    Hi all

    Moan alert!

I am having a bit of a Kon-Marie crisis. I was doing really well but had to stop because other things got in the way. I have a busy life and its hard enough to find time to do the daily chores without extra decluttering.

I have lost my motivation. It doesnt help that no-one else in the family cares how much clutter there is, so long as there is a path through each room and they can get to the fridge/xbox/telly. I am doing paperwork and OH refuses to sort through his.

    Help!!!

yorkshire lass, this resonates with me. My dh thinks everything of his since 1960 must be kept, every farmers weekly since 2000. I occasionally the night before the recycling goes cull from the bottom of the heap and it never gets any bigger!

Very frustrating being the lone trier. Same with cash in the house. I am the only earner, the farm is a drain on my and DS income yet DH goes off and orders stuff for many thousands of pounds and just shrugs shoulders at us or shouts at any attempt to restrain him. Sorry getting off topic, but is so frustrating when you are trying to achieve something but having to do it alone. I find this forum wonderful.

You are not alone, we are all decluttering, clearing debt and saving together. When really low I listen to Dave Ramsey on you tube or some of the decluttering gurus. Utterly motivating.

For the record my DH is much loved and a good man, just useless! LOL

Thanks hun ... the other problem is that our house needs decorating and various bits of DIY doing, some of which OH has started but not finished. This makes me feel that no matter what I do its never going to look great. I am rubbish at DIY and anyway I do all the housework as it is. Sigh.

And yes, mine is much loved too, just so flippin laid back its untrue!

I'm sure that as you two gals work through kondoing, it will change your mindset! Perhaps you will find yourselves becoming firmer, over how tidy the house should be, because you live there too, and an untidy/disorganised home makes your job of keeping it clean MUCH harder and time-consuming? Imagine if you made your OHs' work harder, how would they feel? If they don't at least support your kondoing efforts, give them a taste of their own medicine? :rotfl:

I have had such a laugh today with the tips on dealing with telephone scammers. I definitely fancy trying out some of the suggestions ... but I am so ridiculously happy all the time now that I am loth to waste a moment on anything that's unnecessary!

Hurrah! OH is on board. Well he has gone through his t-shirts as he couldn't shut the drawer. He has reduced the pile by half. Some of them don't bring me joy- they don't suit him but hey ho! They are his clothes not mine.

This reduction has meant that I could re fold his clothes in the approved method. They are standing so beautifully that I may take a photo.

Socks are next. He has way too many so they are stuffed in the drawer.

I feel your pain re the t-shirts. OH has a Ripcurl one he really likes and won't get rid of, despite the fact it's (a) a teenage surfer brand and he's 62, and (b) a bit on the - er - snug side. I can't for the life of me think where he bought it. Must have been when we were on holiday at the coast some time, I reckon.

OH bought me some much-needed new sandals the other week, so the old ones have been thanked for their sterling service and put in the bin - they weren't fit to be donated.

I got out a pair of linen trousers yesterday which I hadn't worn yet this year, and remembered they need to be worn with a belt. I have only one belt, which I know is currently in one of my pairs of jeans, and could I remember where I've put the jeans when tidying MK-style? I could not. I'm sure that's not supposed to happen :o:D So I only wore those particular trousers until I'd ironed some others.

I think the jeans must be on the shelf in the top of my wardrobe, right at the back. I was in such a hurry to get the bedroom looking better when I was putting them away!

Have just had a very satisfying hour Kondoing the bedside cabinet. I know we're not supposed to do rooms or areas but in this case the surface and drawers were full of komono so I felt justified. One small bin bag filled and four drawers sorted into a more sensible arrangement so I can at least find and use stuff! I also found lots of bits and pieces of jewellery - culled and put aside for when I tackle my jewellery box.
    Looking ahead

I think we might be married to the same person:eek: OH can turn his hands to any DIY but gets sidetracked and things are left 'just for now' So outside wall of house at back is yet to be finished.....patch about 6x4 feet been like that for almost 24 years...........how do I know? He first started doing it when our eldest was born and I would sway in hammock with new born whilst he painted..............he denies its this long ago. We are replacing our kitchen of 19 years- he fitted/plumbed it all last time but the finishing bits along the back of work tops have never been fixed in place.................and I have mentioned the years we had the DR floor stacked up against the wall for years...its down now but still waiting for skirting :D

Its a bit of a joke in our house but I can get very resentful too especially as some of our more heated arguments have been about clutter and having piles of 'stuff' which he puts squarely on my shoulders.

:) I had no idea ripcurl was a teen surfer brand. I have a longsleeved ripcurl teeshirt which I got from a charity shop for about £2. Like it lots but I expect their marketing manager wouldn't be pleased to see a middle-aged woman in their stuff - not that I give a damn, anyway. 'Sides, if I want to look at surfers, I prefer the fit twenty-somethings to the teenagers. Nearly got run over by a line of jogging surfer dudes on a cornish beach one hot summer's day in 2013. Shirtless. They have such excellent scenery in Cornwall, don't you find? :p

I am quite the fashionista as also have a billabong wallet; Mum got if from a chazzer and I took a shine to it so she let me keep it.

Have been kondo-ing weeds from the allotment for about 5 hours until rain stopped play. Have eaten the first 2015 strawbs and broad beans. Not at the same time, I hasten to add.

Niece and partner kindly came and helped get some furniture out of house and in to garage (pending giving away to charity or someone who can use it, or to the tip in the last resort).

Kondo'ed numerous leaves and spiders from garage, and cleaned some areas in the house which haven't had even a "cat's lick and a promise" for quite a while.

On unsolicited phone calls, when they ask what home improvement I'm planning, I always say "I'm so lucky, I've got everything I want, but i could be interested in a Helipad" (sometimes have to explain what it is :rotfl: ) which shuts them up. It's true though, my kitchen is wanted, (it's only 25 years old, so very nearly "period"), and if I ever have a helicopter a helipad would be very useful!
