the stacks of boxes are neater, until I start those categories. :j

supersaver: Brilliant work on your kitchen! :T ( I daren't start mine yet - too many categories still only part-done! :()

I definitely agree with maman, about keeping the least-used items in corner cupboards! :o Too easy to overlook things in regular use, at the back. ;)

My daughter had a lazy-susan installed with her kitchen, but there is a (cheaper?) hack for this the Internet. A fairly easy job for carpenter or DIYer. :D

mav: I agree, nowt wrong with chazzer-buys, and you and GQ are surely the Chazzer Queens! ;)

Like others, size and style is my problem with chazzer buys. CSes are fabulous here, for the youthful and slim (university students' cast-offs!) :)

Some of my discarded clothes have been saved for re-purposing into baby clothes - it's amazing what can be done with tees, silk shirts and a fleece dressing gown. And don't even start me on what can be sewn from old jeans! :j

mrs-moneypenny: I'm dying to get on with sewing and knitting for DGD1 - so many lovely (free) patterns! :)

I made a lovely blanket for DGS1, kondoing 6 odd balls from my stash. I knitted a giant garter st 'dishcloth' in aran yarn, using each of 4 colours until they were gone, separated by random combinations of single/double/triple stripes in black and white. Then I knitted a doubled edging in black DK. The method is here. :)

Currently, I'm just finishing a crochet circular blanket, in a rainbow arrangement of stash yarn, from burgundy through to deep purple, for DGD1. It's working out really well. :j

A Frayed Knot: I'm in the same position, handbag-wise! A lovely Jane Shilton, inherited from DD1, but need to reline it now, after the years of use by me. Definitely my favourite bag ever. :o

I have white and cream bras for under light/white tops, but generally wear black under everything else, so no greys! Maybe it's hard water - we have soft. Could try a short soak in vinegar, to dissolve the deposits? ;)

I have the same problem as you with chazzer-buys, but being a stitcher, and after seeing how garments and bedlinen can be re-purposed (P1nterest) into very wearable adult garments, I shall be looking in chazzers with that in mind. :D

Congratulations on the duvet - wotta bargain! Hope it makes you exceedingly joyful and cosy! :)

Back to RL, and then, the MK fray.

BTW, my 'irritating happiness' has finally rubbed off on my friend, aforesaid. She has also decided that constant happiness is the only way forward and has 'kondoed' her substantial problems and worries!
    Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
    No debts.

Unfortunately its not the lining - thats perfect, almost as good as the day I bought it, its the outside, lots of cracks and scuffs, no amount of leather cream would sort it out.

Sorry to hear your sad news Knitwitch, take care of you and yours x

tibawo, so sad to hear about your sister's dog, they become such a large part of our families it is so hard to let them go, but it is the kindest thing we can do for them. It was a year yesterday that we lost our old boy Dylan, I still miss him dreadfully, he was a great dog, but I now can remember all the good times. x
