Enjoy more of the small things in life, dinner with a friend, a bubble bath, a walk with the dog, cuddle with the cat, kidswhatever. That way you aren't waiting for so long in between each joyful event, in the same way as we count the days until our next holiday. You can have joyful experiences a-plenty.
I was contacted by someone from the past (after over a year of silence) last night that I really don't need to have any ongoing contact with. I replied to ask them to stop reminding me of past sad events in my life, which is the only reason they contact me, (presumably in a moment of self pity) and got a big woe is me sob story in return. The old me would have replied trying to reason with them and probably also got dragged into a long and very depressing phone call.
The new me has decided to just not reply and hope they fade out of my life......and if they don't I will give them a shove. Its time to be kind to myself now.
The small things, which we have over-looked for years, with rushing through life, bring me real joy. The poem that highlights this for me, and has been mention earlier here, begins: 'What is this world, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare...'
That contact 'out of the blue' reminded me of 2 contacts my late mother had, in similar vein.
Before the Internet, she received a long phone call from the mother of an ex-boyfriend of mine, neither of whom she had met or had any contact with, and some years after he'd become an ex!
A few years after that, she had a late-night drunken call from her sister-in-law, whom she couldn't stand.
No idea how she dealt with them, but I don't think either rang again!
Sadly, some relationships are just too unhealthy to continue, so, well done, juliebunny! I kondoed a close 'friendship' of over 60 years, 3 years ago. It was definitely the right thing - my self-esteem is no longer being constantly hijacked. To reward myself for kondoing my makeup ive been shopping.:rotfl:
Two pairs of skinny jeans (black naturally)
1 pair heels (black of course)
1 white shirt
1 grey snood
8 pair of pants (black to match my bras)
1 bronzing powder and kabuki brush
1 Extra dimension eyeshadow (to make up for the pallette i kondo'd the other day)
3 pairs of reading glasses (i'm down to my last pair)
Tried everything on and they all bring me joy!Just have to present the receipts to hubby now who will have to transfer the money ive spent.
I dont think i've got the hang of Kondoing yet have i?
Hmm. As long as they weren't impulse buys, and you really considered what you bought, I think that's OK. I presume that you actually need 4 pairs of reading glasses? :rotfl:

Definitely agree with that and while I've considerably kondoed the bathroom surfaces, it does give me joy to see Clarins items out that I'm actually using. Same with clothes (although plenty left to do here) if I'm going to have fewer clothes they will be good ones. No more impulse buys from the supermarket. However we dont buy many presents now as we made a stand a few years ago, so this little stash will last us years.:o
Thanks everyone for the wrapping paper ideas. I think I've settled on the underbed drawer as it's not just Christmas paper but I need to check it fits in. We've stopped buying Christmas gifts for all but a few children and as they get older I tend to give money anyway (and stop when they get to 18 except for big birthdays). Immediate family we buy for birthdays and friends and relatives we choose to spend time with we'd rather go for a day out/meal together and foot the bill as a treat. To reward myself for kondoing my makeup ive been shopping.:rotfl:

I'm sure he'll be fine considering the DAB radio he had last week.;)
I'm considering making a list of things I need to replace some kondoed items. Probably should make do with what I've got:(.
I kondoed handbags and now have very few (6?) although I use the same one every day. They live in a chest of drawers in the hall. May return at a future date and weed out more.
Next task is another overhead cupboard. I found a length of muslin yesterday and went to put it away in fabric stash and a whole bagful fell out on me!:eek:0 -

Dunno about Sports bras - I'm not sporty!
My big wired bras: I do them up, lay them flat and fold in half, and file them with wire-ends down. I had more pairs than I dreamed possible, when I kondoed them, so mine 'support' each other! :rotfl: If you have less, stand them in a punnet/box of the required size, to keep them upright.
Because of the shallow drawer that mine are presently in, mine are slightly inclined, rather than completely vertical.Needs, NOT wants!

No i dont really need so many but i go to bed reading and very often break them by falling asleep with them on. I keep meaning to look on Eb*y but never get round to it.I'm sure he'll be fine considering the DAB radio he had last week.
We wont count the two phones he bought but didnt like before settling for one he did like....:rotfl:

I love "what is this life..." - it resonates with me too. In fact so much so that i wrote this parody on FB a few months ago. it's a bit carp, but might make you smileWhat is this life? You hear me hark,
When all I do is sit and mark.
I see some folk beyond these walls,
as over page my red pen scrawls,
who seem to be so full of fun
they sing and dance and walk and run.
But me, i sit here hour on hour
reading scripts which make me glower.
There are some good ones bringing cheer
And the "no sh*t Sherlock"s that appear.
But still, sit at this desk I must
Until this pile's reduced to dust

I Kondoed some hair today - gone for a bit of a revamp though nothing too drastic. Told the hairdresser to do what she would do if it were her hair :eek:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

you were very brave.
The sides of my hair are almost as long as the back now and i it wont be long before i can start growing it a little. Not too long though, i hate to see women with hair scraped back off their face because its long and gets in the way. If your going to tie it up then you might as well cut it short.
*Waits for someone to fiercely disagree with me because they have long hair scraped back in a bun*

Judi, what lens & style are your readers? I've got several pairs lounging in a drawer since I bit the varifocal bullet!
Am pleased to see my wedding glasses are the source of amusement...that's the most fun they've had since being gifted to us! An GQ I note your useful advice, thank you.
Underwired unpadded bras in 34DD are folded in half, have their backs tucked into the cups, and stand on their wires in my drawer. Unpadded, padded & balconette bras each have their own row:D

*Waits for someone to fiercely disagree with me because they have long hair scraped back in a bun*I cut my shoulder-length hair off as I realised I hate in hanging over my face and nearly always had it tied up, so what was the point? Love love love the freedom of short hair, plus it suits me.
Haven't kondo'd anything today bar the recycling materials, but enjoying keeping up with reading about everyone's activities. It's an interesting journey, this kondo malarkey, isn't it?:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
