Mavvymoo, I'm impressed! I have pruned my clothes once and know they need another going-over but I'm waiting to see how I feel after the summer. I don't think I could be as ruthless as you though.
I had my colours done about twenty-five years ago, can't remember if I had a 'season' but I Still have the swatch so I might get it out and see how it compares to my current wardrobe. One thing I know is that black doesn't suit me - unfortunately I have to wear it for work - and that cream suits my very pale skin better than white. I'd forgotten about it till this discussion began.
I'm all in favour of getting professional help if you can afford it. Using personal shopper services is a great way to get free advice, most big stores offer them and there's no obligation to buy stuff.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

Not necessarily for everyone, but interesting none the lessI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
I've cleared out approx 1/3rd of the back room/utility room/junk room...wow it feels so good. I'm on my third day now but at least I know what I've got and where it is. The recycling crew will be aghast at the bottles of booze in the bin, these had an inch left in the bottom, if that and were well past their best by date.
I've still got some untouched shelves that I'm looking forward to tackling.
I know books and clothes will be harder....oh, and I've got a stumbling block over a large collection of cassettes.
This room is only 11ft x 4ft - but it was the dumping ground for everything.
I may not be the quickest, but I am being ruthless, by my standards and thorough.0 -

Got a Kondo bargain today in Sainsos. Stopped in for milk but was taking a cheeky browse of the sale rack and found a pair of skinny trousers. Normally a style I steer clear of, but thought they'd go well under the new tunic from last week. They were £16 with a half price sticker. Figured that was already a good price to complete a joyful outfit, so took them to the register and they scanned at £4! :j
Tried them on this evening, they fit perfectly and do look lovely with the tunic. They're a super comfortable knit too, almost like wearing leggings!
I did well today in BHS! Was looking around and spotted a jumpsuit that I thought might be long enough (I have long legs), ticket said reduced from £28 to £14. Tried on and it fits and felt lovely- perfect bargain for my hols. Especially when it then rang through the till at £8 !!! Happy Days!Bossymoo

Have been very neglectful of MK this weekend due to RL. So - plan is to re-read a chapter before bed so it can re-motivate me for the morning! I'm working from home tomorrow so don't have to get up as early. But - I have now decided to get up at the usual time and take an extra hour to Kondo. Here's hoping my menopause brain symptoms don't make me forget!Looking ahead0

Having tackled the bathroom cupboard yesterday ( just a couple of things to sort in there now - a tidy box of toiletries - just waiting for the 'right box/basket' to make itself know in a KM sort of way) It led on to our hanging space for clothes - twice I have moved the clothes ,plonked on bed to sort and then having got distracted, returned at bedtime only to have to plonk on floor...........................so I have brought it all down stairs taken it off hangers and piled it up in categories - OMG:eek: I truly thought I had been ruthless the first time. I am going to tackle trousers first and have re hung them on a rail on individual hangers so I can have a good look and find those that spark joy. I can already see 2 pairs still with tags on:o and 2 pairs that are identical - brand, size, colour, style !!!!!!???:o:o I have way too many tunic tops and why so many check shirts? But no animal print, water melon, turquoise of salmon so thats fine;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Morning all, well impressed at how well everyone is doing, and chuckling at the image of predatory pensioners prowling the cruise liners like antiquated Bet Lynches in leopard print...........:rotfl:
Have to say, animal prints have not been me since a couple of pairs of very ill-advised leopard print jeans in the late seventies. In my defense, m'lud, I was still a teenager and getting used to choosing my own duds. The photographic evidence has mostly been located and destroyed by now. Da witnesses are sleeping wiv da fishes.
Yestereve, I stayed offline as I had a real page-turner of a book to finish. It's one which I will be getting a chance to return to its owner this Friday, so I wanted to finish it. I also started the final book from the 6 for £1 deal on the late May bank holiday weekend bootsale, and then that can be donated. So, it was sort-of decluttering, wasn't it?
Am at the point where the largest lumps of carp have been heaved off the premises and what's left are smaller, less obvious things, or things awaiting action, such as being read, before being re-homed.
I still feel that I have too much in some categories of consumable items, but consuming is taking that down naturally. I have halved the toilet-toll inventory, for example...........:rotfl:
I'm sure I will be re-visited the clothes again sooner or later, but my mojo isn't with that category right now. Keep up the good work, kondo-ites old and new. GQ xEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
