I finally finished Kondoing the livingroom (as a byproduct of deep cleaning.) I found a finger harp I'd bought in a car boot sale and had on display. OH is now tuning it for me so I can enjoy it properly. I have a large bundle of papers to shred and have Kondoed two armfuls of papers to the recycling bin.

But the best part of the day is that it's reminded of how much I do love certain things and those are now prominently displayed where they give me pleasure. My paintings (CS specials!) no longer give me joy in this room but I have plans for them to go to the back room/office once it's decluttered. Instead I've a few paintings I picked up here and there which I love but which aren't "traditional" livingroom material. At least for me, at least till now. But you know something? I'm NOT traditional. I love those paintings and don't give a damn what any visitors might think of them or if they match the "decor". It's about living in a happy space, not just a (occasionally) tidy one!
    Looking ahead

greyqueen you have reminded me that ds1 needs a decent lunchbox with a lid that stays on properly. I probably should bin the cheap ones with useless lids.

A little more progress here today. We are on hols soon so I may not achieve much before we return. Thanks for the on going inspiration everyone!

iTwin Asked my dad today if I could have an older sister and he looked at me oddly and said not to his knowledge :rotfl:

Now I am travelling out of the county I may take you up on that offer (and the skip sounds great) I bet we would have a joyful time and such fun :D Also age is just a number my best friend is 82 years young and some of her stories would make your hair stand on end

Pond looking fab and so proud of what we have done :) Next stage is a bog area boardwalk and it leads to a dipping platform :) Where the kids can pond dip (and Mav as well what fun) I loved doing that when I was a kid in Barking park :)

Also got a right Chazzer shop bargain a lovely Black leather jacket with a bright Red edge it really sparked joy and was only £10

So the jacket I kept as it sort of sparked joy and was the 2nd best one I had has been kondoed into the chazzer bag (yet another one ) Going back to T-shirts monday as I am sure there is some non sparking joy ones in the drawer and I still have too many so in the kondo weird way I am being pulled back there. So will re-visit :) You just know in a strange way its not right.

I put a top on for pond clearing and it didnt spark joy so will wear it tommorow for Chook cleaning and kondoing :rotfl:duties and it will be washed and cut up for dusters :D as its a soft cotton so perfect for that :)

Well done everybody you are all making such a difference to your lives but just may not realise it yet ;)

Well today I had a real Kondo light bulb moment. I'm 64 with Fibro and gardening is becoming such a struggle, so going to rethink the garden.

No more veg - I do like the taste of homegrown but this year im really struggling to,keep on top of things. I'm fed up fighting slugs and blacklfly.

It's my sons garden and I know he won't be bothered with it next year when I move out so IM gojng to go for a much simpler arrangement.

Then when I buy my own house, I shall definitely be going for a JApanese style easy maintenance option.

I do,like the idea of a pond though. I'm sure I could incorporate some water in it somewhere..;)

I do love reading this thread, isnt it amazing how one slim little book has such power to change lives.

OK..you've convinced me...I've ordered the book today from Amazon; even if I save 2 hours a week from tidying and putting "stuff" elsewhere, as opposed to chucking it, I will be a happy bunny.

    Am counting on you MSE-ers!!

Wayheyhey...thought I'd get off to a good start before the book arrives...found £300 cash hidden/stashed, that I'd forgotten where I put it.

Oh my goodness. I managed to find 6 more bags worth of stuff - not 4. Inspired by mum having a clear out, DD2 has sorted out over 7 bags worth of her clothes and shoes! So tonight we trooped off to recycle them. I feel so exhilarated! It's an amazing feeling. :D

Just realised that if I get rid of one unwanted thing every day until my son goes back to school I will have cleared 50 things from the house.

This is not strictly in keeping with the correct method but appeals to me. I am nearly done with paperwork, it has taken such a long time!

Sally I am glad you have joined us and had a woo moment early on without the book :T £300 well done what a great find :)

It will change your life and way of thinking I promise :D You will save more than 2 hours a week more like 2 days :rotfl:

Plan for today is cleaning the chooks out refilling the garden bird feeders as we have the Starlings on mass at the moment :T Had over 40 on the feeders this morning they are so noisy and such thugs but I love them :) I may have to go back to work full time just to keep them in food as they eat everything so fast :rotfl:
I watch them for ages and know some of them by sight now. Maybe I have too much time on my hands but I dont care I like making time for anything I want to do. I always make time now down to MK if its watching starlings or taking telesales calls I enjoy it and it brings me joy :)

So better get on with it rather than sitting here chuntering (Norfolk word I think ) on :rotfl:

Have a great Sunday and make sometime to just stand and watch whats going on sometimes it can surprise you ;)

    :) Well said, mavvy!

At dusk last night, I was reading near my window, looked up at a noise and saw a V of honking geese flying over on their way (presumably) to the marshes down river.

Their ancestors would have flown over this place when it was a Victorian city, a Medieval city, when it was a crossroads on Roman roads, when there was nothing here but lots of marshes and paleolithic hunting camps. The continuity of it amuses me.

I am kottering this morning as slept late after a busy week. Day is improving as she goes and I am planning to head up to the allotment after lunch. Due to health issues, I can't garden all day even if I have all day free, so will be looking at 2-3 hours tops. Little and often.

:p I just found an un-samosa'd placcy bag, so had to break off other activities to deal with that. It's a tough job but someone has to do it....
