Love the incupboard notice board idea and may have yo borrow that

if you search kitchen command centre on pinterest you'll find all sorts of ideas. Key hooks and chalk or dry erase boards for running shopping lists seem to be common.

There are some great kitchen storage hacks there which I hope to make use of when I attack the kitchen. Things like

I am going to get rid of my pin board (which is only used to display sentimental clutter), and plan on recycling the cork to make a 'command center' inside one of my kitchen cupboards. Something like this...

    cork-kitchen-recipe-board-i.jpg

This will give me space to post our menu plan etc. without it making the kitchen look cluttered. I need to buy some no more nails and borrow some clamps from FIL to make this happen.

I'm going to pinch that idea. My meal plan is on the side of the microwave with a fridge magnet. In fact I might even banish all fridge magnets and until I have something more permanent a bit of bluetack inside a cupboard door will do.:)

:T to reclaiming some work/life balance and storing school stuff at school.

I made a start on the fabric stash and other assorted bits in the cupboard. A pile of stuff went to the bin, some to CS box and some to keep but also found paperwork in there from when I was an Executor years ago and estates long settled. Will need careful sorting and some shredding but that's for another day.

That's what I do. Because to sit them 'the right way up' and get irritated every time each end catches when you shut the drawer would be really silly, wouldn't it :o .

Off to look at kitchen command centres :T.

:T Oh wow to that idea of putting the pin board on the inside of the cupboard door. My pinboard is on a tiny bit of wall between the door and a cupboard and annoys me, but I had passed up on kondo-ing it because it serves a useful purpose and there was nowhere better to put it.

It was just a cheapy from a bootsale so I will have no problem about taking the cork out of the frame, and trimming it to fit the cupboard. In fact, I think I will halve the cork and have two, smallerin-cupboard pinboards. Actually, Mum's kitchen pinboard is on the inside of her pantry door, why didn't I think of doing that?

What a fabulous idea, thanks for sharing it.

I already have a couple of things on the inside of my baking supplies cupboard door. One is a conversion list of weights and measures and another is a plastic sleeve holding a list, on card, of the spices and herbs. You can just glance at it to see what you've got, or grab it and take it to the shops. I made it as I was frustrated at cooking new recipes, getting part the way through and finding I was missing some seasoning and having to run out to the shops.

:o I am giving serious consideration to getting rid of the bathroom bin. It's one of those small cylindrical pedal bins, with the domed lid. I don't tend to use it. I have a pretty minimal personal care routine which doesn't tend to produce fallout, plus things like empty bottles and toilet roll tubes go straight into the recycling. It's only 3 steps from my bathroom to my kitchen bin, so I tend to use that for the very rare thing which I would put in the bathroom bin. In fact, I could probably say I would need to empty the bathroom bin about once a year.

Doing without one seems a little risque so I think I will store it in the shed for a few months, with a note in my diary that if I haven't missed it, it can be donated (is reasonably new and in excellent condition, was a gift).

  • Ha, I lay in the bath the other day thinking just that, Greyqueen - I hate emptying the bathroom bin so I never use it - I step round the corner into the bedroom and put whatever it is in there! It's mainly for visitors.

You've just given me another fantastic tip though, I do a lot of baking and have a lot (30+) of baking tins. I keep a list on the cupboard door of the various sizes and shapes so I know e.g. if the recipe says 11" x 9", I've got an 11" x 8" and that will do. But I have to bend down to read it ... first job of the day, find a plastic sleeve!

Isn't it amazing that the corkboard thing is a revelation to so many of us, I'm off to Pinterest to do some research.

I have long hair! I love the versatility of being able to put it up or wear it down depending on what I am doing - 'scraping back' Is a whole different thing.........done when I am gardening or certain household chores or swimming or sometimes at work when feel I am in danger of having it pulled

Pavlovs - I get into work about hour an half early 4 days a week and have 2 'late' nights every week - started doing this a couple of years ago as I was resenting how much I had to bring home. It means weekends are pretty much free. Fridays I arrive 'on time' and leave 10 mins after the mad frogs have left :D and we are fortunate to have 'work at home days' every other Friday.........it keeps us sane! However I do do a couple of days during summer break - usually during the first week whilst still have the momentum ;) A lot of the clutter I have at home is currently boxed up and marked 'school' and I am going to be taking a box or 2 every week and leaving it there!!

Morning konverts :D So many great ideas love the corkboard in the cupboard. How very Kondo :D I kondoed my bathroom bin as it just got on my nerves. Now just a few steps to bedroom bin :D

Bras I also have bigger boobs( 32ff )Seems a lot of us do on this thread how strange ;) Mine are folded with the straps in the cups but wont 'file' in the drawer as its too shallow. So I need smaller boobs or deeper drawers :rotfl:To follow kondo to the letter. So they will just have to relax :) flat in the drawer and like it ;) Sports bras mine have no wires so they are rolled down the middle of the sports drawer with shorts rolled on one side of them and tops rolled on the other :o Oh god I sound so sad :rotfl:

I love the poem Vjs mum :D and Judi sounds like you had a needed spend there ;)

My bag I have looked at it and put it over my shoulder and just thought no way my back hurt just doing that it just hangs so low. I could maybe have the strap shortened or tie a knot in it.But I dont like it enough to bother. So am watching one a bit smaller than mine on E*ay depending on what sort of price it makes I will decide from there if its worth selling ;) But it will be kondoed either way.

Does sound like your gifted one iTwin its:mad: so annoying to open and you have to faff about for ages and mine hangs so low I cant even reach it  without leaning it on the checkout :rotfl:What was I thinking when I spent my hard earnt money on this 'treat' :( Must have been having a bad day :rotfl:Maybe the wrong length sleeves were worn that day :D

Sorry I am rambling as normal. The last of the trash and treasure bags will be out of the house later so that will be a bonus. just need to nip out and get some wine for the good (well I think) treasure :)

I have an idea brewing and am going to start working on it after the fete so plan to follow once I get it straight in my head ;)

Checked my Family Circle Mixer Cook book but no luck with pecan cake. Book is more than 40 years old but used regularly - made same biscuits yesterday with DGD3 as I made years ago with my own daughter who has just reached the big40 herself.
I love the poem What is this life. It was one of my mums favourites and was read at her funeral a couple of years ago. She was almost 97 and the poem was very much the essence of her. A very busy person all her life but she would always stop to look at flowers, animals, babies and small children and nature generally.
Not much kondoing here as have small visitor and off on holiday again Saturday. I did buy some new bras but some a little tight so need to kondo some more weight post holiday. Weight loss very slow but going in right direction most of the time and I feel so much better without the 1.5 stone I have lost so far. The bathroom cupboard where children's things are is calling to me for some recycled fruit punnets.
