Just finished going through the bedding. I thought I'd decluttered it not long ago but have managed to clear a huge pile for the charity shop. Got rid of all the pink girly stuff that my girls won't touch with a barge pole now. I was keeping them for an emergency... Not sure what, maybe Barbie coming to stay?!?!

That REALLY made me laugh Phizzimum:-D

OK I've finished reading the book.

Couldn't resist a little "dabble" tonight going through my sleepwear. Discarded a few bits but really I know I'm not doing it properly just yet. Ready to start afresh tomorrow - think I'll start with off-season clothes as she suggests. I'm ridiculously excited to start - feel like a child on Christmas Eve.... :-)

    Hi

I came across this method quite by accident recently on this thread and im now hooked! Its great, getting a very amazing sense of joy from folding everything into neat little rectangles and discovering I have way more storage space than i thought.
    Starting with a clean slate.

I have solved my problem of storing vests, t shirts and long sleeved shirts in the wardrobe. I ranger rolled the tea towels and micro fibre cloths and took them out of the baskets they were in and put them in two plastic pots. I then took my bras and knickers out of one of the drawers in my chest of drawers, kondoed them and put them in the baskets which had been in the kitchen. These have gone on the shelf in the wardrobe where the t shirts etc were. The t shirts etc have gone in the drawer where the knickers and bras were.

I have also kondoed my night shirts and jamas. These were in two drawers that I could barely close. I have kondoed them, folded and got rid of quite a lot. They are still in two drawers but I can now close them easily.

I now understand why you all keep opening your drawers and looking at them. I am so impressed by the way they look, all tidy and well arranged!

This thread is making me laugh

Greetings from Singapore!!! It is 30 degrees and sunny - thought that might pee you off:rotfl: I am going to work soon though.

So, whilst my home kondo-ing is put on hold (please don't let them mess it up - OH and DS home together for two weeks ), the principles have spilled over here too.

My colleagues could not believe how small my suitcase is - it is less than half the size of theirs, though they are men with suits so can't cram it in. One said "have you just come for the day" :D

But it was rolled and folded within sn inch of its life and is, indeed a capsule wardrobe. Every "bottom" has at least two matching tops, I have stuck to beiges and navy's with only three plain cardies (I don't think I will need cardies here, but am going to Hong Kong next week where it is cooler - pity me :rotfl:). It is all stored neatly in draws, and even the "dirties" are folded nicely. It is most unlike me - but I like it:D. I can't get much laundered either so have really had to consider what I brought with me.

    Keep going folks
I wanna be in the room where it happens

That's great! every little area/drawer/cubby helps to chip away
The clutter once and for all.
MK suggests 6months to complete Kondoing
Just go at your own pace.

Me? I'm hoping I'm done long before then.
Don't want to be stuck in managing stuff any longer than I have to

I started to extremely kondo my wardrobe yesterday
Even though I did it last week
As I want a basic capsule wardrobe for a mature lady. Love the idea of wearing the same few outfits in two basic colours - black and white
With some brighter coloured accessories scarves,
    Nail polish, lipstick ect.
I don't care if people notice if I'm wearing the same stuff
That's going to be my style
    So audrey Hepburn (I wish)
I'm sure they won't tho but who cares

I've been feeling a bit stuck and tired last couple of days I'm
Sure it's the letting go causing that. I looked in the dining room where the piles of discards are and felt a bit panicky.
All that stuff that doesn't fit or spark joy clogging up my life.
The air feels so stifled in there. Like the stuff is using up the air.
Some Chazzers are like that aren't they if they are over packed with old stuff.

My biggest challenge is the sentimental komono
For instance I still have one of my sons baby quilt..... He's 35!!!!!
Could make a nice cover and use it for a lap quilt maybe.

ANYWAY! going to get a grip and pack up the discards
I know I will feel better when it's out if the house

Well done all on your KM adventure!:T

Has anyone re kondoed an area. I redid my airing cupboard and put the top sheets and folded all the fitted sheets into a banana box on the top shelf and got rid of a new duvet which I don't know why I bought. I also tidied my bureaux again where all the komono was.I had dozens of birthday cards which I bulkbuy It was tidied but there was still a few bits to sort. I had 17 pairs of scissors so now have 2 in the kitchen drawer and 3 in the bureaux and 1 in the first aid box.
I am going to do handbags today - I have a large collection. Handbags always fit when the rest of me gets fatter. ;)I bought a handbag organiser for £3 from Primark and just move it from handbag to handbag. Like the idea of keeping 1 bag inside another with the straps/ handles showing. Off to do more KM ing.

Jinny I wrote a post for you and it disappeared. Your quilt - could you photograph it and use it as a screen saver or on your phone , frame it, turn it into a pillowsham or a cushion cover. Just keep it and the solution will come to you.

Some great ideas it's just a plain yellow. Quilt
    A bit grubby too
So might make it into a quillow thats a quilt that folds into a pillow
    Very kondo eh?
I usually pull it over my knees when sewing so it will sit on my sewing chair nicely
