By the way, if you think Marie Kondo is slightly bonkers, try 'Why Cleaning Has Meaning' by Linda Thomas (I'd advise borrowing from the library rather than buying, as it's not cheap): http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00GL9R7V4
She's a South African lady who moved to Switzerland, the original book is written in German and has not been brilliantly translated so some of the grammar is a little strange, but it has some interesting (or downright bonkers, depending on your point of view) ideas in it!0 -
Tonight I did...
Pans
Bakeware (metal and ceramic)
Teapots and jugs
Under kitchen cupboard
I am now doing things by smaller bites but still all the same kind of stuff - I have notice how much tidier things are as there are now homes for the stuff I have been Kondo'ing - its really much easier to put stuff back in its proper place than leave stuff lying around - how cool is that?Kondo'ed 76 items from wardrobe, 4 carrier bags of books0 -
I do this once a month. My washer is ancient (14yrs)
I don't use fab con I'm convinced it gets stuck in the pipes and causes the funny smell.
White vinegar and essential oils (cheapo wilkos)is all you need.
Even a capful of zoflora for sports gear.
I must admit I haven't cleaned my washer for ages. I must do it once a month too
I was wondering whether fabric conditioner may be the culprit , its definitely worth trying white vinegar and essential oils x0 -

I'm so with you on the Kondo2. I know it's against the rules but the fact that everything be will corralled in one place will make Kondo2 much easier. I really believe (having now finished the book) that the amount of room available to the original target audience is so much less than available to us.
Still doesn't mean I need all that stuff but the fact I was able to choose a pair of knickers & socks this morning that made me happy & I knew were whole & decent in event of bus mowing me down is amazing......and I was able to shut the drawer afterwards:D

It does work my elderly washer never smells now. Put 4 tablespoonsof bi carb or a few soda crystals in the drum no laundry tho. Then half a bottle of white vinegar in the fab con drawer
put on a hot programme it cleans all the pipes.
ive used the washing machine cleaner from poundland I think thats good as well.when I used fab con there was a buld up in the drawer and shocked to find black mold behind the drawer yuk. Dont get it now.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

Just a word of warning - I opened a drawer this morning and found a £2 Coin in a thimble box and thought !!!!!!?? Why is that there? Why would I have kept it among holiday trinkets and souvenirs? Honestly, I was so puzzled and annoyed with myself and consumed by this automatic 'let it go' get rid mode - thinking myself utterly bonkers for having kept such a thing. How long have I been carting that thing around the world? I emigrated to t'other side of the world ten years ago and packed and move my stuff several times during that process - how did it possibly survive the many culls that took place?
I took it out of the box - threw the box and put the coin to one side to add to the 'foreign / holiday' money box.
Then over breakfast I started to quiz myself some more, why was it there? There MUST surely be something special about that coin I had missed or forgotten about - looked at the date 1986 and still no 'spark of joy' or fathomable reason as to why I kept it in a special little box all on its ownsome.
Then after some brain wracking, I thought to google and see was there anything special about this coin and indeed there was, had I looked around the side of the coin I would have seen that it was the Commonwealth Games Commemorative issue - the very first issue of £2 Coins. Still worth naff all but I am glad that I didn't just blithely discard it. Phew!!
Now I have to fish the box out of the bin and put it back - hopefully whoever has the job of going through my things in another thirty years time will find it interesting or worth a little something anyway!!!Mortgage

Softstuff - love the picture of you and hubby sitting folding placccy bags together..:D
He looked as happy as I did. He is as anal as I am though :rotfl:What songs do you like to clean to and motivate
Going with the Queen theme: Another one bites the dust
Disney: A whole new world
In reality I like a bit of Santana or Bruno Mars... though my singing grates on the husband somewhat.
Kiwisaver... I think if the coin didn't mean anything to me initially, then I'd have stuck with the original decision, but that's just me and I'm not very sentimental. Coins I've found don't tend to have much value 20 or 30 years on (my grandfather used to buy the sets for me from birth, their value tends to only be that on the coin), so unless it was something particularly special to me, I wouldn't worry.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
