Did you go cold turkey? If you cut out everything at once, your body is likely to react badly. Cut down slowly instead.

I had to give myself a stern talking-to yesterday. I found myself thinking 'I won't put the new garden umbrella up. It might fade in the sun.' :rotfl: wrong for so many reasons!

Polly, this made me laugh as it could have been me. I'm still trying to find the scruffiest clothes in the wardrobe rather than wear the ones that are "for best", then I'm panicking that I don't have anything to wear because now they are all "for best"!

Lots of us are now not tolerating bad behaviour from people in our lives as well. 'Behave or leave' as someone well said on here. My rellie who I care for has just moved. A nosey neighbour rudely asked me what was wrong with them???

How cheeky! I would never ask anyone that! I just stared blankly at them it was a really long awkward silence and I have to admit I quite enjoyed watching them quirm when I didn't answer and just stared. Then I simply said "see you later, I must get on" and walked away. Eee I wouldn't have had the nerve to do that in the past. I saw them later on in the street, I waved and smiled at them. I got a bit of a look from them. Lines have been well and truelly drawn I think.

Jinny, you have no idea how much I needed to hear this this morning. I've been having bother with a couple of rellies for just over a year now and was thinking yesterday that there is no way I would put up with this behaviour from other people so why on earth should I keep going back for more, just because they are close rellies? Also, I am using energy to spend time with them whilst not putting time into friendships which I value. Definitely a change is going to take place.

Congratulations iQueen for Kondoing the cigs.

Mav, congratulations on starting your healthier lifestyle. This thread has to be the most exciting on MSE because the positive changes in people's lives are massive and they are taking place in such a relatively short space of time.

My changes are taking place at a slower pace because my Kondoing is slow but they are happening and that is what matters.

have you tried Rooibos (redbush) tea? it is naturally caffeine free but tastes remarkably like tea.

  • Hello! I'm a new Konvert :)

My book arrived on Monday and today I achieved what I previously thought was impossible - reducing two wardrobes and two chest of drawers of clothes, shoes and accessories in to one wardrobe and one chest of drawers. I feel so much happier and lighter and I think it is changing the way I dress because I can easily see the clothes I love. So good for the soul.

Next up is paperwork and books, I'm going in...

I am a long time lurker, have finally read the book which I borrowed from the library.

Was a little disappointed that there were no instructions in the book regarding the folding methods.

Although I hadn't read book I have sort of started kondoing going by what you lovely people on this thread have said.

Clothes done, but will redo later. CDs and DVDs all kondoed to music magpie so around £150 better off!

Oh I can better that, in our attic I have the first video player we ever had it was bought by fil and given to us when we got married, it's was a top loader jobbie and towards the end of its life spent as much time at the repair shop as it did in our lounge. A very sad day for DH when I was asked to leave the shop with it bearing a BER sticker (beyond economical repair) then there's the DVD/ video tape recorder that is BER then there's another two past it DVD players that didn't even make it to the repair shop as by then it had closed down. There is even a reel to reel tape player up there and ok I'll admit it MY stereo system in its cabinet, that got lt unused as the styluses got too expensive but DS1 is itching to get that down and start using now vinyl is having a comeback. And don't even get me started on all the LPs singles and the endless boxes of videos he has stashed down the drive. All are just incase - of what I'll neverknow:rotfl:

  • Hi - I have just gathered together all our DVDs - not many - and tomorrow we'll gather the cds too - the ones from the car that is. This weekend we are going to sort them out and either donate or use!! If it rains - as it says it might - we'll also have another look through the bookcases!

I now seem to be finding regular living places for items that didn't previously have them and my list of jobs "to do" is going down slowly but steadily. Each day brings a little improvement and it is making me so happy!!!

Having a successful day today, tidied a bit of our wall unit and managed to sort a bag of cookery books for the charity shop, a bag of recycling and have loads of space to organise some other stuff now. I've also started to organise my craft stuff as I need to clear the 3rd bedroom in anticipation of our baby arriving in October. Have sorted out some bits to sell that I know I'm not going to get round to using and managed to get 2 lots of stuff into a wicker basket that only had 1 lot of stuff in earlier so space saving too.
