I think so. I didn't buy this c-of-d, it was a cast off from Mum's and the size wasn't so critical in my other flat, which had a large bedroom. Here, every inch counts. I feel that I would be at-home in small Japansese homes, the tinyness of flats in this block is a running gag. Some people on the waiting list decline to accept them on size grounds alone.
I wouldn't even mind having a tall, shelved cabinet, if I could see something which suited the space. I don't mind breaking convention and using furniture for purposes which it was not intended. I resolved my sewing supplies problem by measuring the floor area I had to devote to the solution, and the maximim height (lower than the light switch) and shopping to a combination of space and storage needed. The answer was a CD/DVD storage cabinet from a chazzer which works brilliantly.
Righty, better get that floor polish on, have a cuppa, and head out once it's dry; I'm a woman with a mission.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Cheeky question....
Would anyone be prepared to show finished drawers. Particularly keen ATM to see results of jumper folding. Pictures here would help, ( I'm not a Pinterest user). For some reason I'm really struggling with this folding business. I'm ok at horizontal folding!
To the person who said she didn't need thirty two jumpers....
I think what we need depends on our lifestyles. I don't think I have thirty two jumpers / cardis. But I have a fair few including rough work and gardening clothes. I am editing, but I'm not getting rid of stuff I like or find useful. Today I have got changed once already ( rough work clothes outside to dayish slobby clothes. I'll be getting changed later this evening for my DH coming home. That's my life style, while I'd probably like to smarten up the middle section of the day I'm not in right place ATM. So be it, for now.0 -
Hi all, I'm going to start on the cupboard under the sink - which I have put off and put off. It is a horrible cupboard in the corner, which is practically inaccessible, so the stuff that gets put in there never sees the light of day again. I'm not sure how to better utilise the space.I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0

Could it possibly support a carousel, not sure of the proper name, what I mean is one of those cupboard fitting which rotate a rack outwards when you open the door so that the contents come with the door and are accessible?

I quite like my under sink. My key is simplicity in cleaning products. I keep things in square washing up bowls to pull out ( who knew I was kondo ing?)
Apart from the stashes, the products are simple, but kept in columns of use, I take from the front.
Another great tip is the one to have a pole across the top to hand things from, like gloves, and a basket for things like washing up brush/scrubbing brush , another one for cloths or whT ever is convenient for you to have hanging there, Clothes pegs ?.
I also LOVE back of door storage, I just haven't got round to any yet. That it takes from dept of cupboard is not a problem from me, as deeply packed cupboards are just stuff lost at the back IMO. You just need a line across the bottom you know you cannot cross.0 -
Hi all hope you don't mind me joining you. I've been following the thread but decided to buy the book as well just to get the context. I've just got up up to the bit when she gets a new phone (oookay:rotfl:)
So I can't say I've fully Kondoed but I have done my clothes
I usually prepare my clothes the night before and put them on a hanger ready for the morning. If I don't do this its chaos and I lose about 30 mins.
Not so this morning:
Open drawer; select underwear and socks.
Open wardrobe: select top, jumper and trousers. Job done
Would someone be kind enough to direct me to the post about Samosing Carrier bags? I've tried looking but its a long thread0 -
Here is my cupboard - it goes right into the corner and it's difficult to get to anything. Plus the pipes are a bit of a hindrance.

This whole tidying business has unexpected bonuses. Went round to a friends house, demonstrated samosaing carriers.... showed her how to ranger roll socks and a t-shirt. She thought I'd finally lost my senses, so poured me a large glass of red wine :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070

Budget Closet Organization Tips: For Any Closet!: http://youtu.be/z1zd2vGBlA4
Not strictly MK well we arent following the book to the letter anyway.
Some good ideas though. Her hubbys closet at the end is like something I have .
Would love a walk in wardrobe.
love the way she's labelled everything in her OH's wardrobe so he knows where his things go lol0 -
I found when I folded the three t-shirts I sleep in, and which took up the whole drawer! that they only took up a small corner of the drawer, so I put a shoebox in the space and put in the bits and bobs I had on the top of the bedside chest of drawers, so it's looking much less cluttered. I've got a little book rack there still which is full (plus I have a pile of books next to the bed) but I'm going to cull some of those too.0
