Revisited summer tops today, it's been nagging me. Especially as I took some unjoyful ones on hols. Only one or two. As I looked at the drawer (half) ful that I left behind, I just thought "but what I really want to wear are (most) of the ones in my suitcase.

Another 5 have gone, plus the two or three in my case. Interestingly, the ones I have gotten rid of are either ebay buys or charity shop "bargains". There is a lesson there....

I still got immense pleasure from opening my beautifully packed very small suitcase, though :p

I've finished reading the book :j. So today I KM "my clothes" :j I've folder my underwear, nightwear, socks, t-shirts & jumpers. I do love the free space in my wardrobe but I don't know if I like my jumpers & t-shirts folded. Anyone else feel the same?

Yes, I can't seem to get the hang (so to speak,!) of folding t-shirts and fine-knit jumpers without them coming out creased.

Chunky-knit jumpers are all right folded, but the rest is hung in the wardrobe :)

Hi everyone, been awol while DS1 moved into his new flat and gets ready to start work on the 28th. Anyway, I'm now on leave for a whole week and so excited that I can get stuck into kondoing:j

I've already done most of my clothes when I got rid of the bedroom furniture, just nightwear, shoes, bags, scarves and jewellery to do. Then on with the rest. DS2 is working all week so will have the house to myself!

Looking forward to Monday - for a change:rotfl:

Hi everyone - I've recently started de cluttering my stuff at home - whilst I've got 7 weeks off work for the college holidays I decided I needed to have a clear out.

I'm 2 weeks into the break and have made a good start - car load of clothing and clutter plus 2 old sky boxes and a DVD recorder box to the dog rescue for their charity shops.

The better and new clothes are on eBay - prefect timing for ebay sales as time to get to the post office daily as needed. So far I've made £117:j

Loads to go and I asked in both local council libraries but they don't have the book so I ordered it on Amazon last night and it arrived today!

    About to start reading:T

Mr tc has sorted his clothes. He has 2 bags full for charity. :j
Myself and DD2 have sorted all the toiletries out in the bathroom. :o 2 bags full for charity-including toiletry bags, storage boxes etc. 3 bags of now empty bottles, jars etc in recycling a bag of general rubbish and a dozen or so, empty cardboard boxes-from products.
The cupboards are now so tidy and there is loads of space. :j

Karen and Ivyleaf, yes, I agree, I also am finding it difficult to deal with folding/rolling some items.
i find smaller items like undies are fine, nightwear also fine.
am ok with t-shirts being rolled
BUT I can't cope with bulky fleeces, jumpers and leggings. They are just too bulky to fit comfortably into drawers. I've sorted and folded mine a few weeks ago but have already moved them to different drawers once and am still not happy they have found the right place! :(
    any suggestions welcome.

Kondo'd the toolbox yesterday - why oh why did we have nearly 100 washers for the window cleaning pole? (Assume it's because they were sold by the pack of 100 and we only needed 2....). All the most frequently used items are now in the top tray and all bits, bobs and assorted fixings are sorted and coralled in an orderly fashion beneath. :)

This komono was tackled because i got the toolkit out to try and fix the patio cleaner head for our Karch**. The bit that spins underneath was stuck. Having looked on t'internet and found all the replacement parts were costly and, on examination, not the bit that was causing a problem.... I manged to take the central spindle apart, lubricate it and re-build. To my DH's amazment it now works perfectly. I do like mending things and on the basis that if it's already
broken I can't make it any worse, I happily tackle mini projects. :D

Not much Kondo progress in other respects, had that 'one step forward, two steps backward' feeling.... but I am still fired up and planning to get to grips again on Tuesday (paid work tomorrow).

    Chins up everyone!

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

Personally i would rather suffer with dry skin than wear body lotion that i dont like the smell of.... in fact i threw out another bottle of body lotion away yesterday that i hated the smell of. Good job i dont suffer with any medical issues though as i'd be seriously challenged.

If I have body lotion, shampoo, conditioner or similar that I don't like the smell or effect of, I use them for shaving, or cleaning the bathroom, rather than throwing them out. in fact, hair conditioner gives me a far better shave than any proprietary shaving gel :)

iTwin Asked my dad today if I could have an older sister and he looked at me oddly and said not to his knowledge :rotfl:

Maybe not, but it could have been my father, according to my mother! That would make you about a year older than me!

Now I am travelling out of the county I may take you up on that offer (and the skip sounds great) I bet we would have a joyful time and such fun :D Also age is just a number my best friend is 82 years young and some of her stories would make your hair stand on end

I imagine a joint-kondo of my house would be hilarious! The Room of Doom is an Aladdin's Cave (think 26+ years of Calke Abbey)!

:think:Second thoughts - most of the stuff that I'm discarding is perfectly serviceable, for people who need it: perhaps a skip is not eco-correct, but it would draw attention from the neighbours! Actually, it could be even more fun hiring 'A Man With A Van' to deliver discards? And, and... we could take regular breaks, across the road at the Community shop/cafe - they do 'good' coffees and luscious home-made cakes!:rotfl: And, although I'm nearly 12 years younger than your bessie friend, I have a few hair-raising stories of my own, from the Swingin' Sixties, that I haven't even told my children!

Pond looking fab... sounds lovely! Mine used to be lovely with a fabulous water-lily, 3 koi carp, and lots of goldfish breeding, until the local heron got the fish, and the brambles invaded the pond! :(

Also got a right Chazzer shop bargain a lovely Black leather jacket with a bright Red edge it really sparked joy and was only £10  Ooo! Lucky you! I wish...

Going back to T-shirts monday as I am sure there is some non sparking joy ones You just know in a strange way its not right.

Ditto. I keep looking at mine - a) still too many; b) it's the new/hardly worn ones that I don't like; and the old ones are too baggy! [sigh]

I put a top... it will be washed and cut up for dusters :D as its a soft cotton so perfect for that :)Ditto, with mine - more woo. ;)

Great idea for the garden, it will be a lovely tranquil place to be, lessonlearned. :)

Welcome, Sally A! :coffee: Congatulations on the windfall! One of my daughters is a born Konvert, she thoroughly cleans her large house, top to bottom, in 2 hours, every Saturday! (She gets it from her father!) She's also just returned from her annual trip to Florida and resisted all the cheap clothes that usually call to her! :o

mav, chuntering is also a Derbyshire word. :)

ivyleaf and karenccs67, my chunky sweaters (thick, mohair hand-knits) are hung - take up too much space in drawers. All my fine-knits, tee shirts, etc, are 'folded and filed'. Provided you perfect the MK smoothing and folding (watch her video), clothes don't get creased and it gets much quicker with practice. Woven tops (blouses, shirts) may be better hung, if there's space. ;)
