Don't suppose you have an old Family Circle magazine with a Christmas chocolate fruit cake baked in a ring tin, pecans go into the tin, so they are on top of the cake? Probably pre 2000.
Have been searching for this for 5+ years.:xmassmile
Couldn't you experiment with different recipes?
On the downside, it might take you a while to find the right mix
On the upside - you still get cake :T
Edit, here is nigellas Christmas choc fruit cake

Judi - I've grown my hair long and I do pull it back but only when I'm sailing or working in the garden!
Theres a time and place for everything. Sailing and gardening definitely is one of those times when you need your hair pulled back off your face. I come from a family where the women scraped their hair back for every occasion.... not a flattering look when your 6 stone wet through with buck teeth.... and i'm mentioning no names.:D
Pavlogs dog i love the idea of the bags on a roll. I could free up quite a bit of space if i could adopt that method..
I dont have a bathroom bin either. My bathroom is downstairs and its not too much effort to throw used cotton buds/empty bottles in the kitchen bin.
Bin day tomorrow. Need to start collecting and organizing the junk thats scattered around. I seem to be the only person in this house that actually chucks stuff away.:mad:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Today is bin day (I know, exciting isn't it), so yesterday I grabbed a bag to try to fill it.
I am running out of rubbish folks :T. It has gone, barely half full after two weeks. At the last minute I emptied two box files of old college notes and recycled the paper and binned the (rather tatty) box files.
Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of stuff to go to recycling, and still some stuff to sort through - but this is progress.
And I made a snap decision on the notes in order to get stuff to the bin - I haven't looked at them for years and they will be out of date.
Today I am working at home, but also chalk painting DDs chest of drawers, she is coming home for a month the week after next so I want her room done and finally finished while it is empty.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

This sounds like a Deep south American cake Sally. Even more so as Family Circle is American. Try the USA website.0 -
Hav'n't managed to get DH on board yet - but slowly slowly - drop the idea in the pool to let it ripple out
I've just remembered he has a file in the bottom of his wardrobe with all the paperwork I did after MiL died. Paperwork is definitely NOT his forte so I'll just check it and shred it 'cos I know its not been touched for 7 years! He won't notice
Not much Kondoing today as I'm planning a baking session. Cleared out all my cookware a few years ago and just kept the joyful pieces and replaced old bits with lovely heavy stuff from TKM - I do love a baking sheet that doesn't twist when it's heated - small pleasures
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
This Kon Marie is spreading - my mum will be coming to stay with us the week after we move - she's 85 next week and seems to be struggling with organising things lately. I told her to make a list of things she wants to buy and places she would ike to visit - number one on her list? A large filing box for all her paperwork, bills etc! So I've told her to gather up every shred of paper, starting NOW, and bring it with her - I will make a filing system with her help. She also wants to buy some clothes - now she has more stuffed in her wardrobes than Imelda Marcos! :rotfl: So we need to get that in hand - I suggested she goes through her clothes now and I can CS them for her - she hasn't got a car now. I also told her we are going to be critical of clothes buying for us both, and only buy clothes that are 'joyful' - I'm not sure if she thinks I've lost my marbles or not!
As for me - the packing has started in earnest - I'm just going through the food cupboards and packing things - nowhere near as much as there would have been a year or so ago - although I have the help of a beagle boy, who thinks it's funny to steal packets of rice and pasta so I have to go and get them back - for a biscuit! Not daft, these beagles!
Hope everyone has a good day - I might reward myself with a chapter or two from the book later! All work and no play, and all that!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
:heart2: RIP Clio 1.9.93 - 7.4.10 :heart2:I WILL be tidy, I WILL be tidy!

Doing without one seems a little risque so I think I will store it in the shed for a few months, with a note in my diary that if I haven't missed it, it can be donated (is reasonably new and in excellent condition, was a gift).
I think that's a technique I'm adopting. Although I'm getting increasingly brave, if I'm not sure about something I'm putting it to one side and then revisiting. Is this a common step in MK?Hav'n't managed to get DH on board yet - but slowly slowly - drop the idea in the pool to let it ripple outI've just remembered he has a file in the bottom of his wardrobe with all the paperwork I did after MiL died. My DH has been pretty good with his clothes. Not folding but at least getting rid. If he knows I've got a bag/box destined for CS it inspires him. I've found the odd few papers that I've confronted him with and almost stood over him while he sorts. However books, CDs, prints, maps.......I'm not holding my breath.
Don't anticipate kondoing happening today. I'm off to take some lounging trousers back to TKMaxx, they're too big and don't bring enough joy and date on receipt runs out this week. I use TKM for bras. I got myself measured properly at an expensive independent so now I know my proper size I look out for it. Trying on is essential though.0 -
Furniture next.:D
You jest - but it has already begun  2 Swedish store armchairs donated to a friend with an empty house and I am working on a shelving unit in the office.
So i have started painting up DD's furniture. I went to select some painting clothes - and couldn't find any old t shirts I was willing to let go :T, I put on about 3 thinking "that'll do" but when i looked in the mirror, I decided that they looked nice and could stay.
never fear though - I found a "dyed in the wash" shirt of OH's that I have vicariously Kondoed:pI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

I finally admitted that I don't work very well at home, so I'm sending all of my school stuff back to my classroom. This alone has got rid of a huge stack of books etc. I have also further purged stationery and I'll be taking a lot into school. My new school year resolution is to bring as little work home with me as possible in a bid to improve my work/life balance. We'll see how that pans out. VJsmum - your poem struck a chord
Another bag of paper has been shredded and has gone out for the recycling collection tomorrow.
I've purged my recipe folder and it is now a fraction of its original size. I tend to cook by instinct/experience. It is very rare for me to follow a recipe unless I am baking. I don't need recipes for dishes I cook on autopilot! I also purged my Christmas magazine collection, keeping just a handful of cutouts instead of the whole pile.
I am going to get rid of my pin board (which is only used to display sentimental clutter), and plan on recycling the cork to make a 'command center' inside one of my kitchen cupboards. Something like this...
This will give me space to post our menu plan etc. without it making the kitchen look cluttered. I need to buy some no more nails and borrow some clamps from FIL to make this happen.
I've decided that the floor lamp which I never use can be added to my list of things to rehome via Gumtree. I suspect the desk lamp may meet a similar fate.
I wish I had found my ruthless streak .... still battling with the paper, and starting to loose the will to preserve
Anyway, I like this idea ^^^ You can buy some pretty decent self adhesive cork tiles from the likes of Amazon, so can do away with the no more nails and clampsSmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...
..one size fits all... and nobody minds if you give it back.☆.。.:*・° Housework is so much easier without the clutter ☆.。.:*・°SPC No. 5180
