Would love a walk in wardrobe.
love the way she's labelled everything in her OH's wardrobe so he knows where his things go lol
I laughed at the relative sizes of their wardrobes too :rotfl:MadelinesMum wrote: »Hi all, I'm going to start on the cupboard under the sink - which I have put off and put off. That's a tight spot isn't it! I'm just remembering from years ago when my aunt lived in a tiny flat, a lot was stored in cardboard boxes, covered in wallpaper, with a rope handle on the front (make 2 holes in the box front, thread rope through from the outside, knot each end inside). She was a storage queen now I think about it! Anyway I wonder if something similar might work, maybe plastic boxes with a handle attached so you can pull it out to see what you've got?
I'm happy to report that last night I Kondoed all my clothes, shoes, bags etc. I have a bag for the chazzer (thanks GQ for that word :rotfl:). Now all my clothes are in my wardrobe or one c-o-d, or in the hall for outerwear. I have 2 empty plastic underbed boxes and an empty c-o-d!
It's noticeable that a lot of my clothes are dark colours, so I shall work on replacing with lighter colours when it becomes necessary.
Thanks to everyone for the continuing chat, tips, ideas and good humour on this thread

Swapped over handbags this morning as I cam across an old bag I've not used for along while.
Found an earring and necklace set I've been looking for, for over a year and some eyeshadow I'd forgotten I had.
Time to Kondo the rest of my wardrobe to see what else I can find0 -

My cupboard is the same but with less pipes. I have put the cleaning things I don't use daily in the corner bit and have things like washing up liquid and clothes to the front. It's not brilliant but looks a lot better than it did. I like the idea (sorry I forget whos it was) of the boxes with the rope handles to pull out.0 -
I have glued a plastic cup hook to the back of the undersink cupboard door and have hung a big clip from it - the sort they sell for pinning papers together with a magnet on for cluttering up the front of the fridge IYKWIM. However it is brilliant for holding my rubber gloves fingers uppermost so that the inside can't get wet.
I have another hook on the inside of another cupboard door on which I hang a miniature dustpan and brush. It makes clearing worktops so easy as I just sweep up flour and breadcrumbs before I wipe, instead of getting a wet cloth all gunky.
Very mundane but they bring me joy - it doesn't have to be beautiful to do that as long as it makes life pleasanterIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
If you know someone who drinks wine from a wine box, don't throw them out when empty they make VERY useful storage with one thin side cut off as they are narrow but deep and fit in awkward spots. Some of them already have a plastic pull handleIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

seriouly though great idea. Im looking at anything I can cut up to use for storage and line drawers.
I am using an unwanted pill organizer to store my stud earings.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

GreyQueen, have you thought about vertical storage? In my other house I turned a tall slim set on its side for shoes? It then fitted under the spare bed. I put flush to the front IYSWIM so I could pull a drawer without reaching underneath. The drawers were square though, similar to a filing cabinet.0

I mean, why on earth am I keeping tax assessments from 15 years ago? Why have I still got electricity/telephone/gas/oil bills from 10 years ago? I've got bank statements going back that far too!
I'm going to tackle the paperwork today.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I have different bags for work and weekends so the light bulb moment for me was to round up all the bits I had in the bag I needed (tablets, lip gloss, folding brush, mirror, tissues, ear phones etc) and pop them in a see thru zipped bag - now I can just lift the zip bag from one handbag to another - great stuff.
As a result of my Kondoing I now have empty -
1 - Pull out drawer in my wardrobe
2 - 1 large rattan storage basket
3 - 2 x smaller square rattan basket
4 - 1 long rattan basket (used to keep all my magazines in that one - gawwwn)
5 - Small chest of drawers (with 3 drawers)
6 - Re metal filing cabint (from Ikea) 6 shallow drawers
Did all my dishes, china and glassware last night - that was really hard cos I love china but I only kept the ones that sparked joy and it feels really good - lurrve this system...Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0
