Hi long time lurker here! I originally found out about kon Marie through the folding technique, and found this page, and read a while was very inspired,so had a thorough de clutter! Did my drawers etc. I used to have a clear out every so often anyway, and have found the km way very useful. I am now coming back and have just read a year's worth of posts!!
I have been off and have had a serious kon do of my husbands stuff, plus old phones and leads for who knows what!
Grandsons room has new bed so redid the airing cupboard, got rid of single size bedding.
    After reading about coats,don't ask how many I had:eek::eek: I kondoed 6 !
Today have been to town and bought box for batteries, which will also house my tea lights.and 2 trays to put under my toasters plus a fabric box for my tea towels all from pound store.
I must say since doing this I am much less likely to buy things ,and am going to let dds know to only buy consumables for Xmas !
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.

    That's so cute :D

juliebunny so sorry to hear about your former colleague. It really makes us take stock of our lives when we hear news like that of someone we know ((HUGS))

Fen1 I've been there, and we still have a lot of things that were bought because they would "do for now" and can't yet be replaced. I really like GreyQueen's suggestions and hope you do too :)

Mav I can't believe you sold your OH's CDs  :rotfl:

My Kondo-ing seems to have come to a halt atm (I'd already typed this bit, but my laptop decided to Kondo it for me :( ) as I've been short of energy, but I'm managing to get one or two books to the hospice shop fairly regularly so all is not lost :)

My clothes are a problem. I 've put back on lots of weight due to various health issues, but it's my skinny clothes that I like. It will be a long time before I get back into them, unfortunately.

Personally i'd prefer 5 dresses that fit, look good on me and hang nicely in the wardrobe to a wardrobe full to the brim of stuff that either doesnt fit, doesnt suit or isnt the right colour and where you have to fight to find something you want to wear.

Sally A - looked through my Family Circle books but no luck. I also googled your description but couldn't see anything that seemed to match :( I know Family Circle are also in Australia if that's any help.
It's really annoying when you want a particular recipe and can't find it.

Thanks all for looking for the Family circle chocolate ring cake recipe - maybe I will find it during the declutter - after all I did find a Mutton Stew recipe with an offer for a 65/- car coat on the back.

Had a very productive weekend and never updated.
Went through all my clothes, have got rid of anything that does not fit and also found some stuff I have been looking for.

Have also shortened the legs of 2 pairs of suit trousers so I can wear the suits, they have been waiting for this for 8 years since a very bad back prevented me ever wearing heels again.

Also got rid of some servicable but aged boots. Wierdly all brown!

Not sure what area of house to attack next but am delighted with CS bag and rubbish bag on their way out of the house.

Couldn't agree more Judi. I love being able to go to my wardrobe and be able to wear the first thing I pick up, it's very liberating. Ive developed a real passion for CS shopping. It gives me such a thrill to buy something for a fraction of the price. Yes I've made some mistakes, but then I just donate it back. It's recycling at its best.

Although I have to confess to buying two dresses yesterday for £11.98 that I will need to slim down to wear. As far as I'm concerned they are a carrot to lose some weight in time for two special occasions. But if not I will be at the CSs. I find it difficult to buy full price clothes now and even made myself pyjama bottoms out of a curtain the other day :rotfl:

Fen I just wanted to send a hug. It is hard when you don't feel joy in your things. Like Grey Queen has said sometimes trying to see the good in your stuff helps.

I also have issues with being bigger than I would like and my clothes don't bring me joy when I wear them. I decided to try to make myself feel better about myself and my stuff.

I sorted through my clothes like everyone else and then started to put them all together with make up and accessories that I never wore. I have even started blowing my hair. I probably don't look that much better but I do feel it.

Because I feel better about myself, I feel better about my surroundings and feel more able to let unnecessary possessions go to a new home. This is rubbing off on the family and everything seems more positive.

    Hope this helps.

Don't suppose you have an old Family Circle magazine with a Christmas chocolate fruit cake baked in a ring tin, pecans go into the tin, so they are on top of the cake? Probably pre 2000.

Have been searching for this for 5+ years.:xmassmile

I Googled chocolate pecan ring cake and saw quite a few recipes.

  • Up early today so I'm going to try to get to the CS for 9 - it's nigh on impossible to park outside, while I didn't mind lugging bags of clothes round from the nearest car park, now I've moved on to kitchen stuff it's a lot heavier and harder to carry.

I wish I'd recorded the number of bags and boxes- the sheer volume of Stuff leaving the house is amazing. Today's haul includes eight mugs, 10 glass ramekins (free with posh puddings) and three whisky glasses. I do drink whisky :) but it tastes just as good from a tumbler.

My niece is visiting tomorrow night. All I need to do to make the room ready is make the bed. I can't tell you how unusual that is! (But I think you'll understand). :)
