The KonMarie method

I am a long time lurker, have finally read the book which I borrowed from the library.
Was a little disappointed that there were no instructions in the book regarding the folding methods.
I felt the same when I first started but there are a lot of YouTube videos demonstrating the way she folds. Stick with it - it makes a big difference.Looking ahead0 -
And all of a sudden I have about 8 weeks left to achieve my full kondo goal.............beginning to look insurmountable again! Its the end of a long busy week for me so I am sure things will look better in the morningBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

iTwin well done on the giving up. I am still smoking sadly loads of attemps to give up but still not quite there. I have cut down loads as I dont smoke indoors.Banned myself from smoking in the car and never smoke in the street. So will get there soon ! I promise you all.
The Cold Turkey is going fine. I'm only thinking about cigs, momentarily, a couple of times a day! NO craving!
It used to be quite easy to quit smoking, when I was younger. As long as as I had a positive incentive, I just stopped. But, over the last few years, it just seemed impossible.
I'm feeling so ridiculously empowered now, with the changes and understanding that kondoing has triggered, that I feel I can do anything! I'm convinced that this new self-belief fueled my decision, and generated the strength to see it through.
I'm off to a Civil Partnership tomorrow! Yay! Hope the weather is better than the miserable rain and clouds of the past 2 days.
Thanks to kondoing, it was easy to choose an outfit to wear and it's hanging ready for tomorrow. 'The Parabola Hat' has been brushed and steamed - I love my bit of Pr1ngle-shaped glam! :rotfl:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j

Oh Mavymoo - how lovely to list your joys & so glad for you both that OH has a new contract. Sounds like you're firing on all cyclinders!
DS2 was going to fit my worktops in my utility yesterday but rang to say he wasn't up to it as he'd had a long hot day & his blood sugars were low (type I diabetic) so he's coming round later today. I'm ridiculously excited 'cos when its done it means I can Kondo a tall cupboard so that it can hold my cleaner & mops instead of them being stood in the downstairs loo - so that's my weekend sorted lol!
Have a good day everyoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
First thing is to kondo 3 inches off the tops of the lawned areas!! We havent had rain for what seems likes weeks and yesterday got a downpour for about an hour - everything fresh and green and sparkly in the sunshine this morning but the grass seems to have sprung up over night:) Then I am going to potter in the garden.....its my work at home day today but I have to go to a meeting this afternoon. Planning a kondo weekend around other stuff that doesnt feel like a chore.
For those with set top boxes under the bed we have a ridiculous surplus of modems, chargers and miles of cables............so far invisible to the OH  I am hoping as my clutter disappears his will be more visible...........it has happened with the paper mountains. He was in denial that the boxes/piles of paper based clutter were all his to deal with. I asked one day if he wouldnt mind giving me a hand as I as beginning to feel the pressure of the declutter - he has delighted as his method is sling it all in a skip regardless of what it might be ( unless its a modem, charger, cables , tools, and other computer DIY detritus) So I said I would bring all the boxes of paper in one place and he was to go through it taking out his. I also put a recycle box and a box for burning FOR HIS PAPERWORK ONLY I said:)..................after third box was emptied he got the message. Well partially. The boxes left over where put back in the study/office along with the modems, chargers and cables ( have managed to get tools to the shed). He hasnt mentioned them since BUT I WILL BE THIS WEEKEND especially as yet another pile is beginning to grow in the kitchen
Right....garden here I comeBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Love your joyous list mavvy.
Need to make Ds2 an orthodontist appt this morning as he's decluttered two metal brackets from his brace fittings. Grr, he'd got an appt to go back in July away but that's a couple of weeks away and clashes with his work experience, so need to try and swap that if they'll let me.
Polly thank you so much for the patterns I'm sure my friend will love them.
Going to set the shredder up and try and get the bin emptied this morning.
Got plans to see all the children and the DGS over the weekend and the weather is still looking very good, got some gardening to do at mils but may leave that till next weekend if it's really nice.SPC~12 ot 124

Well I have started the paperwork at last. Putting photos and letters, cards etc to one side as they will come last. Yesterday I did a folder of training records, certificates etc and threw out all the extra bits of paper. Reduced file by a third, sorted into date order and updated spread sheet on laptop. Not sure if I will need the stuff again but at least I know where my degree certificates are now.
Emptied three small storage boxes which popper together as they bring no joy as they are always coming apart. Filled large box with paper to go to tip today. All stuff for late mother on desk to do final accounts at weekend then put in loft. I will probably keep more than is necessary but too soon for me to let some of it go.
Kondoed loads of booking and travel paperwork for about 10 holidays. Not sure why I always keep it - we have the memories and do photo books now for each holiday.
Have managed to lose another pound in weight after a very slow June when I averaged out at 0 loss at the end of month. Bread is my downfall and is proving harder than chocolate and wine to give up. After no alcohol for Lent I now have an 'allowance' of 5 glasses per month. Not sure how this will pan out in July as I have daughters birthday do and a week in Spain.2025 Decluttering Campaign 733/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Wow - we're at 5000 posts :j (and I was just pipped to the post by Mrs M-P!) Glad the patterns arrived, and I am happy to have Kondoed them to a better home.
I have overcome my tendency to keep obsolete electrical stuff. Until earlier this year I had two broken solar pond pumps in the garage (was I hoping they would heal themselves somehow?) I am not mechanically or electrically minded so it's not as if I was going to use them for parts or anything. I'm very proud of the fact that when the electricity monitor broke I accepted it, bought a new one, thanked the old one and BINNED IT! Previously that too would have sat around, although I can't honestly say why I would have kept it.
I have the same problem Mrs MP - minutes going back years for a charity I'm involved with, nobody ever reads them after the next meeting and I think in my new MK mindset I am going to shred them, I am not Secretary just a lowly committee member and I'm sure someone else has got a copy if they're ever needed. It's another chunk out of my bedroom - just the pile of UFOs and a little bit of Komono to sort out, and I think I will have finished upstairs categories in a week or so!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone.
