Went out this morning to pick up prescriptions and return library books, top up dds phone card and buy bread and milk.

Was hoping "the book" would be waiting at the library as I reserved it over a week ago - but all three copies in the area are put on loan.

Intended to treat dd and myself to a bite of lunch in newly refurbished cafe on way home but as it was packed and we had waited over five minutes and no one had taken our order decided to walk home and make ourselves a posh sandwich with YS prawn cocktail, organic lettuce and tomato and a few home made chips instead.

Found a huge cardboard box under the sink which had blue cleaning clothes, string type dishcloths and microfibre cloths all thrown together in a huge jumble. Folded and rolled them all into three ice cream boxes which makes more space and I can find things more easily.

I have made a start at last!!!!!!!

OH's underwear has been folded as has mine.

OH's t-shirts, thermals, jumpers and jeans have all been Kondoed!

I recently discarded most of my clothes as OH kindly told me they were frumpy and dowdy, i have only replaced a very small amount of my clothes as yet.

I reckon OH and I could happily share one chest of drawers.

I made plans to go out tomorrow to meet a friend, i'm kind of annoyed now though as i am desperate to stay in and Kondo the wardrobes.

I have to confess that i thought you were a bit strange when you told of looking in your tidy drawers................. I am SORRY, i have been through and looked 3 times.

    Regards

I've kondo'd the airing cupboard today. The towels are rolled and all the tatty ones have been removed . . I found a blow up bed in there , and a baby scarf , hat and mittens .:o must have been there years .
They are in good nick so I will drop them off at the chazzer.

Also cleaned the washer out as it was smelling fusty, a mix of vinegar, soda bicarb and a hot wash cycle did the trick . Then a good scrub round the door and seals . Soaked the powder dispenser and scrubbed where the dispenser fits . It seems fine now no fusty smell :T
  • I've been following this thread with interest as I am an excellent hoarder and procrastinator :) So far have folded the plastic bags and tea towels.

I have reserved the book from the library but there are 3 ahead of me, word of the cult is definitely spreading.

Today I had tidied under the kitchen sink and discarded things I haven't used in over a year.

Clothes are a bit difficult to do atm. We have no proper storage in our bedroom as I dismantled the wardrobes that were here when we brought the house hoping my mums furniture would fit. It didn't! We did have a good sort out a few months ago so it's not as bad as it use to be. We are still trying to decide if fitted or free standing wardrobes would be best as its a very small space.

I have a loooong way to go but start a new job in 3 weeks and am aiming to be able to walk into the spare room, aka dump, by then!

    Well done everyone!!!!

Today I have kondoed the cupboard of doom under the sink. I did buy a set of drawers for under there so that I could make best use of the height of the bottom shelf, if you see what I mean. I am chuffed with it :)

Threw out various plastic crud ......why were we keeping it? Why?

First lot of books bagged and tagged and left at Oxf*m along with DD2 offerings :) Almost half the book shelves on landing have now been koned/konned and I keep finding excuses to go upstairs and look at it - phew was it dusty! I have removed quite a few recipe books that I havent looked at in ages and some reference books the same - what is the wibbly web for!! I have kept some books which looking at them, made me smile so I guess that it the 'bringing joy factor' I am not necessarily going to read them again but they evoked a memory and I have to disagree with the poster about 'stuff' not being memories - well no they are not but I had happy thoughts when I picked up a couple of books and just about their contents but where and when I read them......so decided to keep them:) Turns out we use to read a lot of poetry too!

I do this once a month. My washer is ancient (14yrs)
I don't use fab con I'm convinced it gets stuck in the pipes and causes the funny smell.

Feel irritated by life in general atm, especially work that is piling up.

Am going to treat myself to some more Kondo-ing (progressing to the boxes of clothes in bedroom 2) for a good 90 minutes and then get my head down again. I may feel stressed but I needn't have an untidy environment.

    Hi all,

Getting frustrated reading how well your all doing...

We are camped out in the spare room, all our clothes and general stuff are in black bags and a couple of tatty drawer - the good news is that our own room is going to be finished (complete rebuild) end of next week, so I can chuck all our clothes on our new carpet and get sorting - the spare room is going to be a temporary kitchen the day after the clearout LOL. Such fun.....

I wonder if loads of you are waiting for the same books at the same library.

Maybe people returning a library book should leave so sing tightly samosa'd ( so it doesn't damage the book). in it, in case the next person is an old style konvert. Is that against library rules?
