Energy crash today........spirit is willing an all that
House is staying tidy - the main rooms that have been kondoed that is. I only realised today that usually when we return from a trip away it seems to take days for everything to be back in its place. This time its been very quick and easy! I unpacked bags and replaced unused clothes back on hangers/drawers/cupboards etc. Put all the bags away. Cleared the car of carp that seems to collect on a journey and have done all the washing. I have INSISTED that OH and DD2 put all their own stuff away and DD2 obliged - think she is getting the message as she dislikes having an untidy cluttered house but I have had to point out her role in it i.e. it's not all my clutter!! OH on the other hand is a work in progress............although I did hear him harrumphing over having to move some stuff in the conservatory so he could do his stretching exercises...........all his stuff still to be put away from his 'wilderness' trip. Couldnt help but smile to myself.
The conservatory has for more years than I would like to admit to, been full of boxes of my junk/carp/work stuff/keep to sell stuff and lots of JICERSI had to clear it to enable a big house project we had done on April/May and was was met with not with thanks and encouragement but a 'its never going to get cluttered again' cynical comment. Pleased to say nothing in there, that shouldn't be there, is my doing. A small victory

Phew, Konverts, I'm worn out! I did my grocery shop and spent the rest of the day ringing, or being rung!
Also the message board is getting so busy now, it takes me ages to read all the posts!
Well done for keeping the kondo momentum going! I did get rid of 2 bags of junk from the Boxroom of Doom, last night - just bits of tat that I don't know why I ever kept it.Still need to tackle the major Stuff in there.
No real kondoing done today, but I have kondoed a bit more of RL... got an update on the BCC situation from the surgeon - being referred to the best in God's Own.
Got re-assurance from my solicitor, for questions about the 'legal bundle' that arrived from him on Friday.(Hmm, must file those papers after posting this!:))
Managed to speak to the owner of the local s/h book shop - he wants me to email him details of Art books... and 'obscure' handicrafts! (He doesn't have much room at the moment!) :rotfl:
mav: Great tally from the fete - you've done so well and worked really hard! :j So the goal posts are paid for, and a bit in the kitty for Beckham!
At least everything piled in you Room of Doom is all one category - shame it's komono!
Katsu: Thanks for the nail varnish details. I'll look out for some on the Bay - don't go into town, if I can avoid it!
GQ: Can I bag your Mum's treadle sewing machine? I learned to sew on my Mum's and inherited it when she bought a Frister & Rossman electric. Then I inherited that when she upgraded to a zig-zag.
I really regret getting rid of Mum's treadle, as MaryB, says... come the day... and those days come regularly here, without electricity! (Hmmm, maybe I should KEEP my portable typewriter?:D)
I have 1 sewing machine - basic 1980s zig-zag (+ my DS1's commercial sewing machine, which is in the loft) - not sure if he ever used it!
I used to have 2 knitting machines, a Bond and a Brother. Sold the Brother years ago, but the Bond is under my bed. Both barely used - I'm a 'pure' knitter! Machine knitting didn't bring me any joy at all! :rotfl:
Can any multi- sewing machine owner tell me why they have 2+, please. I can understand needing an overlocker/serger today, with stretch fabrics, (on my Wish List) but why extra sewing machines?
Off to kondo some Cumberland sausages and mash, followed by some more kondoing in the Boxroom of Doom. :dance:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Glad to hear that you're getting sorted iQueen, as you were my impetus to get mine looked at.
Ten days on and the healing is in full swing and things are looking good here. Having someone who knows what they're doing makes a big difference long term. Fingers crossed you're in the queue and quickly sorted. x0 -
Oh, no! Just discovered that I still have a page and a half of posts to read!
On the other hand - it makes me joyful! :rotfl: :jNeeds, NOT wants!

Sad thing is that if the new surgeon does it, I shall be at the bottom of a new NHS waiting list!
I'm glad your op is healing beautifully! :j:j:j
But I'm still :dance:Needs, NOT wants!

Iqueen, I have 2 machines really because the hand crank is just something I can't bear to part with, but the electric one is much faster and has more than one type of stitch.
My sister has three, each fancier than the last - one (I'm told) is portable for attending courses, one is specially for embroidery and fancy stitches, I forget the reason for the third one but apparently you need at least two in case one is being serviced/repaired. She does a lot of quilting. And she's a sucker for sales talk! :rotfl:
I don't really get it - my basic one makes curtains, cushions, bags, clothes and I'm intending to make new sofa covers, it's not really built for that but I'm sure I can persuade it to do the job. It cost £99, it's pink and I love it!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
The 2 candle holders that I put on the kitchen table yesterday to consider whether to keep or not have now gone in the charity bag.No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -
Which do you have missing? I have started to find some in my change again! I completed my sets.
I wonder if people are starting to spend their collections? They'll never be worth much as too many of them but hobbies are fun. I'm missing foosball, judo, sailing, tennis, triathlon, weight lifting and wrestling.....I haven't made a massive effort to get them but for some reason now, I'm thinking it would be nice. Funnily enough I've had 2 of the Olympic 2 pound coins in my change recently....Oops! Either I'm going doolally, or MSE is! Only half a page to catch up... my Thanks button didn't work. :mad

So much to catch up on!
Grey Queen, I can't get rid of curtains or cat boxes either but I do have multiple cats. Lol at how many people have cat chairs!!
Islandmaid, awesome new additions to your family when they arrives! Any issues with the Cp just try another charity, ours is overflowing....
Goodness so much else going on.....once worn clothes (over an airer), Billy the Bass (omg), and freezing eggs?? I need to look into that. Having rescued 6 ex commercial hens, my egg box overfloweth!!
I started a one in one out policy a few years back. Thank goodness or I'd be in an even worse pickle.
I've stalled a bit, been having a bout of insomnia which hopefully is passing so had no energy at all. Haven't even had a tidy or done housework. The energy I have had has been prioritised to seeing friends and doing nice things. House is a complete tip but I'm not worried, just hoping I don't have any unexpected visitors.....change will come in its own time. Having some lovely conversations with my terminally ill friend. Trying to just treat her business as usual.
Those of you also stalling....some great advice I took was not to expect things to change overnight but to make 1% changes at every opportunity.Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!0
