Well done iQueen
I discovered today that packs of 20 cigarettes are often 19!

This has made me chuckle and I am not sure I could cope with a OH that hoards as much as this.
I have lurked on this thread since the beginning and although I am tidy by nature and not a hoarder, it has helped me persuade OH to chuck a bit of his tat and organise his wardrobe. And to be honest however tidy I am there are always areas of slight hoarding such as good label clothes (CS) that were a bargain even though they do me no favours. I have donated them back.
This is what I like about MK's method - it makes us really dig deep to discover what brings us joy, and this probing then seeps into other parts of our lives. It's definitely a life-changer!Needs, NOT wants!

Sorry, mrssnowy... you are behind the times! :rotfl:
The price of 20 cigs must have reached the maximum the market could tolerate, so the manufacturers starting putting only 19 in a pack. This was a year or so ago. Over the past few months, (just prior to the Budget), it went down to 18 per pack!
Although the price, per pack, remains static - the cost per cigarette continues to rise steeply.
Cigarettes aside, it is disgusting that the big companies, fuel, food, energy, water, clothes, etc, are all selling less, because people are choosing, or being forced, to buy less, yet company profits continue to grow! How can this happen in an honest market? :mad:Needs, NOT wants!

Morning ickle minimisers
Good luck to all newbies and well done to everyone quitting unhealthy habits. It's amazing how this funny little book has made us aware of our health too. My drug of choice is food. However, since starting kondoing I've definitely reduced the food I buy. I can't stand my fridge stuffed with food anymore. I am retired and near enough to shops so there is no need to overbuy as though a siege was to take place. I menu plan for just 2 to 3 days and make a list. I find I don't throw out so much now. Lots of us are now not tolerating bad behaviour from people in our lives as well. 'Behave or leave' as someone well said on here. My rellie who I care for has just moved. A nosey neighbour rudely asked me what was wrong with them???
How cheeky! I would never ask anyone that! I just stared blankly at them it was a really long awkward silence and I have to admit I quite enjoyed watching them quirm when I didn't answer and just stared. Then I simply said "see you later, I must get on" and walked away. Eee I wouldn't have had the nerve to do that in the past. I saw them later on in the street, I waved and smiled at them. I got a bit of a look from them. Lines have been well and truelly drawn I think.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Well my detox has bit the dust
Only started yesterday and felt so ill it was unbelieveable ! Spent all day in bed with a blinding headache or when I wasnt in bed I was throwing up in the bathroom !!! So the caffine sugar free life is not for me !
iTwin well done on the giving up. I am still smoking sadly loads of attemps to give up but still not quite there. I have cut down loads as I dont smoke indoors.Banned myself from smoking in the car and never smoke in the street. So will get there soon ! I promise you all.
Going on to weight I am the master of that oneI have kondo'd 7 stone  and kept it off more or less for 5 years. I do go up and down within 7lbs but do keep a very close eye on it as I find it does get out of control very quickly if I let it. I will always have a problem with food and I know it.
The only way is like iQueen said watch carbs and portion sizes and snack on fruit veg etc rather than junk. We all know what we should be eating but it is hard to always make the healthy choice.
So I wish everyone luck if you are trying to lose weight -one of the best tips I was given was never to eat standing upAs thats when we tend to grab a bar of choc from the garage or grab something out of the kitchen cupboard and eat it before you can think about it.
If you are not sitting at a table or where you normally eat dont eat it think about it and then sit down and eat if you still feel hungry. Its amazing when you think about it and then think no I dont really need or want that now.
I am loving the stories about how we are dealing with poeple now as well.I am the same and I dont take the carp anymore and dont care if these people think I am being rude where before MK it would have bothered me a lot.
I have changed so much during this process I love the changes but not sure everyone would agree with me
So well done for all the postive changes going on here.I am now going to make a cup of tea yes with caffine  And I dont give a stuff hopefully it will make me feel better than I do now

Hello all, must admit been keeping up of the goings on by reading the thread but at a standstill at this end. Just so much on as it comes to end of term that I am struggling just to keep on top of the house. I think I have resigned myself to doing it in the summer holidays. I am hoping to do a well overdue spring clean as well.
I have car boots and ebay items to get rid of and must admit I keep random kon doing things as I go through my normal routines! Although I can't reach it I have a lovely basket on top of the kitchen cupboard with serving bits in that have never been used since we moved in. These will go and my lovely spoons that are special sit in their box from ten, yes ten years ago.
Determined that by the end of the hols that I deal with things straight away and at night when I sit down I can sew, read watch TV etc without thinking tomorrow I need to ....Don’t put it down - put it away!

I honestly thought I would never get going again - my mistake (I think) was to put any 'to be sorted out' stuff in the spare room, where it soon formed a small mountain and depressed me every time I looked in there. It took a big push of CS donations/dumping/passing on to clear the room, there are still some piles to be dealt with but individually they seem achievable. Today is too hot for me to be out so I am going to tackle a really horrible job of going through a box of boring charity paperwork and then reward myself with some craft time. So the message is: don't despair, you may stall at times but you will get going again, if you're worn out at work and just hanging on till the end of term you're not in a position to make good decisions. Better to wait till you're feeling stronger and you will speed through it!
I had to give myself a stern talking-to yesterday. I found myself thinking 'I won't put the new garden umbrella up. It might fade in the sun.' :rotfl: wrong for so many reasons!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Morning All - its raining here & my garden is loving it. It's cooler too so will be able to tackle more 'stuff' Reading through the last posts BIG UP for all of you who are trying to quit smoking, lose weight or just get to grip with other challenges in your lives. I know it can seem like an uphill struggle but every day is a step nearer to your goal and no matter how long it takes you WILL get there & have that wonderful sense of achievement.
Karry on Konverts xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Did you go cold turkey? If you cut out everything at once, your body is likely to react badly. Cut down slowly instead.0 -
Morning campers!
I wish to report another Konvert - SiL was regaled with KonMari whilst at Glastonbury, she has now bought the book and made a start :T She has just lost her au pair and is making a go of it on her own (she is a single mother since BiL died). She has just said on FB that when she told her young son that he needed to get rid of anything he didn't want to keep, he said "can we get rid of Josie" (older sister :rotfl:)
I have discarded a much loved vest t shirt - it suits me and I was reluctant to let it go "Do i want to keep it?" - "Yes" but it is slightly stained, and tatty "does it spark joy?" "not any more" "thank you t shirt, off you go". A small but significant discard.
Camping gear all put away - it still needs Kondoing really, but for now has a home so it's gone back there and will be done later in the summer.
DD is coming back from Uni tomorrow  OH has already brought one casefull back for her, i am meeting her tomorrow to help with the other two. And this is someone who gets to keep her room over the summer and so hasn't needed to bring everything back.
Whilst not a lot of new kondoing is going on, the old is still staying kondo'd and my "new" lounge gives such joy that it inspires me to keep it up.:TI wanna be in the room where it happens0
