No wonder I keep getting drawn back to my clothes - I'm not that woman any more!
FYI, I may not be quite so daring as many of the boho women on P*nterest, but I will be me.
NB Kondoing will not allow me to go for cluttered Boho, you'll be glad to know! :rotfl:
A quick de-lurk to say - what an inspiring post :T.
I have Kondo'd on a very small scale so far. I plan to get back to it because I want the kind of transformation you all are experiencing.
My only slight worry is that I might end up Kondo-ing OH as well :rotfl:.0 -
Have virtually come to a halt this past week due to RL. Anyway, back on the horse! Shredding a load of old paperwork in between typing!Looking ahead0

It's so interesting reading everyones posts about new styles and re - visiting clothing categories. I've said before that I am finsing some clothes the hardest category by far.
I've done all papework except DH's self-emplt stuff which, tbh, is pretty much in order, just needs better storing; done kitchenalia (except cookbooks which have not got too out of hand since I weeded them a couple of years ago);, ornaments are done although may re-visit; various small sub-categories of clothing such as bags, shoes, scarves are done, and of course the tool box is looking sooooo neat and tidy.
i Kottered again today due to being tired from v.long day yester. Enjoyed doing a couple of days' worth of filing household admin, re-visited cutlery drawer because I was being nagged by it and sure enough, there were 3 things that have been thanked and are being set free. Sewing kit Kondo'd. Finally I caught up on some phonecalls I needed to make and then Kondo'd some fruit into a lovely fruit salad.
Failed to kondo a stain from white t-shirt!!No idea what substance is but
blimey it's stubborn, maybe rust? ) **** Must search t'internet for stain removal tips ****
So, IQuuen and Mav, I reckon you are onto something with the 'change of style' theory re clothes. I am still avoiding tackling the big clothing categories and think that you may have hit the nail on the head. The last 3 years have seen big changes to our life and I am in a bit of limbo atm with regard to work - we are expecting redundancies to be announced soon and I think that is also holding me back - the uncertainty.
But, as you suggest, I also think I have lost my way with regard to what style I want to adopt. This may also relate to the prev discussed philosophy of 'making do'....
anyway, the journey is going well, if a bit slower than I had hoped and I still get joy when I open my Kondo'd kitchen cupboards etc :T :T MI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
If a tee sparks joy but has gone baggy round the bottom, run some elastic through the bottom hem and turn it into a 'bubble top'.
Errrrm... there's a reason that my tees get baggy round the bottom - it's my spare tyre that causes the 'bubble top' in the first place! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:peaceandfreedom wrote: »A quick de-lurk to say - what an inspiring post :T.

According to the MK Bible, someone's already done that, together with a Konvert on another thread that I read! If you don't use it, it doesn't fit, or it doesn't spark joy... bin it! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
QUOTE Siebrie
Whenever I kondo (it's my natural way of clearing up) I find that I 'ban' items from certain parts of the house, but they may not have a new home yet. I put the items out of the way, in temporary accomodation, and let the problem stew in the back of my mind. Then, out of nowhere, I will suddenly know what would be the perfect place for that item.
For instance, today dh and I cleared the garage. All 'house' items were banned from the garage and are now in my kitchen cupboard. They are not in the way, and when I have time and energy, I will put them in their proper place, or find a proper place for them. Patience and trusting my subconscious are a big part of clearing and filing for me. QUOTE
Hey, mav! From the quote above, Siebrie has natural woo. We have another member of the Koven!Needs, NOT wants!

Another fab idea! I have plans to do some sewing-work on some skirts which flap about my ankles too much and actually I can't walk in them properly.
Loving the t-shirt idea, they would cover up my (hopefully temporary) muffin-top as well.

Yes, I read that in the book, I think that's what's stuck with me the most :rotfl:. OH certainly ain't sparking too much joy right now.
I'll practice by Kondo-ing everything else first and then see if I've got the wherewithal to start Kondo-ing people.

I have a temporary muffin-top too. Need to Kondo asap as it doesn't spark joy, lol.
Busy day however a bag of clothes previously Kondoed left the house and also sent a couple of spiders who were lurking in the box of things I'm collecting for the village fete on their merry way.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -

Quite a lot of us 'old' Konverts have kondoed people!
I've kondoed 2 husbands, and a friend of 65 years - yes, it took me that long to realise that she wasn't sparking enough joy, in fact, quite the reverse!
I've also kondoed the emotions attached to some relationships, which I don't want to end. An incredible burden shifted! :jNeeds, NOT wants!
