Mavvy - take a look at the sewing machine that a certain Swedish store sells - very well built and a good basic range of stitches and I think its under the amount you have saved
Loved the idea of wearing something different. I bought some candy pink jeans when we were in Italy last year (sale - because they were long leg!!)
Not worn them yet so out they will come and I will think of my Mum - who made me a lovely dress when I was about 10 'for best' and when the time came for me to wear it - it was too small & I was heartbroken as it was so pretty.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I think my man at the fete would be so pleased if he thought us lot would really learn NOT to save anything for best
Lets see if this week we can all wear something we would not wear for everyday normally:)As a tribute to all those people who are no longer around and never got a chance to wear their best  things. and also lets report back on how we feel about wearing it
I have put things on and then thought oh no I wont wear this as its too good for x y z and taken it back off. Why is it too good for anything ? Its just in our heads Sunday best and all that jazz I suppose.
So what are you going to wear this week lets free it from our wardrobes and put it on show where the world can see it
P.S. love the idea of the orange jeans, I have some shocking pink NYD ones that I bought for £6 Nwot!
I will start tommorow I will be wearing Bright Orange skinny jeans (which I never really wear as I think I will stand out too much and I might get them dirty) and a Black top which has a massive Bow on :rotfl:in Orange and Green sounds Bl**dy awful but its not its very joyful but once again its too good being Ted B*ker and far to good for everydayeven if it came from a chazzer and cost £2 how sad
What are you going to free from your wardrobe this week ?

Have a lovely part day on my own and had been slobbing around in my big fluffy red JL robe, had put out black trousers and a black/cream/red sweater to wear, but decided to bite the bullet and am now wearing black/grey and grey/black Joe Browns dress with grey leggings under, and a black cashmere cardi over (freezing here today) with my heart singing pale grey long scarf with silvery polka dots on. Truly joyous outfit.
Thank you Mav, I think that a lot of us are conditioned by the Sunday best/ it will do mentality.
I am playing Joanne Shenandoah's Album Matriarch
This one
I have several of her albums after hearing a track being played in a shop one day, at a time in my life when I was stressed silly with problems coming from all directions I think that she might have saved my sanity:) This is one quote about the album, I appreciate it will not be to everyone's taste, but boy does it work for me.
If you need to feel protected, nurtured, welcomed, prayed for, creative, and blessed, play this album. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Mav - if you ever see the man from the fete again, you should tell him what an inspiration his story has been.
I have builders here, so am mostly wearing the gym kit I put on first thing for my pilates classes etc as I don't have an opportunity to change!0 -
Great post Maddie.:)
I got sidetracked this morning. Found what I think (hope) is the final box of photographs. My plan has been to just store them in one place and go through them on a cold, wet, dark, miserable day (just like today!:rotfl:).
These were mostly inherited and some in manky frames so I thought I'd recycle/bin frames to save space. Disagreed with date on back of grandparents wedding photo so went on to Ancestry to check and.....Where did the morning go?:o
Just stopped for lunch so back to it in a moment.;)0 -

I haven't looked at family history stuff for a long time, have two large bags of paperwork in the room of doom which needs sorting:(
Back in the day when we lesser mortals only had very slow dial-up, my bosses (tiny private firm) allowed me to stay on after work to do my research on my office p.c. using broadband. It was only when I realised that my tum was growling and that it was getting dark outside that I noticed how much time I had been there:rotfl::rotfl:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Not looked at my family history stuff for a long time, I have phases when I really get into it. I've got 3 lots on the go dhs parents and my mum, didn't get far at all with my dad as his dad died when he was young.
I must get it out again and have another go at it.SPC~12 ot 124

They must of been a joyful couple as I only know the house as being the one that always held a Eurovision song contest party every yearcomplete with all the flags hanging up before hand and the Winners Flag proudly flying on the roof for about a week after :rotfl:But the winners flag was always about 3 times the size of the others. So always wondered if they had a big flag of every country in it or had some insider infomation  I always wanted to be invited as it looked a fab party. Now I will ask him about the flags and clear that one up
and say thank you for opening our eyes on regards to our now not 'Sunday Best' Enjoy your fabulous outfits this week kondites we deserve to be seen
and no you are not getting your hands on my Bright Orange skinny jeans as I will be wearing them

Hi all,it's just started raining here after a lovely day yesterday, when dgson kondoed the weeds from the path for me while I got stuck into the bushes!
Love the elderly man's style I wonder if he can offer any tips !;)
I also have bright pink skinny jeans, and was going to wear them for pub quiz last week but chickened out cos they draw attention to me  but I shall definitely wear them tomorrow :T
I got out my metal paperwork file last night and went through it with dh, huge pile was kondoed, but broke the shredder:T which has now also gone!
Have fitted a basket inside my sink cupboard door, and folded all my new cloths and sponges in it.the ones in use are in a mushroom punnet in the bottom, next to basket with cleaning supplies in sprays and bottle form.
I don't have a sewing machine but would love one!
Chairs - none upstairs, 3 seat and love seat and armchair in lounge,2 dining chairs in kitchen, 3 seater and 1 chair in conservatory.
Garden has table and 4 chairs, plus 2 seat and 2 chairs,
Garage has 4 more dining chairs for when we have visitors, plus 4 folding chairs and 4 camping ones :T
Great total Mavvymoo new goalposts, and no banged heads now !Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
I have now sorted through the pile of mail which I have either filed or shredded. While filing I also dealt with the paperwork in my bedside drawer, 50% of it went through the shredder. Feeling much better now.
I have also sorted through OH's medication box. A bag with out of date medication is now ready to be taken to the pharmacy. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0
