Wow! MK really is life-changing. Hope you can keep it up; I don't judge smokers, having been one myself many years ago, but given the current cost of a packet of 20 I should think the financial benefits must be huge!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

Iqueen well done on the quitting, I hope you can manage to make it permanently kondoed from your life.
Dd2 and DGS have just been round they met me out of work so I got to show them off to everyone. It's dd2s old school so it was quite funny.
Sitting in garden for a bit now as it's too hot to do much. Still need to shop then bake a cake. Might do ice cream and Pimms instead of cake!SPC~12 ot 124

Hi Konverts
Not posted for a while but I have been steadily kondoing. Just finsihed the study today. All paperwork is done and everything is so nicely organised.
I lent Marie's book to my DS1s new financee, she practically jumped up and down with joy. A week later she has transformed their bathroom, sitting room and bedroom, and is about to,start the kitchen. At first DS1 was bemused - he was the untidiest Young Man in England......even he is well and truly Konverted as he proudly showed me the changes they had made.
The book has now been Kondoed to SIL where I'm hoping It will continue its magic.
I have to,agree with you all, I can feel my life is being transformed as we speak. I can find things, everywhere looks lovely, it stays tidy, housework is much easier, ive manged to go back to healthy eating, have reduced my spending.
Ive just got the top,of the cellar steps to do where I keep all my cleanig materials etc. and then I reckon I'm done.
After that all I will have left are the photos, DVDs, and CDs, most of which can go.
I just feel so much better, lighter, happier and more optimistic about the future. It is nearly the 1st Anniversay of my husbands death but I'm ready to move on now and finally start Househunting.
Kondoing has helped me work through my grief but it has also helped guide my thoughts about how I want to live, what kind of house etc
IQueen well done on quitting. that's a fantastic achievement.
I now need to Kondo over 3 stones.....I feel Konfident that this time I will do it......
The kitchen is now a joy to work in, plenty of workspace, neat and tidy cupboards, I really enjoy cooking now, so nice healthy, low cost nutritious food is back on the menu at last........
Onwards and upwards, my fellow Konverts.0 -
Hi everyone,
hoping I can join you all, have just got my fingers on this book today and hoping its just what I need.
I have been doing a lot of searching the internet regarding minimalism recently, as for me its not just the stuff in the house its the clutter in my head that needs clearing too.
Thanks to allybee101 I have also ordered the harcombe diet book so looking forward to that.
To be honest I have been feeling really down in the dumps of late and feel like bursting into tears a lot of the time so I am wanting to get my life back and bring in some JOY
take care xxDetermined to save, save, save

Well done iQueen :T for quitting smoking, and to allybee for the weight loss :j0

Well done IQueen and Allybee!
Not a big Kondoing day due to heavy work load and the need for a nearly two hour nap! But the benefits are still there. I find that I'm looking at things differently, literally and mentally too. Every purchase is made more carefully to reduce the komono; every load of laundry is scrutinised - does it still bring joy (and does it still fit LOL); things that would have gone unnoticed are now irritants, begging to be removed. All good stuff.
I haven't yet become evangelical about this (as my friends and work colleagues are a cynical bunch) but it's great to be able to discuss on here without judgement and with the understanding of others who just "get it"!Looking ahead0 -
Mugwump79, as you'll have seen from others on here this does bring about changes, so I hope it will help to lift your mood. With reference to Tea Lady's question - for me MK more or less coincided with giving up full-time work, so it's not surprising that I feel less stressed and it's hard to say which is the cause. I am definitely seeing things differently, though - where I just wouldn't have noticed clutter before, now I see it and want to remove it.
I very much hope it will have an impact on my eating habits, I need to lose weight but want to do it by just eating a bit less and moving more. I don't do dieting.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
On the flip side DS1 has moved house and DH has introduced to our yard and sheds 6 large trailer loads of his stuff (scrap) which must be kept forever as it is all useful. Kondo outside will have to wait until am a widow, however it will help pass the time as I grieve!!!:rotfl: I like him really. Just sick of his magpie habits.
This has made me chuckle and I am not sure I could cope with a OH that hoards as much as this.
I have lurked on this thread since the beginning and although I am tidy by nature and not a hoarder, it has helped me persuade OH to chuck a bit of his tat and organise his wardrobe. And to be honest however tidy I am there are always areas of slight hoarding such as good label clothes (CS) that were a bargain even though they do me no favours. I have donated them back.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0 -

Does he insist on keeping spares for everything? If so he and my husband could be twins.
Conversation i had with him this morning.
"The set top boxes under the bed do we have to keep them all?"
"Yes they are spares" he answered.
"If we kept spares for everything we own we might as well buy another house".
"Your being funny now" He said.
"Not as funny as you will be if the one we have breaks down and you find that none of them do the channels you watch" I added.

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! I shall be OK in a couple of weeks, when the habit has faded.
I shall be watching my weight extremely carefully, because that is one of the reasons that I have constantly returned to smoking. Luckily, after over 10 years of eating low-carb, I don't have to think about what I'm eating, and I only eat when I feel hungry. I just need to check that no extra carbs start sneaking into my eating.lessonlearned wrote: »Hi Konverts

Well done with your kondoing progress, lessonlearned - it can't have been easy. (Hugs)
Shame we don't earn commission for the people we konvert - you'd be coining it! :rotfl:Hi everyone,

Welcome on board, !!!!!!! :coffee:
The great thing about Kondoing is that it empowers us from Day 1, even if we only 'fold and file' our socks and knickers!
:rotfl:
Gradually, we can see that we are gaining control over our homes, and our lives, in general. This frees us from a lot of the clutter in our minds, enabling us to decide what we want from life, from others, and ourselves, as we build our visions of the future.
Enjoy the ride! :jWell done IQueen and Allybee!

The past 2 days, I've found myself falling asleep, too - hope it's the weather, cos it's not like me at all!
You don't have to become evangelical about kondoing, just mentioning that you are 'having a clear out' or 'de-cluttering' is usually enough to show which way the wind's blowing! The clincher is if you pull a samosa-d carrier bag from your pocket and they recognise you as a Konvert! :rotfl:
I love this thread, too. I'm not usually drawn to posting on message boards, or even reading them, unless I'm actively seeking specific information. This one is just the right mix of kind, positive support, wise suggestions and side-cracking humour. Oh, and the occasional LBMs and woo!
BTW, while all of you were steaming today and applying Factor 220, it was pouring with rain here! Must have been the only wet village in the UK! :wall:Needs, NOT wants!
No food waste since November 2010. :j
