Thanks mrs money-penny, I have read (and watched on YouTube) so much about this method that I think it's affecting me mentally! The local cs is starting to get accustomed to my face...but I have found quite a few lovely things while kondoing which I'd totally forgotten. Also found a few awful things and decided to get rid; the only question being, why did I keep them so long in the first place?
Anyone else struggling to differentiate between "this brings me joy" and "I'm quite willing to wear/use/read this" or is it just me?
    MsB x
  • It gets easier with time, I think that's why she says start with clothes because most of us have a clear idea of what we really like wearing and what we don't feel good in.

That said, some things aren't really 'joyful', they're just necessary. I bet you've got some favourite clothes, though - handle them, and then compare how you feel about some of the others. I'm not mad about my everyday black trousers, but I need them and they do the job so they made the first cut.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

Hello Ms B. Yes I have same problem so I have to be really ruthless and set myself targets - Every T shirt kept - 2 have to go that sort of thing!
I'm not mad about my everyday black trousers, but I need them and they do the job so they made the first cut.

Yep I have a works clothes pile which doesnt bring me any joy but its needs must. I can get covered in all sorts or my clothes even torn during the course of a day so I tend to wear easy wash black cotton M&S trousers and a range of tops/shirts/tunics depending on the season. I often ditch the lot at the end of the school year relegating to CS/ gardening/messy clothes! Just done that and got my M&S vouchers from Oxf*m to go towards to my next lot of trousers:rotfl:

Dropped off large bag at CS today. I t was very busy but I guess it was a Monday morning. Resisted the urge to buy anything - not even a book:) Shop manager greeted me with a smile and suggested they were in need of a 'restock':rotfl: They had a whole rail dedicated to the animal print look - made me smile. I told manager that I was following something on line where there had been much discussion about colour/animal print/boho styles. She laughed and said they had put this collection together as they were getting requests mainly from, as she put it."predatory old age pensioners who frequent cruise ships":D:eek:

Agree with Pollywolly. My pants don't bring me joy :rotfl: but they do the job better than many others :rotfl: However, without them the rest of my clothes would not be joyful. And now they are kondoed I can see that I've got loads so am gradually confidently ditching the tight, old or worn ones.

The main point is that, having ditched the definite unjoyfuls, it is easier to see what you like to wear. And for me it means that I don't buy unjoyful clothes any longer because they'll only be clutter. Ive still got a few essential utility clothes, but when I replace them it will be with joyfuls.

Not sure if that makes sense, but I know what I mean :D. I also feel the same 'why did I keep them so long?' - about all the carp in my life. Frightened I'd regret ditching it I guess, but the result is far from it :)

    Happy KMing all :)

Got a Kondo bargain today in Sainsos. Stopped in for milk but was taking a cheeky browse of the sale rack and found a pair of skinny trousers. Normally a style I steer clear of, but thought they'd go well under the new tunic from last week. They were £16 with a half price sticker. Figured that was already a good price to complete a joyful outfit, so took them to the register and they scanned at £4! :j

Tried them on this evening, they fit perfectly and do look lovely with the tunic. They're a super comfortable knit too, almost like wearing leggings!

Edited to say just read skinny jeans are out :rotfl:For all you wanna be Boho (ites) and flares are in :D Bring on the Bay City Rollers I say ;)

Who wore, as they were known up here at the time "cat's deid troosers". Translated for those south of the border as "cat's dead trousers" - ie your trousers were at half mast so you must have been in mourning for the cat ...
(Probably loses something in the translation LOL)
    Looking ahead

None of the 20 somethings in my office (I work in a company of around 200, and the average age feels about 26!) have gotten this memo yet! It's still a parade of skinny jeans.
  • Evening all - just caught up as for some reason the thread wouldn't load earlier. Sorry Iqueen - I am the wrong one to praise for staying on thread - I was the naughty one that started the CMB pondering. My appt is a week this Friday so will hopefully have more idea when Mavvymoo lets us know how she got on this week.

Have had a good day today - DH being at home has kept me on task!! Loads of paperwork sorted but loads and loads more to do!!

Welcome MsB - in no time you'll be feeling like a different person - I have done only a small portion of my kondo needs but am so HAPPY!!!
