Had a really successful day, sorting and organising. Have managed to fill a couple of large reusable carrier bags full for the charity shop and a bin bag full to go out this week in the rubbish.
Have just ordered the kids mattresses and wardrobe, will need to get their bunk beds but they are out of stock at the moment, so need to keep their room organised so it's easy to move old furniture and assemble the new stuff.Grocery Challenge 2024

I can't get over the joy I'm feeling at seeing my spare room empty (even though that's because everything extraneous is in my room!). If someone rang up asking to stay the night (has been known) I could pretty much show them in there.
It's made me realise that I've ALWAYS used the 'spare' as a dumping ground - well, not any more. The urge to get my own room back in order has made me get rid of two CS bags and a donation bag, post some other stuff that was waiting and put the spare duvets etc in vacuum-pack bags. I've got a box of charity paperwork to sort/file/shred and a pile of crafty UFOs and that's about it. I really feel as if I've reached a turning point - I could have all the upstairs Kondoed in another week or so!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -

I did my linen/airing cupboard this evening - it's looking rather marvelous with towels and bedding stacked neatly - my towels "Showtime" and "Beach" are wedged in the middle and I certainly hope they don't join any revolutions - they might demand a promotion to the upper shelf where the bedding is. I'm hoping the kitchen towels will keep them in line.
I did kondo a couple of towels into the rag bag this week - having spoken to my Mum I found out that one of them was at least 45 years old!!
It's only in the past year that it's really started to fall apart (hem perishing and coming apart). I thanked it profusely and let it go.
Also got rid of a duvet cover set.
I also disposed of a gel eyeliner which refuses to stay put and ends up giving me a second brown line, halfway up my eyelid, no matter how long I let it dry. Sent it on its way.
Finding things are moving slowly but surely. My home is looking less and less frenetic as I find the right homes for things and put them away.

:T Great going, allybee, and I hope your towels don't get ideas above their station. I'm deliberately grounding GARY for a while, it was getting too full on itself now fame beckons.
Well, I posted about winding yarn from cones into balls, one down and four to go. It's now just two to go as the pal who'd donated them in the first place came by, saw them, and asked if they could have two of them back for their current project. Which, since my home is awash with yarn, largely from them, was no hardship to agree. Plus I was able to give them one of their reusable shoppers back, which they'd given to me last week, to transport the cones.
Realised that there are several things in view in my sitting-room which belong at the family homestead and which will be heading there at the weekend, so next week will be even tidier, yay!
:j I'm loving how the flat seems more spacious and there are empty surfaces. Several other things are being allowed to thin out through natural usage and it'll be even better in the future, which is an exciting thought. I love kondo-ing.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hello fellow konverts
Glad the towel stories are still flooding in
I also have a towel which is the dogs which is known as Dolphin as its Blue with a Dolphin on its a really nice quality far better than ours :rotfl:May have to swap with the dog and nab his towel (only joking)
I also have an empty (ish) chest of drawers Judi which stays as it balances the room.4 drawers in the top drawer is the Bibleand a lip salve and thats it ! :rotfl:Oh and a button from a cushion which I will sew on today and get the added clutter out of the drawer
My hoarder cluttered house friend came round yesterday and I showed her my wardrobe with the wooden hangers looking like a posh shop:) I just think she thinks I am a bit mad but then said I have been telling everyone about your perfect rolled cloths and T towels.Oh I said and what did they say ? answer That you have too much time on your hands !
I just laughed and said I feel very luckyTo have time be able to roll things nicely.
Ironing didnt get done yesterday as spent most of the day in the garden but will try and do it today.( note the try word)
Did some housework yesterday takes so little time now it has made so much difference not having to move anything around.Every little mark shows up and I just do it when I see it.
I am loving the kondo life and spending time doing what I want to and not what I dontSpending time with people I want to spend time with and not wasting time or words on people I dont
Not caring about what anyone thinks. Living life how I want to and not how others think I should live !
So keep going everyone you will get there at some point and then you can really reap the rewardsBut you do need to do the step by step process at your own speed while thinking very hard about it as you go.:)

ps feel a bit sorry for GARY being grounded.

Hi fellow Konverts
I would like to ask everyone close to finishing their kondoing, if they have change in any way. I personally have always been a messy pup, still am, always will be I think. Since becoming a konvert I find it so much easier to tidy up after myself as everything as a home and I love the way it looks once tidy.:)
I like many others on the forum now this want to change other aspects in my life. Since starting this marlarky I have lost just shy of a stone in weight, my home is clear and mostly tidy, my memory has improve dramatically.:j
I work as a barista in retail, up until about a month ago I wrote all the orders down. I thought this was an age thing (late fifties) but now I can remember nearly all of them.
Songs I hear on the radio stay in my head like they use to years ago and I remember names better as well. I feel lighter in the heart and soul.
Yesterday I stopped on the way to work for 5 minute just to look at the sensational sunrise (start work at 5AM) something I have never done before but will do again. I feel closer to nature now as I have the time to stop and smell the roses, I see the changes daily in my country walks with my dog. I have been walking the dog/dogs for years and never seemed to see what I have time to see now. It's one of those wooo moments.
I thought I was reading one of the many de-cluttering books, but it is much much more than that. Would love to hear other people thoughts on this .:)0 -

Morning all. Back from Glastonbury so not much Kondoing going on. Camping equipment all over the floor tents drying out etc.
I did manage to kondo some clothing which I wore with a view to giving it one last hoorah and then discarding. Otherwise I am ready and willing to continue once more :-)I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Tea Lady, yes yes yes!
This is going to be a bit long winded, sorry
I'm about three-quarters of the way through konding I think and I have noticed so many changes for the better. I don't know if Kondo is the reason why but it's all coming together for me finally.
I see it a bit like coming back up out of a whirlpool or tornado, constantly building up and setting me free. 2015 started out pretty rough but I feel like I'm making steps to get back from that carp-ness, and even more.
As I have decluttered and tidied-up:
- I re-started a diet, a bit half-heartedly at first, but now going great guns and I've lost 1.5 stone since April. The no-sugar and lower carb aspect might be contributing to clear state of mind but I feel in a better place to be eating more healthily. I did this diet before but failed because I didn't have time, energy, the organisation skills (and occasionally the willpower) to maintain it.
- I am going to bed at a decent time so I can get up at a decent time rather than dragging myself out of bed at the last minute to struggle in work.
- I am inclined to eat more healthily as I can find things in my kitchen and I have space and time to prepare good food.
- Because I get to work earlier I can leave earlier and enjoy the sunshine. I can also walk to and from work along the river which is beautiful.
- I'm more inclined to tidy up, clean, straighten straight away rather than let it build up. I'm not 100% perfect but I'm a lot better than I was. In the evenings I used to veg out in front of the tv or computer, feeling exhausted. Last evening I went to a meeting after work, I did a load of washing, folded clean laundry, cleaned the bathroom and sorted out the airing cupboard.
- I'm generally less flustered and better organised because I can find things when I need them. Things have a home, and aren't covered up by piles of carp.
- My head is so much clearer, and I don't rely on coffee to get me through the day.
I was disorganised and messy even before the carpness of early 2015 made life feel even tougher, but now I feel like I'm slowly turning the ship around and heading in the right direction and improving so much more of my life. There are three books that have become my new building blocks for a better life: The Chimp Paradox, Marie Kondo and The Harcombe Diet. I just wish I'd had them 15 years ago and not wasted so much time.
Never mind, no point looking back on regrets. I haven't had a bad life, just a messy, cluttered and disorganised one - onwards and upwards! :j"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo
