I am at the stage of worse before better........:( but I can officially say that the Very Important Piece of Paper we ( I, because its obviously all my doing ) is lost. I have ditched lots of paper based stuff, have a number of things now on fr**gle, a large bag for charity roadside collection tomorrow and 2 large bags for CS next time I am able to get there. Also large box of stuff to go into work which will be put to good use there. I am loathed however to just haul everything back into the office without it having a proper place. OHs stuff however I am leaving to make my point - childish I know but that is how I am feeling as all the way through this process he hasnt really accepted the part he has played/plays in the 'keeping of stuff' I have warned family once 'my' side of the deal is complete at end of August ( hopefully) they may not like the person that emerges..............love 'em all to bits but they will have to step up very soon.

Almost had heart stopping moment when I thought some very precious things ( photos - very old and irreplaceable) may have died in storage. A large wooden blanket box that was my grandmothers was damaged by water seeping from a Christmas tree we had standing on it about 4 years ago. At the time I thought only the lid had been damaged and a book that was Christmas present has soaked up most of the water. We did check inside but the things on the top where dry so where happy all OK. Today I decide to empty the whole lot ( did in fact find something in there that will help me replace the VIPP a little quicker and more easily :)) About half way down I got a little worried that a box looked water damaged - it contained my mother wedding photos. Contents OK but it became clear that other stuff was damaged.......but all at the bottom. Very strange. Anyway all damage stuff binned and of no use or value whatsoever why was it ever in there I have no idea.Thankfully wedding album, stack of other photos from early 1900 and some other bits and pieces also unscathed..........huge sigh of relief. Box is now half empty. Contents duly noted and mental note a job for the winter to sort out properly what is in there.

Back to domestic chores now and will not be konding much in the week due to work but already planning next weekend!

Talking of DHs :D Anyone want mine ?
We were going out last night and he came into the lounge and I just burst out in fits of laughter and couldnt speak for laughing and he just stood there saying what what - When I could speak I asked if the jacket he was wearing belonged to his Grandfather who was about 3 sizes bigger than him:eek: Honestly it looked dreadful I cant remember ever seeing it before.I asked where it had come from and to my disgust he said I brought it for him :eek: If I did I dont remember or I was having some kind of breakdown ;)

So that is now in the charity pile and he has agreed for us to go though his stuff (He has loads of horrible clothes which dont suit him) Which he insists on keeping:o For some reason.

The moral of the story is good old KM I love her as it took me about 2 mins to get ready rather than the hour it took him :)

I said see if you only had things you loved then it would take you 2 mins too and he had to agree. Woo moment I think ;)
Bring on the carp clothes cull I cant wait :rotfl:

I have been MIA recently but have been reading regularly. My parents came to stay and disrupted my routine:D

I have been kondoing bits and pieces but am waiting till the summer holidays to carry on properly.

I very nearly kondoed my OH this morning. I found out that he had bought himself a few things online including a bass amp a few months ago - when I am trying to get the debts down he is busy spending - but not only that he told me he had borrowed it from school:mad: I am not sure what makes me crosser the fact that he bought it without telling me, the fact that he lied about it or the fact that I thought it would only be temporary and isn't:mad: A 50 year old with depression and a mid life crisis is not good:( I have made him a doctor's appointment he needs to go back on the ADs

:o I have been very naughty and more yarn has come into the flat. Much more yarn. Think the equivalent of two black sackfuls.

But I'm ridiculously joyful about it. I have lots of lovely colours to add into my blanket-knitting project, which will itself leave on completion. And some of the yarn is promised elsewhere and will be gone in a couple of weeks and some of it is slated for donation and will be gone tomorrow.

I did declutter some produce from the allotment into me, and very tasty it was, too, plus 2 Ikeya bagfuls of weeds went to the tip. I'm going to be getting frequent flyer miles down there soon.;)

I have had a fab day. DD kondoed her bedroom at the end of Uni and left 4 bags of stuff on the landing that she did not want and never knew what to do with. Easy, bedding to DS2. DVDs to family stack, all classic romcoms and will be watched by various. Jigsaw put away, this is a mistake and when I next go upstairs will be CS along with the 5 pairs of tights that I have owned since pre wedding 28 years ago and DD took to uni 2 years ago incase! Very pleased, nothing to bin, and the landing is tidy. We live an hours drive from cinema so we carry a store of DVDs we also have broadband that could not hope to download a film or programme!
So all in all the day is ending well. DD bed remade ready for sept or earlier if she should come for a weekend before.

I love that feeling of readiness. Her room is beautifully MK and she is thrilled with it.

May do the cupboard under the sink tomorrow. Anything to prevent me buying more stuff!

Managed to combine some Kondoing with errands. Popped into OH's flat (he's not well, bless him, so I've been in Florence Nightingale mode for a week or so) to check on his mail and while there collected two more large bags of books I'd left there years ago, intending to read, just before buying a Kindle LOL.

On the way home I popped into the Barnardo's 99p shop and bought some items - all the right size and colour (so no need to be annoyed when I forget to return them) and all fitting gaps in the wardrobe that tie together outfits. While I was there I found one of those plastic rolling drawers (don't know the right name, sorry). I know we're not supposed to organise before finishing BUT I've finished shoes and this is now in the hall, holding the same number of shoes as the old shoe rack, but tidily. And it only cost £3.99 so that's a bonus.

Keeping the KM mindset when shopping is making such a difference. Especially as I get most things from CS and the prices are so low that I used to just grab whatever caught my eye and it was "no big deal" if it didn't fit and then I forgot, again, to return it. No more. KM - you are my hero!
    Looking ahead

I think I need to rekondo my hanging clothes - trousers and jumpers. I have put my clothes away this evening and had trouble getting them in so some need to go!

When my parents were here OH and I slept on a mattress in the lounge, to fit it in we had to move some furniture out. I liked the extra space so decided not to put the small table back in. I love the extra space. I have only half kondoed as I still have the table but I think it will go soon.

Imgamogam, ME TOO! I was despairing (again) after I spent a few hours trying to declutter and find the rights places for random komono. The trouble is I have a v.small house and 25 years of useful possessions along with a lot of accumulated 'stuff' that definitely needs to go.

I kept telling myself that you have to get down and dirty before you can decide on the keepers and get the rest out of the door. The need to break eggs to make omelettes thing, I suppose.

i am also battling my OH when it comes to getting rid of unjoyful and unneeded things. While he did eventually comment favourably on the kitchen cupboards he came in today, immediately quizzed me about 'where all the stuff had gone from on the stairhead', started rummaging through the charity bag and taking stuff out:(

I had, until very recently, blamed myself for having too much stuff and keeping
stuff that no longer had a purpose for me but looking around today I realise that
a lot of the clutter is not mine........:( I suppose all i can do is go through my clothes, books, craft stuff and household komono and hope (capital H maybe??!) that it will catch on. Any suggestions on how to encourage disposal, with thanks of course ;) of 8 large volumes of hardback repro comic books, a large model
boat, a pile of footie programmes, a chainsaw (in the LR at the mo due to lack of a shed), 2 rucksacks, a mirror we replaced but which he will not let go 'because it cost us £50' years ago ???

OK, moan over. Sorry about that.

I just felt i should have been able to make more progress this weekend, I think.

Well, you've all been very busy bees today - makes me feel quite inadequate! ;)

I've spent most of the day sorting out documents for my solicitor! Luckily, they were all on the computer, but in various formats and my printer decided not to work. Thank goodness they were all computerised - there's a deadline and it would have taken me months to find them otherwise.

Now they are all in a compressed file, waiting for me to add them to an email in the morning. My brain's turned to mush! :o

It's amazing how many OHs and DH's are not 'getting MK'. (Mind you they are very adept at pretending to be useless!) According to 'the statistics' men are more likely to hoard than women - seems to be true from the kondo threads that I've read. I'm really glad I've kondoed my 2 DHs - can't imagine coping with their junk as well as my own! :rotfl:

    Fr**gle?? or sell on F/B?

Goodluck with the KM by osmosis with your OH. I have fingers crossed here that as my stuff becomes less his will obviously be 'more' and he will act on it..........like I said in previous post I may just emerge from all this a very different person with different goals, aspirations and priorities............ thats a scary thought in itself but I am hoping some sort of magic will happen:o
