Thanks LL and Bossymoo!! I'd never thought of pinterest. Boho seems such a difficult trick to pull off successfully. I'm not the wraith-like type so tend not to go for anything too clingy in any case. And I'm scared to bits of leopard print for the same, Bet Lynch reason!

At home I don't mind so much - I'm happy to try different things and if they don't work I chalk it up to experience but work's a pain. I need to look reasonably smart (although not necessarily a suit) and it needs to be easy to look after and still look professional. I think I've hit on a plan with the long skirts. They just give a different look even if they're a plain colour as long as they're nicely shaped and whichever top goes with them skims rather than clings. Plus they're great in the winter as they hide a multitude of sins along with leggings and knee length boots! LOL
Bossymoo - I've a friend who's in a fairly high powered job - has to wear business wear all the time and has the same issues. She (so she tells me) wears fairly raunchy underwear to give her the feeling of being a rebel even while having to conform to office wear. Worth a try?

Well I dont know where my sudden burst of energy came from but I have been tackling the long put off job - re organising the large walk in bathroom cupboard after we had the major work done on the ongoing house project.............work finished in May/June and I have been putting it off ever since. I have had work commitments and a couple of bouts of ill health but I think the real reason is that space/shelving in the lovely walk in bathroom cupboard has been reduced so what came out was never going to go back in, even though I had kondoed as I cleared it out! Anyway have got rid of more towels and bedding a bag full of part used toiletries - I had to be brave because I dont like waste but this lot were past their best and mostly bought and then discovered to be a mistake,in the first place! Some unopened stuff I have put in the CS bag and others on Fr**gle. Have recycled lots of boxes/packaging/plastic bottles and finally binned a lipstick, lip brush and mascara that belonged to my mother who died more than 20 years ago  And here is the weird thing........I dont wear make up - not a scrap. Never have.............and neither did she but this little case with 3 items was seen in her possession so maybe she did occasionally and I just didnt notice!! Anyway all gone now with a 'sorry and good bye' :)

Now this cupboard is almost under control I can now tackle bedroom again as the cupboard links the 2 rooms. The other end of the cupboard has a door which opens up behind where we hang our clothes ( dont have a wardrobe as ceiling slopes down to the floor so no real height - clothes hang on a rail fixed behind a beam at head height!) Our children always refer to the bathroom cupboard as the Narnia cupboard for obvious reasons. I am hoping that once I have gone through clothes again we might be able to see the little door behind!

I'm still in the back room, have given hubby all the light bulbs to label with a sharpie for the room they are intended, all duff lightbulbs (Great Mills 27p?) can be binned.

Also went thought the batteries...reckon I've dumped 80% into the recycling as out of date by at least 2 years.

The family always had a pop at me as I was so untidy....they are now very, VERY twitchy!! :-)

Great idea, Susan! Go for it. :j

If I can make it work at almost 70 and being overweight, I'm sure you can pull it off! Start gently, and keep developing, until you feel spot-on (or retire and can become a Wild Thing!) :rotfl:

I found ideas on P1nterest (eg: boho fashion, older B, B style clothes etc) - from classic smart casual to downright wacky! I'm going for something in between: traditional flowy shapes, with light touches of eccentricity! I shall definitely be avoiding the 'cluttered ethnic' look... I have learned something from kondoing! ;)

    Peace and Love. :)
Well I think it'll have to be developing for a while as I can't retire for at least ten years
But I'm definitely ready for "light touches of eccentricity"! I'm too busty to manage the cluttered look but have an idea or two about a simpler version of ethnic - E*ay sell abaya quite reasonably - that's the long dresses or coats that Arabic women wear. Now some are way over the top - embroidery, sequins, you name it. But I've seen a couple with just nice clean lines - in gorgeous, but plain, colours - plum, navy, teal - floor length and with a swirl to the skirt part. I think that one of those with a pretty cardigan and funky jewellery would do the trick. I already have the eccentric necklaces and Kipling bags to jazz it up ...?

Light bulbs............recycle or put on Fr**gle. Not good for land fill:eek: We cant put light bulbs in our general waste...or are not supposed too, even dead ones. There are people out there who collect light bulbs as a hobby. I have even sold some old ones that came out of my grandparents house on Eb*Y!

I managed to kondo one makeup palette and 4 singles. The other three are sitting there waiting to be used. The colours are so vibrant and beautiful and i'm struggling to let go.... makeup is something i can hide behind when i'm feeling not so confident... not so good.

    I dont like getting old.

Haha Pinterest will take over your life ;) but then you will need to kondo your pins :rotfl: the mind boggles.

So the top of my cupboard in the spare room is full of vacuum packed bedding. The opening gap is smaller than the space inside - I have visions of the storage bags failing and all filling with air, and wedging all the contents in solid :rotfl: or bursting out on an unsuspecting guest

Another unjoyful top on the CS pile today, along with some boys coats and an unwanted rucksack.

Huge pile of unwanted bedding to donate too. I have a day to myself tomorrow so can head out and deliver to the right places. I'm also going to choose something joyful for DS for his holibobs.

Re work - liking the idea of full length skirts and shorter jackets. I had a gorgeous plum coloured velvet cord skirt, ankle length and slightly a-line with a lace up fastening in leather cord. I kondoed it for various reasons, but it had been well worn and loved for at least a decade. might keep a look out for something equally luscious:)

I have brought down my little box of letters from the attic. The letters are about 20 years old, from just before internet, and were sent to me by penpals after summercamps, friends and family when I was au pair, and friends at uni. I have allowed myself the time to read through them, and decide after each letter whether to chuck or keep. I have chucked 34 so far, and kept 1. I allow myself the time to remember, to chat about them to dh, and then decide. The letters are a joy to read, but not to store, and as this is the first time in 20 years that I'm re-reading them, they can go. The paper recycling curbside pickup won't be for another month, so I can always change my mind, but I don't think that I will.

Honestly Bossymoo long skirts are amazing. They can look really smart but different enough to let you stand out a little. Your plum coloured skirt sounds perfect. Per Una do a lot of ankle/floor length skirts and as long as it was structured rather than floaty, it would probably fit the work's dress code? Probably just imagination but I also find that I stand taller and straighter wearing them - they seem to need a better posture than trousers ...?
